I'm actually impressed by the close-ups.

The appearance customization is fairly robust without really going into shrek territory. And I really dig what they do here with the portrait generated for your character; it has a 2d painted look to it.

Why not? It's a great way to get people excited. Make your character before the game comes out. Experiment with the look and classes until you get it just right. Then once you get the game just jump in and play.

Create hype.

Also, you can make your character ahead of time so you're ready to jump into the game when it's in your hot little hands.

You can spend 5 hours deciding on your character's eyebrows now, save your character and then jump right in when the game comes out. And it's a nice peak at the skill and spell lists.

Graphics look nice, lip sync too

Character customization is nil. Very disappointing :( You get to choose precisely 0 skills and talents, unless I missed something.

I think it makes perfect sense. When I start playing an RPG with extensive character creation options it can take me up to 2 hours to actually get into the game.

So it does go as far as choosing your initial attributes, skills and talents? Excellent.

You choose your attributes but you get your skills/talents based on your race/background. Pretty dumb but not like you got to pick much in D&D either.

But the point of creating a new IP was to make things bigger and better without restrictions like those they had with the d&d license.
I won't hide that I was really excited when they announced the game, but I am now very skeptical about how it turned out. A good adventure game no doubt. A good rpg, we'll see.

wtf @ download speed from bioware. :(

Default brightness seems way too low btw, suggest turning it up a few notches in the game options, especially if you take screens.

Not home right now so I can't just check myself, but for those who know graphics cards, how does the ATI Radeon HD2600 compare to what's posted? It's what came in the first aluminum iMac's back in '07 I believe. If no one knows, guess I'll find out in a few hours.

Great idea on Bioware's part to release this.
Agreed. I tend to spend FAR too long making a character when I first get the game. Now when I get Dragon Age, I can actually play it. :lol

Do we know if we can change appearance mid-game? Like hair/beard and stuff?
