Dota 2 Beta Thread 4: Even Mike Ross Plays [Elder Titan]

Wonder if Skywrath Mage not having a mount pictured indicates that he'll use his functional wings to fly around, would seem logical given the species' backstory (and Venge's, she doesn't walk by choice).

all the mockups at the link are women. I think he mean which style of female/outfit. Helmet with horns? Bigass plume? Battleflags? etc.
Mega-spartan plume is striking, but each design has stuff I really like.

I really hope Goblin Techies have 1 pushing the cart and the other sitting on a massive pile of landmines, because that'll be the shit

Going by the textures, were getting something close to the middle TC/ET art.

Abaddon looks great though, hope we get something anywhere near that level of badass.
Judging by the materials in test, looks like the model follows the concept art very closely.

Feels good to be a Kunkka that can destroy a wave of mega creeps and two catapults in one hit. Though mega mega creeps are always too much :(

Purge mentions in the comments that Bristle and Skywrath were playable while there, and Skywrath looked like that art, but Valve said that they weren't quite happy with it and were remodeling him.

So expect a bit different look. I guess that explains his rougher looking textures in last weeks patch.

Think I need to enforce a rule on myself to only play when there is a 4stack or more.

:(

Same here. I always have the luck to get into a team with another party and you always get blamed for everything that goes wrong. Like I have to fight for last hits with the Mirana in my lane while the Void gets free farm with the Crystal Maiden in his lane only harassing the enemy heroes. He had approximately me and Mirana's last hits added together and feels the need to call me out for my lane performance :/

For anyone interested.

I assume this is an old concept art for Skywrath Mage

Is there any reason that phase would be more/equally viable than treads on Drow?

Treads gives you the extra attack speed and agility which is really nice, but there's times I feel like the modest extra damage and movement burst of the phase boots could help me catch up to fleeing heroes and land that first frost arrow to go in for the kill. Yeah, the treads will definitely scale better due to the agility interaction with her aura, but the phase might be a better choice if going for a more early skirmish rather than farming build, similar to building drums on PL or Luna. She can definitely be a terror even without much in the way of items due to her ult, with the silence and frost arrows always bringing great utility. Plus she only has average movement speed, so phase boots would definitely ensure that few could escape.

Just had the worst game ever as NS. Started out great with a double kill for me, then mid abandoned and everything went to shit, my team did ok but I did the dumbest shit and died way too much. I really don't get that hero, he's fast as fuck but that's about it, had no idea how to play him in a defensive situation.

Hey guys, I've had this game installed for a few months now but only played a few games so far. I want to start getting into it, so are there any good videos or tutorials I can watch to get me up to speed? I used to play LoL so I thought jumping into Dota 2 would be easy but I still can't figure out simple things like where the secret shops are located, what items to buy, and how to use the courier. Anything that can help me be less of a noob would be much appreciated!

You weren't mid as Nightstalker?

You already fucked up. NS is a ganker who relies on his absurdly powerful early game spells to guarantee a sizeable lead for the team. With early levels, at first night he can kill any hero on command with 2 nukes and the silence. His nukes does a lot of damage early gsme, even mini stuns to cancel TPs and of course the slow. No one can out run NS that early either when they are silenced.

The best way to play defensively with NS is to get a Scepter for the unobstructed night vision. And of course tank of. Since it was a 4v5 situation it was probably a lost cause because NS isn't exactly a hard carry but you should've went mid and dominated early game for your team. NS with less that 4-5 kills/assists in his first night is a failure.

Thanks for the tips, was my first game as NS. Was Single Draft with the choice of Jugger,NS and Rubick, figured NS would be the hardest to fuck up, guess I was wrong.

Not going mid with nightstalker is not really a huge issue.

Horse hair plume ftw!!!!!

I hope that's the one they are going for. Sure, it's a bit tacky, but I can see how a combination of her female features in massive armor, a huge pole arm or two handed sword and that horse hair plume could look really amazing ingame.

