I'm actually surprised the Llama isn't legendary. They all look great, though. I gotta do a courier, man.

GAF dinosaur, Puppey puppy, bishoptl samuel l jackson in black snake moan

Right, I'm already aware of that. I'm wondering if there is a console command so I can bind it to a button so that I can easily toggle it.

dota_unit_multiple_selection [0=none]? haven't tried it you can peruse more

Any idea why my Dota completely locks up when my brother alt-tabs?

It doesn't happen to me at ally under my account; we're both using my pc, the only difference is that he just logs into his account.

Had a fun inhouse game on Invoker, more or less the first game I've tried with him against humans. Had a blast, hit some great Sunstrikes and whatnot (favourite was assassinating an invis hero after he was struck by an Arrow).

His is likely fullscreen, yours is Boarderless Window.

I'll have to check but I'm fairly certain mine is full screen as well. Normal we just toggled border less back to full screen and we tabbed out fine. But I'll check later when he's done.

Thanks though!

Opened up after the update - cosmetics don't work T.T

Locks up and crashes? Apparently, the Source engine doesn't handle alt-tab very well, according to the dev forums. I kept crashing when I was alt-tabing during loading screen a couple weeks ago too. I decided to install 64-bit because it might have been because of a memory problem and I haven't had problems ever since.

GDstudio and BTS are great choices for the qualifying streamers

Phew, I don't even know what the other casters are talking about unless I hear shuggi and feen script.

So... I'm like really planning to visit TI3 this august, despite it costing a TON to travel to USA for me. Any of you gaffers are going to do the same thing? It's a tad scary for me to think about being all alone first time aboard without a single person I know.

Yo, how is Slark balanced?

I just played my first real match with him and I just facerolled. It wasn't like they didn't try. idk. He's gonna be a problem when they let him in the Tourney pool.

So uh apparently slark can remove dust debuff.

sentry wards are way better to stop him fighting with his ult

But seriously, what kind of lane does slark even go into?

because dust

This. Dust is going to stop that regeneration from his ult, he has to nuke himself for 300 every time he uses Dark Pact unless he bought a Hood. Honestly I kind of think Bounty Hunter does his job better because he gets cash for everyone on kills.

Maybe I'm confused. If these points are wrong, please correct:

1.) Slark only nukes himself for 50% of Dark Pact's damage. So at the most, he's only taking 150dmg from it.

2.) Dark Pact purges dust, making it a horrible choice for dealing with Slark. Sent wards, gem, or nothing at all.

3.) He will just pounce away. The cooldown on both his Q and W are ridiculous.

4.) He'll just purge a BH's track. He's not a counter in any way.

I was about 100% sure that Boken was being facetious when he said "because dust" because the above was my understanding.

edit: according to the Wiki - "Dark Pact can purge debuffs such as Slardar's Amplify Damage, Dust of Appearance and Bounty Hunter's Track."

The quality of the setup of TI2 was really amateur. Small screen, casters begging for applause, no translators. I'm hoping for your sake they spend a little more on the production of the event.

It would be a great chance to meet the players, casters, Icefrog - and the aforementioned exclusive swag.

Well, TI3 is just a cause to finally get some use out of USA visa. I don't really see reason to visit states in sole sake of visiting it, and TI3 is the only event I can see myself being a part of (aside of E3).

Yeah, you're right, still 150 isn't a joke. I would buy a Hood on him (I think I've only played Slark once.) I didn't mean for Bounty to be a counter to him, I just mean as having a place on the team Bounty does Slark's job better. I think once you plop down sentries of have a gem his game is mostly done. You just stay as 2-5 and you can probably kill him just fine. He has to beat on someone once he pounces on them, which is the time you need to hit him. Chain stuns work too so he can't Dark Pact invididual stuns. Bottom line, Sentries keep his ult from being useful, make sure everyone is with someone that has some on them.

Whaaaat? It didn't seem that amateur to me watching it. I thought it was considered one of the best esports events...

Really? Seemed pretty damn good to me. Did you even go or are you basing this off of photos of the event?

Slark is "balanced" because against better players, his laning options kinda suck and his ult is completely nullified by a sentry ward.

