Dota 2 Beta Thread 4: Even Mike Ross Plays [Elder Titan]

The reddit link --> With the recent DDoS attacks I thought it would be beneficial for the professional players out there (or anyone else encountering such attacks) who might suffer from DDoS attacks.

For the new players/members the G1: Champions League is the 2nd biggest Dota tourney in the world.
For the first time Western players are being flown to China to play the top Asian teams for a LAN tournament.
So if you want to see what the difference is between regular games and pro games watch and get good.
All the best teams are featured.

Oh man, this is bad. And 2nd game in a row at least. I honestly don't think this game will progress any further, they're gonna have to postpone it.

Even if the teams were to switch over to raidcall or mumble today if they don't know how to/can't change their IP addresses it wouldn't make any difference. They would need to get a new IP every time they played if they used skype between matches.
 
Is it just speculation that all the DDoSing is due to item betting and the sudden rise of that seen over the past 7 days, or is there something more tangible behind it?

Game is postponed :(

Teams need to get on the fixes for this though. This has been going on for multiple days and they are still getting ddosed.

I guess, but this is something that could have taken a half hour to sort out with some random trustworthy tech guy after all the DDOSing bullshit started. And betting sites tightening up only now that shit is hitting the fan? The naivety is just flabbergasting.

Oh, absolutely. If the players had taken any time at all to secure themselves this would be a non-issue. The problem is that they haven't and so they get to suffer for it during a match.

As for the betting sites that's some grimy shit, but I have to imagine that if you were really to stand to gain from all of this you'd be a bit more subtle.

Funny thing is that kazabi got ddosed like three times in an irc inhouse channel when we used to play dota 1. Guy who did it was a known Swedish cheater in 1.6, and eventually got banned for maphacking due to us...

he should have used a bouncer...
 
Had the funniest match yesterday.

The other team had a Void carry. He managed to kill himself twice.

First he catches our darkseer in his Chrono. Thing is. Our DS managed to quickly pop a Ion-shield on him self before he got caught. Even upon seeing this the Void decides to activate his Mask of madness, resulting in a very quick death.

Later in the game I pop my ulti in a teamfight. (I was Luna) And then he pops his chrono on me and again activates his mask of madness while my ulti keeps raining down on him. Again resulting in his death.

Good dota fun.

Why do void players buy this item? I understand Backtrack is OP and needs a nerf but when you DO somehow not backtrack some damage, why would you want it amplified?
 
MoM is so good on Void, Bash does double damage inside of the Chrono so you want as many bashes as possible.

Void loves attack speed since his bash does a ton of damage on top of the stun (especially in Chrono). MoM is extremely cost effective for the amount of damage it gives you. That said, I don't like the item very much because you can just get nuked down so quickly.

I think the maelstrom procs a lot more than timelock for me.

Backtrack is fine, why would it need a nerf? He's barely picked in pro games and if he is, he doesn't win the game because of backtrack.

I think Void actually has a fairly low winrate..

Its the only way at its cost to get significant attack speed inside a Chronosphere, and you want your Chronos to be relevent all game. Nothing sadder then a lv 7 void who lands a sphere and does like 1/6th of the enemies HP in the time limit.
 
MoM allows void to participate way earlier, which makes him a viable pick over someone like AM or medusa who need some farm to do anything in pubs.

I'm honestly hoping more for 6.78 then I am any new heroes. Both would be delicious.

Just get a quelling blade and sit in radiants jungle and push the wave when you can.

Idk, I guess I've been burned too many times by having a void on my team build boots quelling blade and mask of madness by 25 minutes.

I've been thinking, why not shadowblade on Void? I mean...perfect chronos everytime in theory right? AND you got some extra attack speed and another escape mechanism! I'm serious about this too, I was playing Troll with some of my friends and convinced Lifestealer to get a blink dagger, so he can just blink in, abysall stun and then kill them easily because of my ult. When they turn around to attack him he can just rage and blink away. Then again, EVERYTHING is good on lifestealer, remember seeing one build euls so he would have no mana problems and more move speed.
 
Void can really make or break things with the Chronosphere and is definitely top 3 hardest carries if not the hardest carry simply because of that. That said, it's a riskier pick because if you don't land epic Chronos, then you're not nearly as effective. Sort of a hail mary if nothing else good is available vs. the opposing team.