I am not an artist, though. Maybe I am wrong and they take a completely different route. In that case, any cosmetic set to fix this would surely be the first complete set I buy from the shop.
Please save us if they scrap this Anuxi

Also, I really like that they are finally getting bolder with some heroes. Judging by these concept arts, the gender switch and lack of a horse are going to make this iteration of LC much more interesting than I imagined. It's somewhat strange to see them get creative with the more generic heroes though.

Yo, Bounchfx, if I was only going to buy one of those sets, which one would you want me to get?

NS is supposed to be the scariest thing on the map from 6-12 minutes. He doesn't even really need farm (although that's nice), but he wants levels for Void, HitN, and a point in his silence. His Ult can be skipped until it's almost the dawn of the second day.

Next time, once night hits you should have your bottle. Run around picking up runes and murdering people who are out of position (plentiful in most pub games).

I've been kinda testing Treant, but really, what's this hero? It has huge damage and hit points, and his "new" E is good stuff (for early/mid game), but I cant wrap my head about it. I'm willing to give it a shot as an offlaner with mek that can set up some iniciation and be useful in some team fights, but... I just dont see it doing that much, really.

Looking at the LC textures from Cyborgmatts blog update last week and were definitely getting the flag version, or at least something close to it.

Oh man, just had an all random game. Yesterday I joined a game and it lagged horribly and I had to abandon, causing my team to lose. It was my first abandon ever and I've never had such terrible lag like that before (my net as a whole was going slow yesterday, not sure why). Their entire team were carries, so we had to push hard. I randomed Shadow Shaman, so I suppose that's a good character to get against that type of team. About halfway through the match I realize something: our Doom was the Death Prophet on my team last night when I abandoned. I remembered his name because his talk icon kept coming up but I didn't hear anything. I confirmed and it was totally him and I asked if he remembered last night's game with Nyx abandoning. He said yeah but it was no big deal. However I still felt bad. Luckily we won the game pretty decisively. My linescore isn't impressive, but I pushed hard all game and got a lot of buildings. It's good that have that sort of REDEMPTION.

Damnit, why is bristleback's art so elusive.

LC looks really cool, I'm actually glad they got rid of her mount and didn't make her name something stupid like Tresdina (there is no need to feminize her name...). Little bummed they didn't keep the xenophobic aspect of her character, at least by looking at the lore.

"There was a concept art of Bristlebog as well but somehow I didn't take a picture of it. He looked completely different in game(very early concept though)."

Ah ok, well damn valve has been getting really picky with their hero concepts, which is a good thing. This implies skywrath looks similar to the latest art then. I suppose he's mountless now as well.

Abaddon also looks really cool. Wonder if he's from the narrow maze or a fundamental of death (his horse looks similar to chaos knights in terms of effects).

Which is why I try not to ever take credit for a good play when I'm with friends – I don't wanna be that guy. Instead I blame the enemy for being bad instead of myself for being good, and I'll say "nice ice path", "sick black hole" or whatever relevant phrase to my teammate even if I know I gave them the perfect set up.

I try to reserve my bragging and complaining to outside of the game and with people that weren't involved. The only comments that are appropriate while you're there are encouragements to teammates or quick corrections for poor behaviour, in my mind.

damn! those concepts are sick! can't wait to see them in the game. I wonder which Legion they picked?

I think and hope the one with flags is it. You can see her face in the leaked textures and something that looks like a flag.

I wonder if they are holding off on the Venge redesign until they hammer out Skywrath's final version.

I was thinking that too. Those older designs are really going to stand out compared to these new ones.

Skywrath is apparently being remodelled because they don't like that look and dark seer is xenophobic but it doesn't mention that in the lore, don't see why it would need to be in LC's lore.

slowest attack speed
Puppey was saying that one of his spells doesn't work. Did they fix that?
