Dragon Age: Inquisition has gone gold

Oh dear me. I have a 7850. Should I be like Tim Taylor and get more power?

Just for this game?

No. Unless you "have" to play on the highest settings (PC gamer's disease).

If you're expecting to play lots of other upcoming PC games which may be equally demanding or more demanding, then yes.

Well, I don't need it for this game, but going forward, it might be nice. Considering the new games will need higher power, such as Unity.

Really interested to see how the game will fare on the old gen consoles. Hope it will be at least decent, I'd really like to wait for Bloodborne before buying a PS4...but if the game is really good and the old gen port is really shitty I might have to buy one sooner rather than later.

In that case, sure. You can get good deals on the R9 290/ 290X right now in most places. If you want to try team green, the GTX 970 is the current recommended card. Slightly less powerful for the same money, but there are associated benefits (much lower power draw for example).

Hepler also wrote Orzammar, though, which was pretty much the best quest in Origins in terms of, well, being interesting. I think it'd be bad form to knock her simply because you disliked Anders.

That said, she wrote some of Cassandra as well as three major plotlines in DA:I before leaving anyway, so it isn;t like she wasn't involved. Gaider took over Cass when she left, before that I think he was only writing Dorian.

I never liked Orzammar much except the dark murder stuff with Branka et al.... and Anders in DA2 was really that bad, I think i was a fair enough call.

In other news, how good does that new trailer look right!
Less spoilery than I expected thank the maker... my hype fade is in overdrive.

Have they said if any characters from previous games will have cameo roles, or give out quests? Sure would like to meet some of them again.

Dragon Age Inquisition embargo is Nov 11, a week before release. I remember not getting a *review copy* of DA2 until the day it came out!

Bioware ain't mucking around lol.

Bioware bringing their A-game.

For DA:I and ME4 it seems like they were given carte blanche to take as much time as they needed. I'm confident both will be very good games, particularly in comparison to the shortened dev cycles on their last two before that. DA2 was extremely undercooked; ME3 was polished (they delayed the game), but unambitious by design. Both games were built with short cycles in mind.

They are confident this time, plus haven't they been working on the game for like 4/5 years? DA2 only had a year, if that, to release.

Good to know! I'll wait for the reviews to see if I'm gonna pre-order then.

This is some big balls maneuvering, they must be extremely confident.

This gives me tingles like no other news.... hold me GAF.

Glad to see that EA/Bioware are confident on this one. Makes me much more hyped.

On the money good sir.

I never understand the ME3=short dev time argument. There was about the same game between ME2 and 3 as there was from ME1 to ME2 and ME2 had a much more significant overhaul in terms of engine, graphics, gameplay, etc.

I keep my prediction: Metacritic: 93, but I'm getting the feeling that it could be even higher than that, I mean, Skyrim has a 96.

ME1: Nov 2007
ME2: Jan 2010 (~26 months)
ME3: Mar 2012 (~22 months)

ME3 was delayed by 3-4 months. Had it released on schedule, it would have been about 19 months between ME2 and ME3. Even though it got the extra time in the end, it does feel pretty reflective of that anticipated short cycle. They used it for polish, not to change design decisions or add substantial extra content. Most things would have been set in stone before the delay happened.

They had to build an engine for ME2 though. Not the case for ME3.

Think I've decided to play this and put warlords of Draenor on hold until I actually want to play it, which I don't at all right now 1 week before its out.

I need to get out of my "I need to play wow xpacs at launch no matter what" mentality because I'm just forcing myself to do it which isn't good for warlords, or dragon age which is what Im cruelly hyped for

Which Engine ? They used UE3 for all Mass Effect Games

The combat, menu, inventory and many other systems were essentially unchanged from ME2 to ME3. (yes, engine isn't the best word but it's hard to encompass all those gameplay and GUI systems in a single word).

I'm going with an 88: scores have become somewhat more realistic than in 2011 IMO, with 80s being the new 90 and such.. if it gets 93 however, I will:

1) Tip my hat to you sir.

2) Explode as the game will still not be released, and my internals could not handle the hype.

I think I'm going to stop going to the Bioware forum. It's starting to get to the point where their insanity is showing.

I mean I saw a 17 page thread because of one bad critic review on a four hour demo.

Looks like a rip to me. Its $10 for just a set of junk equipment (or maybe its not junk since they will have schematics to keep them relevant, but its still just a few items out of thousands, so who cares?), an uncomfortable chair, and two extra mounts over the base 30. I think its an easy choice, just ask yourself if that small ammount of content is worth 16% of the full game's price. (The answer I found was a quick and easy no)

Thanks, I'm thinking ill skip the deluxe too

I would argue that ME 3's original endings are telltale mark of short, active, production time with very little time for iterations.

Its based on the fact that the end of the game is clearly rushed, it ruins pretty the entire trilogy given how bad it is and it doesn't even fir with the rest of the game (you spend the entire game collecting war assets and making alliances and doesn't pay off at all, you neither see them in action nor see any consequences for the things you chose, all is extremely simplified.

What makes it more baffling was that they had a great template on how to do a final mission in ME2 ending. It was a matter of scaling it up and including the war assets in the choices.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean.

Both ME3 and DA2 had Bioware streamlining things in the hopes of making the game more appealing to the mass market and garnering more sales. However DA2 clearly had an insanely abbreviated development time and the result is a game that I doubt anyone at Bioware would say executed on their vision for the title.

With ME3 they had the time and resources to execute their vision and I seriously doubt 4-6 months of additional dev time would have changed anything of significance. The game is very much what Bioware intended it just seems evident they didn't have as good of read on the market and their customer base as they thought.

It was poor planning not lack of dev time- Hudson and Walters clearly didn't have a good idea of what the finale should be so they put it off as late as possible.

With ME2 it seems like the "Suicide Mission" was probably one of the first things they settled on so the rest of the game was built around it.

ME2-ME3= 26 months, not 22 months (Same as ME2).

*shrug* It'll be on youtube in no time.

  • Good music quality
  • uTube

Pick one. You can listen music through uTube for sure, but even your regular .mp3 on HDD beats that stuff in quality any day.

Just listen to DAI theme first on uTube and then on SoundCloud. Difference in quality should be noticeable, and even more so if and when downloadable version is good bitrate.

VideogamerTV's preview is amazing.

...and by amazing, I mean a whiny bitch fest about how it's not "exactly like Origins, therefore probably won't be any good".

After playing a 60 hour run through of Origins over the last couple weeks (my 8th I think..), I can clearly say I don't want Origins again, and I'm looking forward to all these changes, especially the way health is dealt with and the combat changes.

I love Origins, but some people come at stuff with nostalgic-rose tinted visors too often.

I instantly question the fertility of anyone that liked The Fade or The Deep Roads.

The only reason I love the Deep Roads is the enemy population. Deep Roads in both games had a lot of enemies. I love killing things.

Hahahaha... that was the first mod I wacked into my last playthrough, Skip the Fade is mandatory for any playthrough (along with Dog Whistle and S3 Ravage).

I would use Skip the Deep Roads too, but I think it's in development hell... now that I think of it, I kind of don't like at least half of my favourite RPG.... fuck :P

The soundtrack in the deluxe edition is digital. MP3s. So youtube quality regardless. So I still *shrug*

I'm not trying to tell anyone not to buy it if they want it, just giving my two cents on why I've chosen not to.

You should have your hearing checked if you think uTube quality is equal to MP3s :S
