Dragon Ball FighterZ Switch absence isn't due to tech, open to port if fan interest

DBZ is my childhood, and a Switch would be my only way to play this.

Already tweeted about this like 5 times and posted in different spots. If this happened I would buy it in an instant, and practice this game for all it's worth.

This is so silly. After 3rd-parties been through every excuse in the book - as to why their games won't come - and Nintendo now has a hit console on their hands, the best many of these devs can do is the old "show interest first, and we'll port x/y/z game." Just port the fu**ing game already!

What the hell ever happened to the age-old concept of gamers being attracted to awesome looking/playing games? Apparently, Nintendo platform owners are exempt from that notion.

What happens in these cases are late ports when all the hype has died down, with no additional marketing, and the conclusion of;"You see, Nintendo gamers don't support our games!"

If it's not a hardware concern, then stuff like this is a no-brainer, especially on a damn hybrid console! Come on man.

As long as it isn't crossplay that's fine. Fighting games in general suffer from people not wiring in. The wi fi net code to this would probably be butt cheeks.

I refer you to #BuildingtheList and Bandai Namco's response to western Vita players asking for Cyber Sleuth. This isn't something that happens only to Nintendo gamers, sometimes you gotta ask for your niche shit to get ported rather than assuming that'll it come anyways.

I don't own a Switch yet, but if y'all want something and Bandai Namco is the publisher, ask enough and you'll get it. If we can get Digimon games localized three years in a row, you can get a DBZ game on the Switch no problem.
Bamco does have a hand in a lot of fighters on Switch (Pokken DX, Xenoverse 2, the almost certain Smash Switch) not counting DBFZ or even a belated T7 port (Tag 2 flopped on the Wii U but that's partially the system)

I hope it comes over. I have a Switch and PS4 and personally I would choose to play it on PS4, but even so it would be amazing for fans to get a portable version.

I'd be down for a Switch port. Seeing as it's apparently 1080p/60fps on XB1 (& running on UE4), maybe the Switch could do DBFZ at 900p/60fps docked.
I'd expect something closer to 540p on the switch if the xb1 is at 1080p, if they want to maintain the frame rate. Or maybe 720p with reduced quality.

GGXrd runs at 720p/60fps on PS3. Worse hardware, worse engine.
No reason it'd be lower than that. It looks great mainly thanks to great art and neat tricks.

Yep, this kind of thing hasn't been happening with PC ports for years they really do just have it out for Nintendo

Didn't remember which game this was. In my mind I was thinking of something like xenoverse.

What do you mean by worse engine though? Maybe this isn't doing anything more than guilty gear on ps3, but system requirements usually go up with newer engines.

GGXrd is on UE3, DBF on UE4.
You can see from all the videos that they are using the same dev tricks, but this engine should allow them to both optimize it further all while using more tricks for the same amount of resources at worst.

Edit: Xenoverse 2 is at 720p on Switch too btw, and UE4 as well from what I remember.

Xenoverse 2 is not UE4.

Man, I would be so torn about a Switch port of this game. On one hand, it looks so clean and crisp at high res that I want to get it on PC. On the other, handheld mode makes every game better.

I'd probably just double dip if it's as good as it looks to be.

I could see this running at 720p on Switch. GGXrd run alright on PS3 on using UE3 at 720p so this game that uses basically all the same techniques and stuff should also be ok right?

Would be great to have this portable.

That's not necessarily true. UE4 is definitely a heavier engine than UE3 (except maybe the mobile rendering paths, not sure about those). Maybe this game is cutting back on the features that contribute to that. But just because it's newer doesn't mean it'll run faster on the same hardware.

Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
PS3 could handle Guilty Gear.

My guess is that they don't see any overlap in fanbase, which is why people have to actually come out to prove they are interested and would buy such a port over PS4/XB1/PC

Would be awesome, also have crossplay with X1 and PC.
And have segmented PS4 servers? Its like usual XB1 ports in reverse

But 2D DBZ has literally always been a thing on Nintendo handhelds :0

Its not about whether DBZ has been on previous handheld, but whether or not there is enough of a base for Switch outside of those buying on PS4/XB1/PC

2 million units is not a "hit console" yet, the sales rate simply paints a positive forecast for the system if it continues in this manner. For third parties wary of Nintendo systems and the perceived limited sales potential that they represent to any games not published by Nintendo, it makes far more financial sense to wait until the Switch has a much larger install base before putting high cost projects on it. People need to stop acting like the Switch has outsold the PS4 or something. It's still very much in early days and nobody knows if it will actually sell to the mainstream market once it's done selling to the 8-10 million Nintendo fans who buy anything the company puts out automatically.

Considering the game is a 2018 release and the Switch is on fire, it seems like a no-brainer to get this on there and striking while the iron is hot.

Or maybe they just don't want to steal Xenoverse 2's thunder.

I'd double dip on the Switch if they ported it. It could even habe cross play and make me chose the pc/xbox version. I am loving everything about this game. I wish thw vs series looked like this.

Walruses, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers and badgers.
This statement makes me think that DBFZ is already in development for Switch, but they just don't want to cannibalize XV2's sales with an official announcement.

It's funny to me some people think this game is a technical giant. It's the guilty gear engine with dragon ball characters. Cel shading was impressive when jet grind radio did it.
