You can do it on either side.
You can win with any combination - really depends how well you communicate and skill level.
I had an interesting game this afternoon that I was a little curious about.
I was playing All Pick with a bunch of my friends who like to random their picks. We went into our game, and promptly lost every one of our lanes. The enemy team was getting kills all over the map. By 25 minutes, we'd lost all but one of our outer towers, were facing down 10K+ deficits in gold and experience, and they were taking Roshan. Then, they lost a fight to us trying to bust our final mid tower.
Then they lost that fight again.
And again.
And again.
Ultimately our carry-heavy team finally got enough power on a few people that we were able to get out of our base and retake the entire game.
Their first fight was sloppy and disorganized, and that's why they lost it. But even once they started getting strong initiations with Tidehunter's Ravage, they never took our tower.
I have some ideas about what they should have done differently, but I'm kinda curious what people think a team should do when they have an advantage and are trying to press into a well-defended base. What things did my opponents do wrong?

In the end, I felt really bad for their Timbersaw. Particularly because his Batrider was incompetent (look at his 1 hour items) and Tree was somehow useless. They snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
At one point, they had our mid rax, still had all their T2's, and Timbersaw had 20 Bloodstone charges and a Heart. He was the un-killable man, swinging from tree to tree like Spiderman. (I think you all can imagine what trying to kill a Timbersaw with a heart and that many bloodstone charges would be like for our team comp.) Everyone else was more or less doing their job and it was looking grim. Lina was offering GG's. At that point, even Bats got into the talking shit game after I killed him in what was starting to feel like garbage time.
"I'll just buy another gem". he did. In fact, he and his team bought 3 more and subsequently lost 3 more.
Thanks to GAF (if you'll recall our discussion about Doom the other day and the playdota linkage), I knew that Gem stops working if the carrier is doomed...so I directed Doom to ult the carrier every fight and I was able to get loose on 'em. I farmed fairly poorly after early game, mostly because I was roaming for kills, because they were 5-manning, and because they had gems and sents, making it rather unsafe to go out alone. We turtled for at least 35 minutes, surviving team fights and buying back to keep our rax alive.
I definitely could have played much better overall. But damn if Riki isn't pretty good. I didn't know about Skadi Riki until tonight when they told me to build it. Pretty fucking stronk. Our Earthshaker was much maligned, taking him 35 minutes or so to get his blink up...but he had a blink ult at the end defending our bot rax...I don't even know what the fucking happened. He popped his veil, blinked ulted and my computer screen flashed like Zeus ulted. They just melted. He had to feel like a fucking G. I felt the best for him because he died *constantly*.
I'll never know how those supports squandered full map control for 40 minutes. But they never really stopped pushing, so that was probably it. No time to farm for supports if they have to be on call to support tower/rax pushes. Still...no Blink force staff on Bat after 60 minutes? You have to wonder why his team didn't tell him what to build. Also, QoP didn't have shit. I could have swore she had a scepter. Maybe he rage sold the item at the end.

That Timersaw didn't have 4 stout shields so it's an easy win.
Edit: Also BTS will most likely reach their goal before their next broadcast the way it's going lol. Already at 23k. Goal is 25k, 29 days left.

Hoping that number continues to climb, 25k could basically get them into the door with precious little buffer to eat into.

Question is, is it worse than being a support and laning with a carry who auto-attacks the creeps, runs off by himself to feed and only has treads after 25 mins?
Guess it depends on whether you want to feel helpless at the start of the game or at the end.

Nah. I got the Sparrowhawk bow as a drop. By itself it still modifies the Powershot animation, it's just other things that change when you have the complete rest of the set.
And I had issues with the store the other day too. Worked later after restarting Dota.
FFS... had a game where the enemy Silencer abandons like ten minutes in, and reconnects like right after the abandon message goes off. This is a free chance for anyone on your team to abandon and screw you over at any moment they feel like it. The enemy Drow DCs, so 5v4, free victory right? NOPE. Our DK disconnects after he fails to gank the entire team, and later on our Ogre disconnects for no real reason. So the 5v4 turned into a 3v4. Doesn't help that our TA was throwing when we had the advantage. When someone is trying to give you a free victory... just take it.

Pretty popular in SEA Dota. Not so much the other places.
Used to be top pick a year ago, then disappeared. Now he's picked here and there sometimes. He's a good hero but I guess the fact that he's melee makes people pick other supports. Wisp/Kotl/SD are the top support picks lately.

No, the issue with SK is that he needs a blink dagger to really contribute to the fullest in a game. If you compare that to the other top supports atm, nyx, kotl, disruptor, sd, etc, they need literally no items to do everything. Same reason you don't see ES either.

If you have the ticket, activate it from your backpack first.
Then go to the Watch tab, and then the Tournament tab.
If there's a game on, there'll be a huge 'LIVE GAME' stamp next to the tournament in question.
Open tab, select game, load screen, watch.
True, Tidehunter has the same problem, don't see him much anymore either. Need to much farm to get a non (direct) support item like mek. Pushing that to the 5th who will get it really late is not preferred.
Around your hero. Never have him centered, always have your hero at the edge of the screen so you can see your surroundings better. Look for possible ganks and what yoour teammates are doing, look for runes if the location is warded.

look at this video from 12:00 (or just watch the whole thing if you like), purge doesn't have good map awareness and this game he doesn't play very well, but you will see how he uses the free camera...
