I've had access to the beta for a while, but I've yet to play a game. Can anybody recommend a few supports/builds to try out(I like the look of Silencer's kit, but most people I've seen in replays seem to play him as a carry).

Voice chat works now, I am tripping fucking balls over this voice quality. It's incredible!

I just played Luna. Fun as hell. Question: Is going Manta Style, then eventually Mjollnir now a viable strategy? I'm just imagining all the glaives flying everywhere as a result of that.

Does the game seem to run worse for anyone else since the latest patch? I've got the same settings I had before but I've noticed a considerable drop in my frame rate.

Glad the voice chat is enhanced, now I can hear people call me a British cigarette in crystal clarity.

Tried both the new heroes. Luna's speed is great and those bouncing glaives can wipe out creep waves with ease. Her little stun move is alright, and does a low cool down. Is her ultimate similar to Juggernaut's where you basically have to have as few enemies as possible together to maximize the hits? I had no idea what was happening when I threw that thing up. It was a great match, Pudge was completely destroying us early on and went on a "holy shit" streak in the first ten or fifteen minutes. He was level 20 after 25 minutes. We thought we were done, but we managed to pull together with the power of teamwork. We managed to isolate Pudge a few times and it took pretty much every move in our entire team's arsenal to take him down. He had nearly 5,000 HP before he even hit max level. We managed to keep the pressure on him and did well in teamfights, so we won after about an hour. Definitely a satisfying victory considering how badly we were getting beat early on.

Wisp is... well, he certainly is a glowing ball of light. I did manage to get some pretty hilarious kills with his spirit attack, those things can actually do pretty decent damage and have a great range. I can see his usage, but he definitely looks like it takes some practice to use him effectively.

BZM best SF.
Alumnus best PA.
Procarbine best Pudge.

Me, by virtue of being the only Wisp.

0-10 Wisp np.

Riot abandoned Karma because her tether is too anti-fun.

Well I figure it's a quick way to get banned if you tether people into the enemy well, other than that Wisp doesn't seem that teamkill risky.

edit: But yeah a lot of potential wasted without teamplay. Folks blink out of tether and dont make it back from ganks etc.

Diplomacy is broken in Civ, and it's pointless doing any late game strats in MP when you can just destroy people early and force a new game.

Like that time you tried to go all Huns on Wes and got fucked up?

Or that time where you went to war with me early, got fucked up, tried to sell your cities to Japan to help crush me and I killed you both?

GG

Kagete you are right though, Ikuu tries to play the game like a scumbag!

On a Dota related note. Wisp is glorious; now if only teammates didn't run away when you use tether.....

I am going to wait on opening chests until they put out some for characters I play often, that way I could put some Strange Esseness on them.

You guys are all playing Civ wrong, gotta play it like a death-match game, shoot on sight policy. What I like to call the American Strat.

Or the time I rolled the entire continent as Japan and you all quit, or the game with Gengis, or when I killed Wes like 30 turns in.

Against Wes I made some big mistakes and had some bad luck, the other game you're talking about I also made some mistakes and sold my city as I was out of the game and wanted to see if it would make things more interesting.

None of this changes the fact that Diplomacy doesn't really work in Civ.

I remember the time you tried to Genghis my Russia and I just slapped you back. Your silly Genghis strat only worked against me once!

Diplomacy works to an extent, it's just not the be-all-end-all of the game and that's fine.

There's loads of times where I'll refuse to trade luxuries because I know the other guy is down on happiness after going to war. It has its uses, but the main problem is that people aiming for the late game tend not to protect themselves early. It's far easier to defend than it is to attack.

Speaking of which Meteorain got called out yesterday for picking shit champions like PA.

Actually, I believe the Furion got called out the most. I just happened to be part of the "rest of the team" whom all got called out. Not my fault some douche gets Weaver after we got 2 agi carries!

Also it seems I'm getting that silly "Map doesn't match server map" bullshit when I try and spec a game...

I was Rome in that game, I should have just attacked the AI as I believe you only had a small part of land to work with. Also forgot that you got double iron.

Any noob tips or noob characters I should be using? Got an invite yesterday and played a game against easier bots and got absolutely destroyed. I did seem to like it a lot much better then LoL even with me getting my ass kicked.

Lich and other pure supports, there's a guide in the OP also.

So i was going through my stats and i found this funny:
i1ismatp7Cnhl.JPG

Such a ridiculous hero in pubs, i think i had around 15 kills in both games.

Skeleton King for melee--only have 1 power (stun), everything else is passive.
Lion for ranged--great support hero, plenty of disables. make sure you never wander too far alone.

Time for some real talk : Richard Branson can't even organise some sparkies to fix a few cables. So I'm going to Sky. Internet to be resumed shortly. Ill miss my 100mb fios but w/e

Milkman has some good recommended beginner heroes in the OP.

Lich is the ultimate noob hero but I think he's boring and has the potential to turn off players. Try sven (ganker/support/carry) or tidehunter (initiator/ganker) or venomancer (pusher/support/aoe damage)

sven is hard to play for a new player.

even sanjay or meteorain can't play sven, and they've been playing dota for years.

Agreed on Sven, really difficult to play in every role, whether support, ganker, or carry.

He isn't that hard... i learnt this game mostly playing sven.

Stunning people and smaking your sword on people isn't that hard =[

And if your buying a MoM you are doing it wrong.

Its not so much that he's difficult, but if you fuck up once you're screwed. His stun is fantastic but you get to use it once, after that if you've stunned the wrong target or the aoe didn't land right you're fucked.
