oooo

Puck with 600 range is boss. Hell, they should give Necrolyte 600 range back. Maybe people will use him again.

It'd take much more than that to see him picked again.

Though I did see syndereN pick him up in CM in a scrim recently. Was hella surprised. They still lost.

Why isn't veil of discord used more often? Is 25% extra magic damage not significant?
It's a generally underrated item that's pretty good in certain situations.

The problem is there are usually better choices especially during mid game.

Getting a lot of textures not loading correcting (pink models, pudge especially), validating the cache, hopefully that fixes it.

I have a feeling that phantom lancer is like syllabear in the fact that most pubs aren't familiar how to play him to his maximum effectiveness, so his usage will drop a lot.

It's the only way to increase spell damage, besides leveling-up the ability itself right?

Right, but spell scaling is usually not so much a problem that you need to get an item for it. Most casters who are also strong late game heroes usually build into semi-carries, because damage items are just more effective than spells, which are restricted by cooldown.

The most effective Veil of Discord users are initiators like ES and SK, who both have extremely powerful AoE spells that are further boosted by Veil of Discord. Since their ults are really all the damage they bring to the table, Veil of Discord is pretty good for them.

Does anyone have any ideas for items they'd like to see for specific characters? I can create 3D things and show it here for feedback as I develop them. I'm new to Dota 2 and I don't really know what people want to see. I'd like to have some items ready to submit when Valve opens the workshop.

Overall I'm not really into the idea of items. I stopped playing TF2 over them, but I accept it's inevitable. I haven't done a jiggly item before but I'm open to learning jiggle bones if the idea is good.

I like Veil a lot of Zeus, and will also think of picking it up in some specific situations that are more team comp dependent (Most of my damage comes from spells, there is a second person who pumps out a lot of spell damage on the team, I need HP Regeneration but someone else already is getting a Mek and a Pipe isn't needed)

What kind of items do you guys build on Shadow Demon? I usually get Arcane Boots and a Bracer Early, and a bottle if it works, take my iron branches and make a Magic Wand, and most games turn the bracer into a Drum. Some other stuff I have gotten is things like Force Staff, Mek, and Necronomicon. He is one character who I have thought about grabbing Veil of Discord on, since I often feel like I need HP regin, but nothing really feels right on him.

Though this brings up another point. SK and ES generally are low farm and blink dagger and whatever regen/stats/mana items are way more important. It's not bought very often largely because the ones that benefit from it the most can't afford it.

However if it does get to that stage of the game, and they're not desperately in need of more survivability, it think it definitely should be bought. Unless they're really in need of stats it should be a higher priority than agh, even.

The only other hero I would consider buying veil for is Puck, and that's pretty situational.

It also works on Jakiro but he has his own problems.

I'm sorta a dota newbie. I uploaded a replay of my lich gameplay to mediafire. If anyone wants to watch it and critique me on what I am doing wrong/right, I'd appreciate. I kinda know the basics and stuff. Thanks!

You can watch every game anybody played (except private lobbies) inside the game, also from player perspective. Check your match history and post the matchid here. Easier to watch if people wanna check it out.

Oh, sweet. Didn't know that. Here it is!

I tried out PL last night in the test client, used the playdota alt tab guide for skill build and just used suggested items from the game.

Had to take a lot of stats, even instead of ulti, is that a normal way to level him? Noticed he played kinda like brewmaster in that sense with really low hp/mana pool so I guess it's pretty much needed.

As for items, I dunno why but the suggested items felt kinda off a bit. Vanguard seems like a nice core item, but it's in situational. He's a great diff blade hero though.

Updated OP with PL and new Brewmaster pic. If anyone knows how to get the new Lion profile pic let me know and I'll update his, currently I take the pictures from the Dota2wiki.

Always take your ulti, it gives Phantom Lancer and all of his illusions free magic resistance. Normally you want to max out Spirit Lance first, and then either a.)max Dopplewalk second, or b.)take stats and Spirit Lance until 8. Take a point in Juxtapose at 9, take two levels of your ulti at 10 and 11, then max Juxtapose. I usually go the max Dopplewalk unless I feel that I'm really safe, in which case I take one level and then go stats. Both work great though.

I don't see stats as a good choice. Without maxing lance you're worthless until late game and doppelwalk's mana cost and cd lowers with levels, helping to deal with your lower stats. Postponing ult can be fine, but I think only for these two skills instead of stats.

diff should be swapped with radiance for ideal core, imo. PL isn't strong until he gets all his items, and radiance first should get him there the quickest. Maybe don't even upgrade basilus to get radiance faster. If that's impossible, van and diff in whatever order should be core.

I want to see BH from DK. Longdd played him real well when I watched him in a random Dota 2 match.

Who's the guy co-casting with Tobi? I know he was casting yesterday too, and I love how he really knows the game.
