Not open for further replies.
Single Draft game.

I've got a Lifestealer. Another guy has a Void. We talk during selection, he says I should take LS, so he takes Batrider. So far so good. All of this discussed thirty seconds before the end of picking.

Rest of team picks.

Skeleton King

Spectre

Chaos Knight

FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU JESUS CHRIST ITS A TEAM GAME LOOK AT THE REST OF THE PICKS

So yeah we lost that game

There's nothing better than seeing this a little while after some asshole ruins your game by feeding on purpose.

Someone gifted me a copy of DOTA 2 yesterday. I still have games left to finish in my PC backlog. Should I kiss them all goodbye now? :(

So, I only recently ventured outside of botstomp boot camp, and while I haven't been berated again, I'm stuck in this weird place where I'm getting matched with people that don't quite understand the game, and don't listen to/understand when I try to help them. I'm mildly competent so it feels like, until I get good enough to carry pairs of people going 0-17-0, I'm not going to win any matches and thus will be matched with them for the rest of my iLife.

Step 1: Pick good mid Snowballer like Night Stalker or Queen of Pain

OR

Step 1: Pick good Jungle Snowballer like Lycan or Furion. You'll have trouble if you get ganked, but trust me, you won't get ganked.

Step 2: Drag the rest of your team kicking and screaming to a victory.

Step 3: Repeat.

Remember one of the greatest faults of players in pub games is how incredibly passive they play. Take advantage of this and push them in, deny them farm, and all that rot.

You're still going to lose against those champions that manage to feed Huskar first blood with a QoP, but hey, that's the way it is.

Yes, but you will soon forget about them. And when the servers are down, there is enough time to finish 1 or 2 out of 200 games.

Pick Riki. Seriously.

I have a hard time beating bioshock infinite because of dota. DS2 will be the only competitor to dota 2 in the near future, unless destiny is crazy good.

It will consume your backlog.

So yeah we lost that game

-All Pick
-Randomed spectre
-Team-mates get jugg, broodmother and PL
-I say we need a support with a stun
-Last guy picks centaur warrunner
-Our lanes were shit on with our all melee, no ranged stun, 4 carry line-up

Yeah, after two miserable games this morning, Pepper, Fork and I had a 70 minute extravaganza of a match. It took us until 40 minutes to even knock down a Tier 1 tower, but we won, despite their Prophet porting all over the map to push and having enough gold to buy back twice in ten minutes.

I GUESS I DID NOTHING THAT GAME

http://dotabuff.com/matches/177523137

That match was insane. No matter what we did, NP pushed in hard. It seemed like he was going to take everything by himself, like a war of attrition. We were crushing them in fights, but we were so pushed in that it was ridiculous and we couldn't do anything. Not to mention it took the entire team to kill Bristle and NP. I had about 7k for buyback, and it was tempting to not buy literally anything I wanted (abyssal is good for Disruptor right?).

Is it horrible for a Viper to build a Vanguard? I pretty sure it's useless on him, but the guy who made it just kept bitching at me saying it was viable.

well to be honest, it is. you raze well you win (mid), unless it's vs ta, in that scenario just leave the lane.

I went mid against a good SF, and he was owning me with the Razes. I think he almost one shot me at level 2 with full razes

Vanguard is ok-ish on Viper, since he's actually a pretty good buffy hero. The 2k is just better one other items (Yasha for example).

For me its because you become an instant target for other lanes to come gank you. Playing shadowfiend is like telling the other team's jungler or gank support to go ahead and buy smoke, because he's a free kill.

Are you playing Axe/Clockwerk?

If no, dont fucking buy Vanguard.

Okay just making sure. It was the first item he was making. That's my biggest prob with pubs. Sometimes they can play fine, but people just buy the most useless things for certain heroes.

Yo, you bad-mouthing Drow??

I'm only a month and a half new to Dota 2. But I thought the Community saw Drow as a noob crutch, based on all the hate I got from people in my games after dominating them.

I was just being self-deprecating about my win streak though. Either way, 8 wins in a row was awesome.

yes he has no stun/escape mechanism so if they gank you you're pretty much dead, but he's not the only one.
you can get a kill if you raze well, especially if they dive. or you can still dominate mid even if you get ganked and you die.

I just noticed Necro is pretty high in the winrate list. Did people finally find out he's a swagging hero?

Pubs just don't understand his role and think he's a mere boots support. Then get fucked by aura and heals backed by bloodstone.

I have like 80% winrate with him and always get crap from my team because I don't ward or do pleb shit like that.

It used to be the standard build like 6 months ago, guy probably just hasn't kept up with everything.

This might be common practice, but when I play shadow fiend I put a circle around him at 450 units, which is the range of the middle raze. It makes it really easy to land at any distance.

Yeah he's really vulnerable early, but he can bounce back so hard. I still remember the gaf IH where archie and his pal nonstop sat me mid and I went like 0-7 SF in like the first 5 minutes. Spent another 5-7 minutes stacking and razing the hard/easy camp at the same time and bam, came out highest level and highest farm with the most kills.

Most fun hero in the game imo, just takes good game sense, positioning, and a little luck sometimes. The first two you only ever really develop when you play SF a lot and just get a feel for the hero. SF is definitely up there with Pudge as the symbolic "DOTA hero."

How exactly do you "put a circle" around him? I'm imagining some macguyver tape-on-your-monitor type deal.

I think there's a console command that lets you do this? Some people (admiralbulldog) use it for heroes like Lone druid to know the exact attack range of the bear and other abilities. I think it's a little sketchy, but w/e... it's doable through the client for now I guess.

"dota_range_display [range in units]" is the command.

The way I see it is that if it's accessible through the console and doesn't require sv_cheats then it's legit.