He's pretty good for stomping pubs though, since dark pact, pounce and his ult are so good. He's just hella squishy so he really needs that ult.

oh well hell. I'll stay home.

word. although much of that is true of any invis hero. he does have an awfully nice escape. If he gets a nice start and gets that skadi or some such up, he's a problem.

Yeah Slark is a snowball carry/semi-carry hero. If he gets fed early or even just has a decent time he'll end up stomping. Without a good start and early items, he just sort of falls off and doesn't do shit past mid-game. With a good laning partner to help get kills and perhaps even first blood, he's definitely scary. Would be good with anyone with a slow/stun, even long cast stuns. Leshrac, Veno, Lina, etc.

gotcha.

Well the GAF stack games didn't work out tonight, but I did have an interesting 50+ minute slugfest later tonight with over 100 kills. Aghs on Pugna too good. It was close because this Naix on the other team got super fat somehow and was (should have) outcarried our Clinkz.

Ward vs. Skywrath Mage was really nice. Didn't get the best opportunities to use it though since the fights were more impromptu than designated battlegrounds where I could place it well.

Slark is absurdly underrated. Dark Pact is no joke early game. He's like a highly mobile Naix that eats your stats instead of your life. He's not squishy, either.

I've been to Korean Starcraft so to me it looks amateur simply because they don't have years and years of experience casting/producing/interviewing. If you have ever heard ten thousand people gasp in silence at the same time then cheer their lungs out the next it is on par with NBA playoff games.

I'm sure the price/entertainment value is excellent compared to say a baseball game or something - you are getting 10-20 of the best matches in the world for ~$50.

No, I didn't go, but can you watch DOTA on an elevated movie screen for 10-15 hours? I imagine it to be sitting near the front row of IMAX and looking up the whole time. The auditorium was designed for the optimal viewing angle towards the stage - not up at the rafters.

I can barely watch 2 movies without getting bored or a sore butt. That doesn't look comfortable. I'm not saying you have to watch every match but it may be something to consider. Also you have the casters broadcasting live over the speaker system. That may be fucking annoying if you don't like the casters.

Played Meepo for the first time tonight. I know he's hard to use, and most noobs suck with him. But I did it for fun, and really stomped with him.

Had no idea what I was doing though. LOL People on the other team were raging hard.

Man all of this International 3 news has me worried that 6.78 will actually be delayed until after the tourney. Ugh, that would be the worst. Meta has gotten so stale, it would be a tragedy if TI3 was still magnus, nyx, bat, gyro, wisp, n'aix drawn out for another 3 months. The playstyle/picks have been pretty static since, arguably, late November/early December with a few exceptions here and there.

Edit: Looks like a few people have shot him emails and he's confirmed that 6.78 and even a 6.78b will hit before TI3.

The meta is mostly stale in European Dota. Chinese and SEA Dota have more varied picks. Except for Magnus, Nyx, Bat and KotL because those heroes are just too strong.

Eh I'd argue that Euro dota is just more frequently watched and more active in general, and so feels more stale. Sub out Gyro/Wisp + str carry for Shadowfiend or Morphling and you have the Chinese meta. The core heroes remain the same: Bat, nyx, mag, KOTL, N'aix, LD, clock, ds, etc... Sure it's as exciting and diverse as dota has ever been, but still, it's been the same core with a couple fotm swaps here and there for the past 6 months. It's about time for a change.

The "confirmed" emails/responses could be fake or made up though, we'll see.

Slark isn't really all that balanced, because even if he doesn't accomplish anything in lane (and it's easy to get kills if you can land pounce) he just fucks off to the jungle where he can farm neutrals forever without needing any resupply. I've played against Slarks that I've beaten in lane, only to see them arrive later with crazy levels.

Even if he can't get a kill, if he can draw aggro in a team fight before pouncing away at the end to heal, he's accomplished his goal.

His level one pounce tether is usually enough to kill anyone in lane early.

Sentries and gem are definitely the solution to dealing with him, but his pounce gives him so much mobility, that he shouldn't die even if you have those.

His only downside is he doesn't really have any great tools for damage output (for taking out anything not squishy) past his nuke. But if you never die, and keep farming you can just buy that stuff.
