Yeah, I could never get into RTS games either but don't have an issue with mousing the camera. It did/does take a bit of work, though. Aside from a few small key rebinds I've been really happy with the default settings for Dota 2.

25k watching Navi vs Empire on Tobi, and at the start he said there are like 4/5 streams up with this match, Russian/Spanish/French casts on top of his own stream. Good numbers.

Edit: V1lat has 31k right now. Dota 2 almost beating LoL on Twitch.
 
Still a bit of a newb here, but I tried Bounty Hunter yesterday, and I'm a little confused about his role. What lanes do I go in? Top/bottom, right? And I gank when I can? Do I jungle at all? Do I take priority of last hits?

Not sure. With WoW arena you could always have at least a couple more people on the roster than the match size would limit you to (e.g. 3+ people on the team for 2v2s).

Yeah that's what I was hoping for. I have 5 other people I may be able to team up with, but that would put us at 6.

Pretty sure it's 5 + admin who can also play now for the team system. Might be 6 + admin, but thought Valve was very strict with this.

You generally want to be in the hard lane (rad top/dire bottom) and yes you get last hits. I personally prefer playing him in a solo lane and just sit there and soak up XP while getting last hits here and there. Once you start hitting 6, you need to start going out to gank with track. BH is a ganker so most of your income ideally should be gained through track+kills. That said, if there isn't an opening to gank, feel free to farm for a little bit. And for the love of god don't go battlefury with him.

Awesome, thanks! Played my first match and won, was in the top lane as rad and died a few times, but also got a few kills, so I must have done something right!

And why not battle fury? And any suggestions on late game items?

Battle Fury takes too long to farm and only helps you farm more. Technically it would allow you to "farm to be a late game carry" but if BH is going to carry its going to be in the early-late game (as opposed to the late late game). Orchid is my favorite thing to build on BH since it allows you to gank basically anyone, but then Orchid is just about my favorite item in the game. Generally speaking the two expensive items I build on BH are Orchid and Sange and Yasha, with the order switching depending on their team lineup. If I need the extra attack power now because they're tanky I probably build S&Y first, if they're squishier but have casters who can screw me over I go Orchid
 
I used to build a deso on him back in the day. Then something like mkb/bfly/assault depending on what I was up against. I'd throw a vlads in there too if nobody was making one. I've yet to play him in Dota 2. Would that still make sense?

If you like big red numbers, Desolator is still your item of choice. Most common is something Phase, Wand, Drums, Desolator.... And yeah there are lot of possible choices.. SnY, Orchid, Linkens,Vlads,...

If you're funny you can go Dagon as well and instagib people who walk alone.
 
They should've swapped Lyc and Clinkz, Lyc suicide lane is just bad. He has no real solo power he needs the support. They swapped at the middle of the game but by then the damage was done.

Radiance in lane is ideal between 16-20 minutes depending on how well the game is going. If you are dying then you should look to get a maelstrom on the bear as it is a way cheaper build up than radiance.

Thanks man. I dunno if I would go Midas though; it's a big commitment and you have to be farming pretty hard to make good use of it. Next time if my farm isn't going fast enough, I'll just take your advice about getting the Maelstrom.

Me neither. I had a rough time adjusting at first, because I've never played a RTS and the only other MOBA I played was SMITE, which is a 3rd-person action game. But I just played a bunch of private bot matches until I was relatively comfortable with the controls. It really isn't that big a deal. The only changes I made were rebinding 1-6 as item keys, mouse 4 to voice chat, mouse 5 to select summons, and space to select hero.

'Nother WASD camera player chiming in.

Skills are mapped to ZXCVBN
Attack Move is mapped to E, and Hold Position to Q.
Numbers are control groups, which I don't use.
Three side-buttons on my mouse take care of my top three item slots. I don't expect to have six actives, but whenever I have more, I just click. :<

You're not supposed to be farming in lane much. BH is such an awesome hero for quick burst damage.

Yeah, but no big LoL streamers are on right now. They'll get monster numbers tonight with their LCS games.

Granted, Dota is growing and that's good.
 
Luna may not be the best carry, but she's for damn sure my favorite carry.

23-minute manta + Bfly. 27 minute heart. and relevant all game long, unlike a lot of hard carries that need to afk farm for half the game in order to be moderately helpful (like fucking PL and Druid). Lucent Beam and Eclipse murder early and often.

But Luna and Dendi Invoker too stronk.

Still massively excited for next week with Silencer going in though. Definitely think he'll have an impact.

Not a set -- only a hat! I just displayed it with the riftshadow vest in some of those previews because it looks cool with it.

Yeah, Luna's effectiveness curve is one of the best in the game probably.

Honestly, that match was a lesson every pubber should know: Draft < 2 reliable disables and you're asking to lose every team fight. All Empire had was that weakass, slowass Gyro stun (that kept getting shot down) and the hope for an entangle. Good luck with that.

Folks, that doesn't get the fucking job done. Dota 101, really. Compare to Na'Vi's tornado, deafening, cold snap, lucent beam, split earth, reverse polarity. You can even throw Enchant's slow in there along with skewer. Not always, but often times a loss can be traced back to the drafting period...and to who had the better, more reliable, more available disables to help turn team fights. What was the drafter thinking.
 
Reading all this talk about WASD, makes me wonder just how many fingers you guys have on your left hand. Cuz I can't imagine it'd be comfortable scrolling diagonally while using a spell (thats like what, 3 keys simultaneously? )
