I keep opening chests of the divine shaper hoping for a doom sword or slark hat, but instead I get nothing but mounts and hats for heroes I dun play.

Skype Resolver and players accidentally showing their IP while streaming seem to be the main ways.

I'm glad I gave this game a shot, it's so much better than league of legends (which I played for a few weeks but hated with a passion ,so tedious and so much snowballing)
The matchmaking makes me want to cry though, why did valve think this was ok?
Steam says I have 135 hours played but I doubt I have more than 40 hours actually spent playing , most of it is spent waiting for matchmaking , watching it cancel as someone doesn't click accept, waiting for 2 mins while one person crashes on load or watching people dc or ragequit within the first 10 mins:\
They should have called the game 'Wait'
Also getting branded a leaver when the game server crashes is not cool. (game will disconnect me, then trying to reconnect states the server can't be found, my inet connection doesn't go down at all, this has happened 4 times)
I've been picking 'random' each time to try out all the heroes so I've only been able to play each hero 1-5 times ish (some a few more times like axe)
I fail miserably at last hitting on most heroes (at least laning phase is shorter in dota)
Match id 173943849 if anyone wants to give some advice of what I need to do differently, general changes that would benifit me , maybe some lina or middle lane general advice.
(I'm called sneaky in the replay)
I warn you the laning phase will be painful to watch , but there are some really really funny teamplay moments between warlock and me from 32 mins till the end.

Nope. There are obviously heroes that are better than others in competitive play but you can play pretty much anything in pubs (as long as you're not playing the 5th carry in a team or something like that)

Then 2 months later it shows up in a comp game and it suddenly becomes FOTM.

I always try be helpful and give advice. Especially when i can see they're new to the hero. But theres no helping some people

Usually you try to reason with them, for example the Glaive and Aura maxing Lunas, but they sit there and tell you to just mind your own business, even though they are losing the game for you. They give you some like of bullshit like "It's going to help me outfarm Phantom Lancer!", when in reality it's doing barely anything for them and not capitalizing at all on Luna's strengths. Every time I see that skill build I refuse to believe they are not trolling and report them, because I honestly can't believe they are that stupid. That build just pisses me off that much.
I'll tell you what, I like to squeeze in a few co-op bot games sometimes (they're 30 minutes long and mindless fun) but when people do stupid shit or have no clue what they are doing I try to give them advice and help them.
I would say 70% of the time they start shit talking back to me or give me stupid reason for a build like Hylian's example.
I mean I'm not an expert (I've played about 900 games) but most of these guys have 5-15 games played in Dota2 and I would've loved some helpful advice at that point in my dota2 "career".
Most of the people rather like losing to bots and keep auto attacking the lane, run into a 5 man bot team on their own, etc, etc.
And that's only in bot games. Don't you dare mention that shit in normal games because people go apeshit when you are trying to help.

Moba communities are highly toxic it's just a fact. (league of legends was especially bad)
I try to play with a full group of friends as much as possible to not have to deal with it.
It's the whole concept of denying other people's intentions and the payoff (or lack thereof) for a tedious laning phase grind depending on your team (and yourself).
(why I prefer dota over LoL, at least the laning phase is about 6-7 minutes instead of 15 in LoL)
When I try to help someone with their build, they usually either deflect to kills (I play support no shit I'm not going to have alot of kills) or they just say 'hmm well that's your opinion' or 'stfu'.

Spirit Breaker might not see any pro play but he enjoys a lot of popularity in pubs. Poor SB nothin'. You want to talk about poor heroes talk about morph. Used to be picked in pro games but now no one wants him; he's like a leper.
honestly when ever i ask for something or tell someone something they can do, they generally either say OK, and then ignore me, or just ignore me, in rare cases i just get a :no , but never much aggressiveness

As someone that plays Luna heavily, this is beyond baffling. You would think even noobs that are spamming out single skills early on, would focus on the beam first. It does the most damage, and..you know, stuns the enemy.
I didn't even know that Luna had different mounts? Thought she didn't have anything at the moment (items/mounts etc.)
