Dota 2 Beta Thread 4: Even Mike Ross Plays [Elder Titan]

Zeus rapidly approaching my favorite hero in pub games. Ult -> bolt -> arc -> refresher -> rampage.

I did this the other day with a warlock on my team.
He ulted+death bonded their whole team. Then I did ult-refresh-ult and 1 shot their entire team. Was fun.

I know it has been some time since TI2 and then the Naga and Lycan nerfs, but how do people feel about her as a viable hard carry.

I almost never see her in pubs or even competitive play, last game was probably three plus months ago with orange vs ig. When I have played her I can definitely feel the difference on the base damage, but that should not have completely destroyed her as it seemed to with invoker. Speaking percentage of picks competitively of course.

Or is this just another meta trend for Dota and she will be back sometime?

Bring kotl with you in lane and have the enemy team rage.
Yuuup.

Did another kotl + pl lane last night in a single draft game, with my dota bud playing pl. He went 8-0-5 in the first 10 minutes against a bounty hunter + alchemist lane. They tried warding our pull camp, but we would just intercept them and make them cry. Instead of going for items, I just went wards + sentry as often as possible. BH was so perplexed why his early invis wasn't working.

So much fun.

Just flavour of the month stuff.

Naga's base damage was reduced by like fucking 12 or something, which is pretty insane. But if you get a quelling blade on her it should be fine. People found a counter to naga and she slowly faded away, a few months ago it was all about Sven, they nerfed him slighty and now it's all about PL, who is always fading away now I feel. See a lot of Luna now.

Naga's central appeal has and remains the illusions and ultimate, I feel. Those strengths essentially remain (illu cd longer now on earlier levels and Dark Seer isn't a win button with it), still sees play from time to time for those reasons. Still a worthwhile carry pickup I think, though you may want someone else for your number one farmer slot.

I was in lane with him as Warlock. I should've picked KotL actually, that would have been funny. I messed up though because I popped a clarity right when a ranged creep's attack was coming to me. It's like "welps guess I can't do anything now." Oh well we won. Warlock's slow is seriously underrated. Even when the enemy thinks they're out of it they are still slowed.

Her net is insane too though, specially because it goes through bkb. And it's 5 seconds. She's a good hero, Strong illusions, nuke, long disable, and good teamfight ult. Need a decent team around her like with all carries of course.

Definitely agree, it's like having a Dark Troll Warlord in your back pocket. Melee BKB carries, channeled teamfight contributors, she can ruin a lot of days quite rapidly.

I guess my follow up questions then would beitem chose on naga. I use to go for stout, branches, consumables into wand, ring of aquil., and then rush heart>difuseal>butterfly.

Is this still ok, or is it now needed to go into the vanguard>radiance pathing.

I think you see tranqs/soul ring > soul ring/tranqs > casual hp booster > diffusal > heart more often than vanguard radiance, but idk tbh, I haven't played her at all, just watched what other players tend to do (mostly iceiceice). milk/109 would know better

but don't get heart then diffusal or else you do no dps/can't split push as effectively/farm jungle and lane simultaneously and you'll get ignored in teamfights i would think

Generally Heart isn't something you rush, it's more of a lategame thing. Get Diffusal first out of those, then you could go Heart or Butterfly depending on what the situation calls for. If you have REALLY awesome farm early on, then get a Radiance first.

Radiance is great, but definitely should be gotten as early as possible so you can split your illusions to numerous jungle camps and farm them simultaneously. I'd say skip the Vanguard if safely doable. You've got 30 seconds of Radiance burn on each illusion, so you should be able to farm without exposing yourself too badly to the enemy team.

If Diffusal is more to your taste, I'd probably go that first and get some early use out of its Purge charges, delaying it slightly with an early Point Booster if you need the HP (can build the Booster into a Heart later).

Honestly unless your name is Axe, just get a PMS (and a vit booster if you need hp) instead of a Vanguard. Cheaper and better unless you're tanking waves of creeps.

So THAT'S why I get huge healthbars sometimes when playing Meepo. Seriously the most annoying UI bug ever...

Did they ever fix the XP bar thing on the Meepo clones? The XP bar would extend way to the left of the level number and cover up part of the minimap.

Radi is a pretty unrealistic goal in pubs, I mean to say that if you farmed a radiance in pubs, your team is probably stomping them.

I like diffusal -> vanguard/drums -> manta.

Naga really isn't that great as a main carry as botolf said. She's a nice semi carry/support hybrid, similar to mirana. Particularly great at screwing over heros like sven or ursa who cannot afford to be kited in the early game.

Holy crap Doom Bringer is so fun to play and so badass!

(and I got a rare axe for Axe when I used him woot!)

Doombringer + Hand of Midas = swimming in cash, it's funny if the enemy doesn't capitalize on your early weakness, you just go into the fight fully equipped while their carry is still struggling to get his first big item

Lion is seriousy my favourite ganker. You can keep your shitty Riki/Bounty/Clinkz. The second he hits lvl 6 he can take out anything

I've been being safe and going boots->Vanguard->huge flaming sword.
