On a more serious note, are there any Dota TV tournament watchers in this thread? I'm looking to collect some data regarding tournament drops and I'm hoping anyone with the following tickets could help: Atod 3, E2Max L33T Championship, GEST Dota 2 - April and May.

Dotabuff showed that they have access to the chatlog so why don't they just check it against a master list of offensive terms when someone is reported. This system could easily be automated.

Pretty sure the bans are based on volume/frequency rather than a case by case evaluation. Its a broken system.

It encourages people to be overly sensitive as well as allows people to rage at others for non-ban worthy offenses. And in the end, my teams will keep suffering because I cant communicate. Everyone else gets punished as well.

Honestly, i would rather just be put in low priority for 24 hours than this nonsense. Im still having fun, but i feel bad for the teams i play with.

that's interesting. So it's volume of reports vs. content? I guess that makes sense. Manual review would cost way too much labor.
 
man, that IH game of yesterday was something.
best one so far? Like 80-90 mins, tons of kills and pretty close until the end, not the usual one side stomp. Gaf-hall of fame confirmed.

Well, that seems to be the semi-general consensus. I guess no one knows 100% for sure though how it works.

I doubt they really have the time to go through each in every report. That is unrealistic. So having a system that is based on frequency/volume makes sense. My issue though is, everyone on a team (especially if they in a group) could all mass report one person for something that's not worthy of a ban. And that person now has 4 reports on them. So the account could get flagged.

Sigh, I'll stop complaining. Just going to serve out my ban. See ya guys in a week!

that sucks, I've never gotten communication banned. Was there something specific you did? Or was it that situation where a whole team reported you for nothing because they lost?

If that's the case im floored that me and my team hasnt gotten reported. I have one guy that trolls the ENTIRE game. Nothing racist or anything like that, but he definitely makes the other teams rage (thanks for sucking so bad, cry more, umadbro, etc)

I wouldn't be surprised in the least since there is a invite bot that people get 20 fake accounts and spam report people. I've heard that threat before in allchat, but now I'm starting to believe that there are people out there who would just make a list of all these people and multi-account reporting.

That sucks as you can potentially be muted just for solo queue'ing and getting matched with an asshole 4 stack as teammates.
 
If they tweak it and make you be able to use chat wheel and ping here and there (no spam of course, that's fucking annoying) and maybe reset the punishment tiers from what it is now to a reset every once in a while so you won't be banned for a week every subsequent time, it would be a lot better I think.

It's Portland, which means you get to visit one of the best cities in the country. I'll even toss on the incentive of unlimited free Voodoo Doughnuts. Ol' Dirty Bastard anyone?

Plus, PDXLAN was pretty much sold out before they even announced the tourney. I'd imagine a competent amateur team could make it to the final four pretty easily.

What's going on? Are people getting incorrectly reported for communication abuse and the system is quick to take action?
 
Got chat banned for stomping a 5 stack...... Didn't say 1 word to them but in chat they wrote have fun being chat banned and I didn't think they were serious until I got on today....


GOOD SYSTEM VALVE.


This seems worse then when CS:GO had their initial penalties rolled out...
 
I just played a game and couldn't type, said I was chat banned for abusive language or some shit but I haven't said anything that could be conceived as such... wtf Valve sort this bullshit out. They could at least check the chat log before issuing the bans. Not being able to communicate with your team in a team based game in just silly.

Yeah I don't know what happened to that 4 report limit. I think I'm up to 15 ban confirms.
