Trust me to get Gramma Sharpie's Smokin' Rug and Grampa sharpie's Shin Shooter and I don't ever play sniper.

I'm down. I am about to hit my 100th game played and am almost .500 after a horrific first few dozen games. Steam name same as GAF. I play around the same time, even though I'm east coast. Once the wife and kids are in bed, the keyboard and mice come out.
Cool I will message you when I am home from work.

The mental gymnastics some LoL players perform to justify unlocking champs is staggering.

There's a reason people don't like "unlocking" characters in competitive fighters or units in an RTS. For a game that strives to be balanced and competitive, it just doesn't make sense.
In the latest dota2 vs LoL article on a gaming site
LoL, on the other hand, is balanced around team compositions—a late-game team, a poke-damage team, an AoE ult team, etc. LoL’s balance and meta is constantly changing, so that a great team comp may be dominant for a few weeks, until someone figures out how to counter it, and then everyone’s experimenting again.

At least he's not complete 'LoL is better blabla'

How come I always hear LoL metagame is boring and stagnant? Do I just hear the haters?

Also people got paid to write that tripe.

It wasn't when I played like a year ago (I think they just added jarvan IV).

When I play now it def is, you'll get a ton of shit if you don't follow the lanes strictly, and I heard you can get suspensions if you break the meta in ranked mm.

I think the basic metagame in terms of roles is pretty static (1 AD and 1 hard support bot, AP mid, 1 jungler, 1 bruiser top) but the particulars change a great deal all the time.

And honest to god I don't understand why people write stuff up like that. I play and watch both games and though the relation of LoL to DotA2 is obvious, they just feel so different that I rarely compare them in my mind.

I mean, the lack of buybacks in LoL alone changes the complexion of a match a great deal in terms of strategy, and that's just one thing of many.

It is nothing like the actual game. Last hitting is one thing, but to last hit while 3 guys are casting crazy shit at you.

It is a beta. It says that people should give feedback, what you are complaining about is reasonable and it would be better than you post it in the dev forums instead of complaining about 'forced' tutorial.

Oh yeah, the game crashed my whole damn computer.

The basic meta game and the particulars are both stagnant in LoL. I mean not on an individual champion level, but the laning is basically identical in every game and the variety of champions is ridiculously small compared to dota. I know it's just a cliched meme, but the whole 'we need new hero, it should be melee bruiser with gap closer and AoE' is actually kind of accurate. Which champion in which role is most popular atm may change, but they mostly play very similar, so it doesn't really matter in the overall play style of the game. The mechanical difference between Phantom Lancer and Faceless Void, for example is about 100 times greater than the mechanical difference between, say, Kog'Maw and Caitlyn. A Chen or Meepo really make all of LoL's heroes look like clones, and there isn't really the kind of role switching in LoL that there is in Dota. You aren't going to see the equivalent of carry venge or support naga in LoL. Jungling heroes have decent variety, every other role plays really similarly.

As you say, the lanes in LoL are basically set in concrete because of the blue/red buff and the dragon. A trilane or dual mid in LoL? not gonna happen. On the rarest of occasions you'll see a dual lane top because one of the teams feels they can't contest dragons against a particular lineup, but that is the maximum amount of lane variety you will see in LoL.

Not sure if anyone posted this yet (went back a few pages) but Alchemists new swords are bugged.

I disagree you. While it is nothing like the actual game, it's a good thing that they split these mechanics apart first so you can learn them individually. You need to learn to crawl before you can walk. Trying to throw some asshole spamming Illuminates at you while you try to farm is not really going to teach anyone anything their first time playing. They need to have a basic concept of last hitting, then later they can lump on top of that dealing with harass and such.

I really hope they have special "challenges" for certain heroes with mechanics that aren't quite as straight forward to explain. Maybe a map for AA to practice sniping someone with Ice Blast, and how to monitor their movement speed so you can guess where they are. Have the player do it once with constant vision so they can get a feel for how fast the Ice Blast is, then have them do it with brief vision when they run away from you, then no vision when they get away from you. A Pudge hooking tutorial is obvious, as well as a tutorial for Kunkka (2 points in X + Torrent, etc.).

It's a good idea to split the mechanics of the game apart rather than immediately overwhelm the player, otherwise they won't retain any of it.

I think the server just crashed, game closed itself and when I reopened it the match was over.
It gave us the win luckily, which is good because we were dominating.

Looks like plastic wrap.

I laughed really hard when I did his ult. I wanted to check em out in game and noticed they were bugged even on his back so I got 6 to test his ult and got that. Seriously looks like he is running around hitting people with a big sheet of plastic wrap.

No one actually learns to last hits in a live game anyway. You first learn to last hit perfectly against just creeps in a practice game then you graduate to last hitting while there is harassment and denying from bots and finally you graduate to playing against humans. This is just a first quest, you expected them to throw players into a full game without going over individual mechanics? There are still a lot of mechanics they have to go over and slowly they will start giving you quests that are more like real game scenarios.

In a stunning display of being unable to keep their own shit straight, Valve has enabled the still-immortal Dragonclaw Hook to drop again:

Match ID: 138570790

Quick, play now and pray before it's hotfixed!

I can't wait to see a billion more enemy teams offer me things for my hook the next time I play Pudge. I don't think I've played Pudge since the Dragonclaw Hook turned Immortal.

You won't see trilanes in LoL because they would get too far behind exp and money-wise. It's not worth having three in a lane while letting the jungle camps just go to waste. Dual lanes top happen all the time in tournaments, you will rarely see it during your normal day-to-day play.

I'm really mad right now. 83 minutes.

Won mid hard, troll didn't get anything, not even decent xp. Then got all t2 and t3 towers fairly soon. Pushing everywhere without dying. Then the other team started playing passive, only fought when I wasnt there, my team staying in mid doing nothing or just feeding around. In the end two of them just went and pushed alone and of course dying. "i'm tired of this game". I could have done better, too many active items to use, didnt use sheepstick properly, but still I feel I couldn't have done anything to win this game.

Feels batman.

That Necrolyte was MVP. 43 assists I said WOW! He was involved in 2 out of every 3 kills for his team.

That Lifestealer was absolute garbage though. Fed the whole game didn't get a single kill and had miniscule items for 83 minutes.

Really weird game :S

We had quite the awkward team composition on both sides. Still surprised we managed to win with 4 magic based characters.

I Like to use Keeper of the Light but he's so tricky to use. I feel like that I always have to stay behind the team or else I'm shredded to pieces in an instant. I think I'm playing way too defensive with this hero. I had a lot of kills here but it's mainly because of Illuminate in team fights or when the enemies were fleeing.

I really want to learn to play Invoker now. The guy in the team was so great with him. He does appear to be hard to use though.

Did Ursa and Naix seriously have nothing but those items after 80 minutes of play? Wow.

Keep in mind the aura damages every hero in a battle. They were all 5 at some point, I think they were a stack of 3 or 4.

But yeah, our late game heroes sucked hard, that's really why we lost.

43 assists and 10 kills out of a possible 54 kills total. He was only not a part of 1 kill.
