Eh...

I know people who are as close to Valve as he is, from Team Fortress 2 and what Valve tells them, so I know he'd probably know (and could have even been told to post it on Twitter)

I have no reason not to believe him

THE GRINCH IS HERE

edit: is gaf working like shit for anyone else these last couple of days?

Yeah, there's quite a few people like that. Some of the casters talk about it as well - their direct connection to someone at Valve that is related to DotA 2. I can imagine, at pretty much any time, they can text/call/skype/message/whatever someone and get a straight/honest answer quickly.

I tried that Refresher Specter build in a co-op bot game.

No early survivability made Spectre an easy target, 2 stuns and I died. Couldn't effectively farm jungles because I didn't have enough points in Dispersion and no good regen. Made Diffusal, Treads, Radiance in 20-25 mins still. Game finished exactly as I finished my Refresher.

I think you need an early Tranquils then Disassemble them into Vlads for this build. This build definitely requires Treads on Spectre after you disassemble. After Vlads you go for Radiance + Diffusal. I did this in a second game and it worked out better.

Also the build would be more effective in a human vs human game because bots are up each others ass all the time. The rare times where I hit my ulti and got an isolated hero it was an easy kill with Diffusal.

I couldn't imagine playing Puck with Orb and Jaunt being on the same hotkey, just would not be the same to me. I have to have them seperate.

That's not a solo queue pubstomper build. If you don't have a dedicated babysitter or can coordinate haunts with 4 others I'm not sure how successful you can be.

Yea I agree with this. You definitely need the space and some team advantage to pull it off. Its a win big or go home type build. When it works it will melt the team but when they start applying pressure Spectre wouldn't be able to survive long enough to farm her cores.

It's definitely a build that you need support from your team to succeed with. But it's completely nasty for comebacks. I was trilaned against (Necro/Lina/ES) in the game I posted here, I had to call in a lot of help from Clock to get the farm I needed. Even then, we were falling behind pretty badly. Like any Spectre game, you want your team to make fights away from you so you can farm safely and threaten them with Haunt.

I'm not sure why you'd go for Vlads though, it gives you very little and is halfway through to a relic.

You don't need to know Valve people to be good at pattern recognition. ;)

I don't think there was an update for two weeks last year around the vacation. I don't see why that would change this year.

You want Vlads for jungling early and consistently plus you can 1v1 against heroes easier early on. With the amount of damage you will be dishing out the item will let you survive longer and push harder. It worked out real well for me.

I think Spirit Breaker is currently my favorite hero, so insanely fun, and pretty strong on the lane with a decent team mate/s.
Also, best hero to 1v1 with.

Oh btw, buff pl/kotl, so hard to lose against.

Played him for the first time last night (oddly enough, against a PL), and I totes agree. He is such a beast from the very beginning; I was slapping Medusa, Doom, and even Pudge around like they were my cat's playtoys.
I don't have a cat.

What build do you use? I went MoM and Armlet, but I regret buying the Armlet because the two of those items together meant I started dying really fast. I should've gotten a BKB. I hear Shadow Blade is really fun on him. I built a Battle Fury in an attempt to counter PL, but it was too late by the time I finished it, as he had already finished his Diffusal + Heart.

He's the same guy who asked us why were we expecting Diretide last year. As if Valve was getting ready a year early.

Ksan went the same build, treads, MoM and then armlet. You shouldn't die that easy with those items since they give you so much hp. Only problem is if you dive too many heroes, but you really just want to charge in on an easy kill and get out before you get counter ganked. BKB might be worth getting instead of armlet if you can't gank without getting killed in return. I just go bkb after the armlet or start building an AC if they can't kill you.

Actually, I always go boots->stick->helm of iron will (armor+regen on the lane)->pts->armlet->mask of madness
After that, in most games it's bkb then AC, or just skip to AC if there's no reason at all to get bkb.
Try to armlet efficiently, and use mom when you use your ulti, run for safe targets until you have bkb (where you don't have to tank everything when having mom up). I turn on/off armlet a lot, and armlet juke obviously :p
You shouldn't really go bfury against pl as SB though, try to pick him off with some help instead, it might be worth carrying dust.

74 vs 49 kills, yet we lose! :/

Spectre has no need to farm the jungle b/c she has no ability to flash farm and doesn't build BF. It's more efficient for her to be freezing the lane and farming lane creeps. You can 1v1 any hero already anyways with desolate and dispersion, and that 2k gold could be better spent towards 2/3 of ur diffusal/heart or 1/2 of ur relic. The hero doesn't want to push b/c its escape mechanism is very weak compared to say waveform, blink, doppelwalk. That hero just wants to freeze lanes, farm, and crush with haunt
