Wow that's badass.I wish crate keys were like a dollar each, I would splooge hard.

The last game I was in I saw a boar with grass growing underneath him. The unique effects look much better than tf2's.

Has anyone run into someone with item names/description tags? In tf2 whenever you were killed by a custom weapon it would tell you its name and description, I don't know if this is the case in dota 2. I have never seen it but I don't know how popular tags are.

Where are people getting these crazy items from? Is that stuff only from chests? I've never seen anything better than a common item drop at the end of a match.

Your Sarcastic Real Talk looses upwards of 90% of its humor when there is no context to it. I get the joke, but who are you making fun of? You guys suck at comedy. Get good or get out.

Dkirbs y u hatin bro we both pioneers of Dagon/Euls viper and I consider myself a contemporary dota analyst and critical thinker like u. Ur my idol

I get the joke, but who are you making fun of?
ur startin to think like a hongaffer, mad respect bro

Yeah, if the keys were only $1 I would be much more likely to buy some. As it stands at $2.50, I doubt I'd ever buy more than a couple at most myself (though this doesn't preclude trading for them), ever.

I could easily see myself ending up having spent $10 on $1 keys over the same period of time that I would buy maybe 1 or 2 $2.50 ones.

Valve's never done sales on keys in TF2 have they?

Did the dotas just die on me as I was about to start playing? What is this my battle point bonus neinnnnnnnnnnnn :(

(EDIT: Didn't seem to be down for very long)

I don't think they have, I don't see them carrying the same value as TF2 keys either. In TF2 there is a good chance I'll end up with a strange basic item like the Minigun which is completely worthless to me and there goes my £1.50. But with Dota 2 there is a good chance I'll end up with a item I don't own (well in the case of Axe and NP that is) which is worth more than the key with the added bonus of it being a strange item and there is a chance of a 3 day booster in there as well.

I'm sure they will go down in value though as more and more items are introduced to the game.

I wonder if there will even be an update this week, considering Independence day is Wednesday.

Oh ffs. :(

Dota 2 keys are worth more than TF2 keys on the open market right now. Two TF2 keys = one Dota key. Granted, there are many more TF2 keys in circulation.

I've been eyeing TF2Outpost for the past few days and it seems like TF2 keys and refined metal are the 'standard' currency for Dota trading. Most Dota items can be acquired for their store value in TF2 market value keys (TF2 keys normally go for $1.30-$1.40 on the open market)

I'm guessing not, if there is it will probably be a bugfix patch.

Then again, that 5-10 heros left by international quote.

Where's my god damn steam summer sale

I don't know a thing about the TF2 economy, but could you explain how a key that can solely be acquired by paying $2.50 (right?) somehow sells for $1.40?

People bought a bunch of keys, maybe traded for them (keys are a currency in the TF2 market), and so a supply is built up. Suddenly DOTA2 comes out, slated to become the next big thing (as a game and as a hat market) and people want to unload their TF2 stock before it devalues.

Economics!

People set up TF2 smurf accounts for idling purposes and to get a smurf account to be eligible for trading, you have to make one real money transaction. The minimum amount you can put on an account is $5, which is 2 keys. Basically the supply of TF2 keys in secondary markets (places like TF2Outpost or SourceOP) is higher than the demand.

There are a large number of TF2 keys in circulation for two reasons. For one, people will buy them simply to use as trading credits. The second is that they are also often bought by people to open idle accounts, since they are the most sought after store exclusive item, and thus retain the bulk of their value.

I really wish Valve made it so the keys in both games were the same, but thats not gonna happen, is is Chris. I know you are out there!

I wouldn't go that far. Keys go for $1.30 on the open market. That's an almost 50% devaluation from the current store price. They're not retaining the bulk of their value; they're barely holding on to half of it at any given time.

Dota2 keys will drop in value sooner or later. I haven't had need of any yet, but I'd assume they're probably around $2.00 on the open market right now.

Can someone explain the idea behind getting Eul's and force staff on viper for me?

It was born of the collective genius of Anbokr along with the aid of my contemporary Dr.Kirby:

Anbokr said:
Try eul's on viper sometime, i highly recommend it, it allows for perfect positioning for your ultimate and more auto attacks. And more auto attacks on viper = more orb damage = free kills.

Anbokr said:
eul's viper is legit to all u haters, viper has problems catching retreating enemies and eul's allows u to control your opponent, not to be controlled. you have to be in range for viper's orb to go off, but most of the time viper isn't in range to orb + ulti and that's where the eul's come in. you can post your stats all day but anecdotes and real game situations speak louder.

self explanatory

They used to, but your right, they no longer did. A few months ago it was $2 still.

I guess they still get them due to being in high demand, I don't see much demand/supply of Back Pack Extenders, which are also $5.

So I dove into matchmaking today!

Had some kinda crappy games where we got rolled. Then I started playing Lina and have won the last two I played as her.

The last game I kinda carried harder than any carries at 10:1:2. Which was kinda unexpected. Triple Kill in the middle of the game. The spells she has are really powerful and fun.

Match ID 23807051 if anyone wants to see a(n almost) complete noob play and have a good game.

What other heroes play similar to Lina? Since I've found her to be pretty fun.

Mostly been doing bottom lane (as Radiant).

Lion is probably the most functionally similar hero, he's a bit more about disable and a bit less about damage though.

Anybody wanna give me a quick list of characters that should be completely avoided for beginners. I'm just getting back into MOBAs and one of my first games I picked Lone Druid and I pretty much shat a solid brick when suddenly Im managing a bear too.

Better off asking what heroes you should play it'd be a much shorter list.
