Dragon Age: Inquisition has gone gold

Now we are almost at release, the game has gone gold and we are moving into mass production, I wonder when the remainder of the Deluxe edition will be announced.

Most retailers still have Bonus Digital content to be announced.
It's just a multiplayer chest. Mike Laidlaw said that the team is exhausted and there's no plan for a single player dlc en the short term.

DAO and ME1 (less so ME2) had proper PC options and keymapping. They took their time developing this game for all platforms themselves so I will be surprised if it didn't include proper PC options.

Hence "recent". After Mass 2, 3 and DA2, I have very little faith in Bioware taking advantage of a keyboard. Mass Effect 2/3 were especially bad - space bar did absolutely everything.

Has anyone heard an estimate for campaign length? An average playthrough, I mean. I know developers tend to bloat their estimates, but I'd like to try to find an indicator at least.

I think I'm actually gonna bite for $60, but is it worth that for the PS3 version? Have they released any media of the less powerful versions?

If I'm not mistaken it was something massive like 60-80 hours, but I got so sauce

Its a Bioware game expect a minimum 15-20 hour experience if you are rushing through stuff and possibly a 30-35 hour one if you take your time. Whether the lengthy experience is of good quality is the only question.

Edit: thats per character playthrough. I even managed to clock in 3 , 35 hour runs in Mass Effect 3.

I think they did give an estimation, but I don't remember exactly. Anyway, I'd say that a normal playthrough (without rushing) might be around 40 hours or something like that, but since the game seems packed with content you will end up with a 50+ hour campaign even if you don't do everything.

This is pretty much an assumption based on BioWare games in general though, since this seems to be big, who knows how much time doing it all might take.

Based on casual comments on twitter made by different developers like Patrick Weekes, a normal playthrough with some exploration but not that much, should last like 80 hours.

If you only do the main campaign and nothing more, like 30-40 hours.

The maximum length is going to be really pretty huge, I think.

But that's because they've bulked out the game with what seems like lots of what I'd consider rather low quality MMO style quests, that'll only really be worth doing if the combat is considerably more fun than it was in the previous games.

Jesus....

80 hours? This game will last me more than 2 months by the rate I am playing games these days.

Yes to both questions. Once you select the answers on the Keep, it will generate a World save that can be exported to Inquisition. Unfortunately -other than the intro-, the Keep does not provide much background on each choice. So, take a look at Yeul's compilation:

Finally, you can always ask someone here to share with you their World save. Most will have a 100% "good" state.

Thanks a million! I'll be reading this to catch up on Lore basics. About sharing a World Save... I'd appreciate that actually! Not sure what the mechanics for sharing would be though. On another note, when is the review embargo?

just went to the keep. great that it knows your choices even if you did not finish the game..

but decided to start a new world and chose how I felt. without any guide. Looking forward to use it and see how it is implemented.

Me too. I loved the first one but I am still a bit sceptical about Inquistion after DA2, but my interest is going up again so far this seems way better then DA2. I really like the setting and general story idea this time.I am also very happy about the possibilty to play the combat more tactical, especially on PC (1080p@60fps makes the game look very nice for a rpg) .

If the reviews on Websites/Magazines (I trust) are positive,if they fixed the 'corridor like level design' and there is an option to unlock framerate on PC this is going to be a first week buy for me.

My second November buy is going to be GTA V on PS4... and that's it :).

Oh yeah it does seem to be way better but I#d rather have confirmation. DA:O wasn't even close to Baldur's Gate but it was close enough for me to be lots of fun. Da2 on the other hand...

Your DA:O character doesn't make a physical appearance in the game, so I doubt it.

And my main character died anyway so whatever. lol

It's Frostbite on last gen, I would not expect wonders.

This game is nothing like Oblivion, Skyrim and Fallout.

The lore is better. The mechanics are better.

You can start parties or (friendships) with others and the way you play also alters their outcome. Followers who you love and love you can change their views by the things you do in the game.

The decisions you make can make them hate or love you even more. They might even turn your back on you because your views does not compliment his or hers.

There are also multiple ways to finish this game with different endings. Some quests can become locked if you choose a different path, thus making it rewardable to play through this game twice or more times.

The combat mechanics are kind of a mix between KOTOR and Mass Effect. There is no ''dice'' mechanic but each combat scenario is never the same, with some enemies being invulnerable to certain magical enhancements (resistance against ice, fire etc.).

You also need to compliment your party's strength with each other. Having two rogue's and 1 warrior will never get you far if you refuse to use a mage. You can make the party warrior member become a tank, so it will rally all the enemies on him.

You can make the mage use supportive or attack spells. You can use the rogue to poison certain enemies, go invisible and even backstab them.

I am probably missing a ton of other info but this game seems to be the RPG we have been craving for since the lackluster DA2.

I have no idea if this game is open world or features a hub-style gameplay, with each hub being quite remarkable in size.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot. There are a ton of dragons you need to slay with each of them having different unique attacking abilities. You need to grind them down, attack their legs so they fall down. Basically immobilize them.

Not to derail a thread or disagree with you on all fronts, but saying the lore in DA is better than ES may be the most far off opinion i have seen on the gaming side of GAF.

I find the personalities and historical events lore from the Elder Scrolls universe to be the better of the two, but conversely think that the underlying world-building lore for Dragon Age such as Blood Magic, the Fade, the position of Elves and Mages in society etc. to be much more interesting.

This is the frostbite engine. There are no frame rate locks. If you've got the hardware and the display you can run the game at 144 FPS.

Wait is this confirmed?

The save is NOT being imported. All that counts is your Keep settings. So there's no way they'd be able to import your character, not to mention that he would probably look completley out of place since was design in an entirely different engine.

For the people who haven't seen it, this is how Hawke looks in Inquisition:

Hobo Hawke.

Hobo Hawke.

he looks a lot different than his concept art. Might just be the picture, but he looks like a southerner from the early 1900's

EDIT: Whoops, thought that was Dorian

Question about the deluxe edition. I'm sure I already know the answer, but, can the items be obtained in the game somewhere? And is the armor going to be so powerful you can just wear it the entire game?

If i'm not mistaken the Flaming armor thing is a preorder bonus for all versions of DA. That's why i'm rethinking of just preordering the regular version now. I don't care about mounts or a throne and i'd prefer to have the soundtrack through itunes or amazon for easier downloads. I'm not sure what the "bonus" unannounced stuff is though which is making me hesitate. It's probably something silly but if it was an extra character or quest ala Black Prince from DA 2 then i would probably kick myself.

I'm torn between this and GTA V. This looks great bit DA2 puts me off and GTA V I can't justify spending full price for a game I already beat on last gen.

I'm really hoping this will live up to the expectations.

DA was an amazing game and I would hate see this one go down the same path as DA2

Still trying to figure out whether to get this or GTA V. Ate there any really lengthy videos that go into great detail about DAI? I feel like I've seen most of the live streams and I want more.

The livestreams are pretty lengthy...on top of all of the videos on their YouTube channel. How much more do you want :P?

Honestly GTAV was great but this game looks like it'll have way more content. If you haven't played either though, definitely eventually play GTAV.

The PS4 version (the footage I've seen), looks night and day better than DA:O on PS3. Looks so smooth, the view distance is massive and its running at 1080p?

Do you mean DA 2 or did Origins come to PS 3?

That said DA: I is 1080p on PS 4, I would assume 30 FPS. On X1 game will be 900p.

I should have added "imo" in that sentence.

And the most far off opinion you have seen? You must not be familiar with GAF then.
