Dota 2 Beta Thread 4: Even Mike Ross Plays [Elder Titan]

So I'm a newbie, I've been coming into this thread every once in a while to ask questions and make comments about the game. Once of my comments has been the people that play get a bad rap....

Well today I finally saw the bad starting to come out.

First in a bot game, we had a guy pick omni and demand mid. All four of us demanded he go top, and he buys a quelling blade, no donkey and no wards. I'm top with him, and he wont heal me no matter what. I left the lane to respec and jungle (With Tide, lolz), just because he was making me mad. We win 48-5 or something, and he goes "bad game, horrible team". I just don't get some people. I had to report him, as he was namecalling and other bullshit.

Then, in another bot game we had a smurf feeder. I have never seen anything like this. Game starts and he says that hes sorry that hes new, and then proceeds to spend the ENTIRE game running up mid and feeding without hesitation. Later on, he was buying back in... which means he was watching and paying attention.... I can't imagine the what would cause someone to behave this way. All four of us reported him, we won, and didn't rage out, so he didn't even get what he wanted.

Last thing was kinda not that bad, but kind of worse at the same time... We did a pub match with a Smurf. This guy was incredibly good compared to us. He just murdered everyone. With Zeus! I was a little impressed, but it made the game so horrible and not fun. Why would someone want to do this? It only will make him worse not better. It was so sad. But it was BRUTAL. None of us wanted to play again when it was over... I checked his DOTA profile and he was lvl 1 and this was his first match ever.

So yeah. Some people are dicks.
 
Game is broken for me. I was kicked out of a game I was playing with a "Warning connection to steam lost, cannot connect to server" and now when I boot the game it keeps search for the DOTA 2 network. Had to leave my team. Not cool.

The guys name was MilliVanilli with some numbers after it...

I made a comment asking if he was doing it because he was mad they took his Grammy away...

and not even a laugh from my teammates! I mean, fuck this guy, but who the fuck do my teammates think they are not laughing at my old pop culture reference.


So then I felt old too. I feel old a lot when I play DOTA.
 
Anybody know why the Steam Community Market is so selective about what items can be sold? I was hoping to cash out my Timebreaker/DC Hook.

They have the Radiant HUD for 13k credits. A bit too rich for my blood, but very nice regardless.

I can't seem to get this to work...The trade keeps timing out after like a min. Everything works well up until I hit confirm trade button...then it hangs at "make a trade" and then I get an error from Steam.

His ult needs something else. I still saying it healing allies would fit his theme well and make it really good. Anther option is they could just drop the cooldown to like 30 seconds and make the mana cost constant.
 
I hate this game so much.

Single Draft. I have a choice of Clockwerk, Morph and QoP.

I suck at morph, and in hindsight I should have picked Clock. But I pick QoP.
My team picks: Zeus, SF, Tusk and Pudge vs Slark, DP, PL, SK and Gyrocopter.

First sign its a bad game. No courier. I meant to buy courier, but I brain farted and bought a TP. (second mistake)

Second sign its a bad game. No communication. We have 4 potential mids and no one calls it. No lanes, nothing.

The Zeus starts shit talking me for not joining his epic 1 v 4 teamfight.
The Pudge cant land a hook.
The SF player seemed somewhat decent but not that skilled with him.
The Tusk fucked off most the game and hides behind towers all game.

Towards the end the Zeus would sit in base and KS with his ulti. It was just frustrating all around.

This was my fifth loss in a row. It seems all my games have been going this crappy lately, while the other team is blessed with either good team comps or competent players.

Thanks for letting me vent, now pick me apart for being a noob and not playing better and all that shit.
 
I just started playing it, what does it mean when people are feeding bots?

getting yourself killed by them? what benefit does that give?

Do you only find loot by defeating NPC's in the game?

Feeding is basically just running into enemies for no reason other than giving the team more exp/gold. You can get loot drop but it isn't common unless you level up with battle points
 
How does one actually go about farming creeps with Undying? Almost all the money I get from playing Undying comes from hero kills and assistx. If I end up making anything more than Arcane Boots, Vanguard, Pipe it means the game is already decided.

practice last-hitting with him. Don't expect to end a game with 200cs on him. Get CS when you can and keep your ass with the team.

You never farm with Undying, he isn't that type of hero.
 
Had a solo queue game earlier we could have won despite our early mistakes, but the rest of the team gave up and started arguing over a few minor things, and called gg after the enemy Riki got two or three kills. I couldn't even remember the last time I was stomped by a Riki before this. I THOUGHT I WAS OUT OF THE TRENCH!

Not exactly the greatest team comp ever (cough Bloodseeker cough), but I think if we didn't give up so quickly and start infighting, we could have held our own and won. Also, people paying attention to the charging KotL would have been nice too, I felt like I was the only one paying attention to it so I just started calling it on voice chat every time and my team eventually caught on.

Edit: I should clarify that the reason I have shit items is because I tried to pause to go get the door, and my team immediately unpaused, and the other team Force staffed me out of the fountain and killed my twice while AFK. Also I spent the whole game supporting OD, and I couldn't get any farm in that didn't go to Dust or Wards.

It's not a photoshop.
AFAIK it is yet another bug exploit I found besides the ultra gold farming one.
It might be in the game, but that is my own screenshot - not a photoshop or something I found on a website.

I got that HUD by playing a game where you have to have players with each HUD.
Switch to Dire HUD.
Select a melee creep.
Select Radiant HUD.

Voila 1/2 and 1/2.
Try it, it's not the easiest thing to come across.

At that point I don't think you need the Leech Seed effect even, you essentially have like a Ravage crossed with a Black Hole

Invis: Flat mana cost of 60
Seed: Either reduce mana cost to 100 or increase cast range/slow amount
Ult: Heal any allies that go in the radius of the spell during its duration; Make it heal at the rate it used to damage.

That's where you're supposed to get your money from with Undying. Most of the farm should go to your 1 and 2 (carries), but if you find yourself in an empty lane, you can pick up a cs here and there. Undying is all about team fight though, he should always be TPing to countergank and be present at every single team fight.

Against Doom linkens is a fair pickup, but otherwise Bloodstone should always take the second item slot after the Orchid, it allows you to steamroll so hard. Then Scythe, then get a Shivas or just stack mana regen.

I think refresher orb is really underrated on Storm; highest mana regen in the game besides Bloodstone, and two pulls and two sheeps (and two Shivas if you have it) is really nice.

Just find another friend or two to play with. If you don't have any Dota 2 playing friends, add any non-douche with a mic that you have a good match with and play with them. Occasionally I've had some great teams with all random teammates, and I've added those people, but for the most part I've got a few people I regularly play with and it just makes most matches this crazy thing called fun.
