Dota 2 Beta Thread 4: Even Mike Ross Plays [Elder Titan]

Is there an easy way to get an estimate?

Hmm. Well, I suppose not really. There are certain items that are collectables or otherwise hard to get. Some of them are worth quite a bit more than they were when they were first introduced. Items that are now "Immortal", tournament couriers, unusual couriers with the right effects. That sort of thing. There are trading websites out there that can give you an idea of what the items you have may be worth.

Strange that because even for the games I do get Shadow Blade and Daedalus, people are telling me off for not having a battlefury.

Seriously hard to please people with this dude. I'm gonna play some mana kunkka to learn some torrent ships and see what happens.

Just ignore them, you're fucking Admiral Kunkka, you should be telling them off.

Say is it just me or are the Hard Bots even harder than most human matches at the early levels? o.o

The bots are far and away more co-ordinated than beginners. The problem with them is that they're infinitely more exploitable. Once you know the basics of the bot AI it's nigh impossible to lose to them barring four of your teammates going into full feed mode.

Also, please don't just stick with bots or you'll start developing terrible habits.

(Like being completely unable to lane... I hate my friends.)

Man. Wish they buff his and VS base movement speed, it is my main gripe for those two since they need to be pretty close to be effective....Jakiro at least has a very nice hp gain per level and all those long range abilities.

I think a range increase for the first rank of Nether Swap would be nice.

If you get some stupid bot heroes like Sniper and CK a bot game can be way harder than an entry level human game. I swear bot CK RNG values are rigged and Sniper always managed to Ulti you at the exact health required to kill you, a skill most human players aren't proficient with.

I was on a good win streak in MM then when BB came out I played an Unfair bot game to test him out. I went hard lane solo against Necro and CK thinking "nah man it's bots, I will just play it safe, get my levels early then own them". I got destroyed in lane hard.

Zeus bot, man. It's unfortunate they keep adding more bots so people miss out on that party.

Every. Single. Time.

YOU CAN'T RUN FROM HEAVEN!

People talking about officially supported custom maps... I wouldn't mind if valve or a talented community member made an Enfo's Team Survival map.

For those unfamiliar or have never played wc3, I believe it is two teams of five people, each person picks a hero, there's heroes in different roles. The goal of the game is to defend your portal from monsters (you have lives), and outlast the enemy team. To help you, you had the ability to spend mana accrued on a separate building to sabotage the other team (stun their carry, speed up mob waves, mana drain). It was a really fun game, even when you weren't playing against another team. It was like a last stand version of dota.

I think something like this would easily be doable with dota 2 assets.

I guess that means I'm bad, I can't last-hit at all against them :(

I do agree that Sniper bot is an asshole, especially late game when he STILL just last hits and won't push a lane, and he's a god at last hitting too. Zeus bot is also annoying as he just always seems to know. Even if you're jungling and let the creeps get you to low enough health, he knows, without wards. He just knows.

sounds like a dumbed down version of line wars. Which was pretty much superior imo

What if you have no intention of ever playing against people? Been playing moba's for years, spent hundreds throughout moba games, watch tournaments all the time, consider myself mechanically good, and always play against bots.

To me it's a lot like Raids in MMO's. I don't want to place any amount of my enjoyment on other players. I get really into a competitive multi-player game like once a year maybe but it just isn't what I want from Dota.

I realize I'm the minority but coop vs. AI queues take less than 30 seconds, I get items, I enjoy it, I win every game, and my wife will actually play. The assumption that everyone playing bot games is there because they are bad can sometimes be annoying.

I have a guy on my friends list, about 25 wins, over 1000 hours of dota, all he plays is bot games. He seems to be pretty skilled/competent, I've recently been playing a lot of bot games and it's really peaceful.

Luna bot is annoying as hell too. The most annoying in fact is Jakiro bot, those fucking ice paths.

Tides of Blood > DOTA.

Where's pudge wars?

And tree tag enting.

Thought Purge opening Anuxi's chests was pretty funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33tSbo_9uwA

Also after what I think is well over a hundred games with my win/loss in the negative, I finally made it even. I've beaten DOTA.
Damn I know that feel. The whole experience of checking a chests' contents a second time to make sure there's really something in there I want to play the lotto for after getting burned twice...and getting burned again and being salty.

Just remember guys: you can get most rare items in these crates after-market @ 2 items/key. So if what you want is just a Rare, trade for it. If you want to play the lotto for a mythical or legendary, best of luck.

Never played line wars, watching it on youtube they look different enough to the point where its hard to compare em. Enfos had pre built heroes, line wars looks like you choose your skills. I'm not sure if line wars had shop or not, Enfos had recipes and items similar to Dota.

The annoying thing about bot games is they tend to stack stuns and they play 5 man dota from basically as soon as the first tower goes down. Also unfair bots have basicallly mathematically perfect timing on last hits and denies, but I guess that's why they are called unfair. :P

Laning against an unfair sniper bot is like some new level of hell.

Only way to lane against bots is to out harass them. If you send them away to regen they won't come back until a long time and then you can out level them after which you can kill them.
