Do we know for sure Buu failed the test in the anime? We know he fell asleep instead of outright failing this time. Maybe he finished the test with 50%+?

Buu would be a perfect trump card - it took a gigantic Spirit Bomb just to get rid of Kid Buu, who was stronger but shared a lot of abilities with Majin Buu.

Basically I want to see Buu fight because he's a fast, stretchy, strong and pink Botamo.

I thought it was pretty clear he was disqualified.

It's not likely since Buu not joining the tournament seems to be in Toriyama's outline. The anime and manga can't differ that much.

I was originally thinking Frost would beat Piccolo, but after seeing how Final Form Frost stacked up to SSJ Goku and then seeing the NEP I think Piccolo will beat Frost.
I pretty much agree with this list, but I think we'll get Goku VS Hit some how before the arc is over.
Hit seems to be a character that will be important even after the tournament is over. Cabba and Frost too.

Nah that was all Frost. Did you see the look of disgust on his face after Goku fell?

If you're talking about Vegeta's face, that may be that he doesn't know yet. There's no interest, plot wise, that Beerus' team win. The way the whole thing is set up, there's no interest in Goku/Piccolo/Vegeta's victory. Either Monaka is some really powerful guy, or Beerus was just trying to make a strawman with Monaka.

Nah it's pretty clear Frost hit him with some sort of poison.

Well, Jaco's reaction seems to hint at that. But the whole thing is a bit... blurry for now as far as I'm concerned. It's either Frost's technique, or Goku pretending to run out of stamina, hence why Frost seemed so happy when he felt Goku dropped his strength when blocking the hit.

It's not Goku faking. You can see a flash of light and a slit on the top of Frost's wrist where the toxin came out.

However, I feel like Frost cheated, and should be disqualified for it... But then again, what fun would that be?

If Goku had done it on purpose, we wouldn't have got a first-person view of his vision getting blurry.

EDIT: And it's not cheating either, wut! It's the same as if Goku had used Solar Flare, it's just a technique.

Good point ! Eh, too bad, I guess that's me hoping :p
Then I guess Piccolo and Vegeta both might lose to that kind of abilities. Or Vegeta might be the winner... and then Beerus will reveal Monaka isn't a fighter at all hahahaa

I mean, you can hear a special sound effect after Goku gets hit by the final punch, and at the exact same time, Jaco notices it and you see a close up of Frost SMILING ALL OF A SUDDEN.

I don't see how people can doubt what happened, let me sum up the dialog :

Frost : Impossible... I didn't think he would be that much stronger....
Goku: You seem like a nice guy, I don't wanna hurt you. You should give up now.
Frost : That's a nice offer, but sadly, I have to keep fighting, I promised to the children I would win for them...I don't have the choice...

* attacks goku with the last attack *

Basically Frost is a great guy but he is willing to sacrifice his honor to win for "the greater good".

It's similar to when Goku decided to become Super Saiyan God in the BOG movie.

Goku in the preview says :

"I don't know what kind of technique hit me... But I'm out !!!" so it's not a weapon.

If this toxin or whatever is a part of Frost's biology, then it's not cheating. Dirty and unfair? Possibly, since even Frost didn't like having to do it, but not outright cheating.

Good guy Frost.

Yep. This was the temperament I was hoping for since Piccolo said he felt no ill will from him. Just a great reversal from Frieza. I'm starting to agree with people saying Universe 7 is the evil twin lol.

Good guy Frost.

I was actually disappointed he didn't have a more unique voice actor. I had a feeling it'd be the same as Freeza's but I wanted to be wrong.

Yeah, that was really disappointing, but expected. I mean, even Kura has the same voice actor as Frieza in Japanese. The actor just uses a slightly deeper voice. In the French dub however, Kura has a different voice actor, one with a naturally deeper voice. I wish they would have done something along those lines for Frost.

I could agree with this. Piccolo has always been shown to be a very smart fighter. I'm sure he noticed what happened to Goku.

I wonder does Uni 6 have a Kid Buu variant? I'm most interested in that.

Maybe not.

Buu was revealed to get stronger and stronger by absorbing hatred and evil.

But U6 seems to be a reversed U7. While evil does exists there, it doesn't seem to be as widespread. I mean, saiyans and freezer are on the good side, that pretty much stops 90% of crime right there.

Whichever Buu they might have had, would probably be pathetic and weak.

Don't forget that humans were apparently evil or misguided enough to destroy their planet.

I think there is or was a Buu variant in their universe, otherwise they wouldn't have only one Kaioshin (the second one was confirmed to be his attendant).

He failed the test because he fell asleep. If he had answered enough questions he wouldn't have been disqualified for sleeping. Toriyama's outline probably just said that he didn't pass, which is why the manga and anime had different takes on it.

I'm starting to think piccolo may not only beat frost, but get 2 or even 3 wins total. I could see Hit cleaning house after that. I hope vegeta gets at least one win, but he almost certainly has to lose so monaka gets a turn.

I don't see a rep coming in for the last spot. It's evident u7 outclasses u6 for the most part so they needed a handicap so the earth fighters could get a win without winning the overall tourney.

I'm not disappointed cabba doesn't know of any transformations. Does the SSG ritual require SS? If not, it seems like it would be easy for u6 to find enough pure hearted sayains to make SSGs all day. All they need is the knowledge of the ritual if it doesn't require the participants to be SS.

Piccolo is probably going to be like 'Namekians are immune to all poisons, sorry bro.' Then special beam cannon his ass.
I expect either this to happen or Piccolo realizing he needs to stay away from him and focus on ki blasts. He seems to be charging his Special Beam Cannon in the preview.

Maybe a variant the gets stronger by a different means could work. Just like how different the Saiyans are in U6.

Piccolo's fighting techniques was shown in the preview way too much. Meaning he is losing it, just like the scrub that he is.

No more copies of powerful beings in u6, if they do have a buu equivalent make him completely different with different abilities. Don't just introduce a blue buu or a female buu.

I term of booking, wrestling wise.. this is taking a strange turn. Make the strongest guy lose, but to a weak guy... That's not how you make your tournament hyped!

Considering how fast it's going, it's clear now that the arc won't really focus on the tournament.

I'm seeing a new sub group: Pafu. Are they any good? Or just another trashy speedsub?

(Also are we technically allowed to talk about various sub groups in here? I know we do sometimes, but no one ever links it so it seems okay??)

Frost is a dirty fighter. He definitely poisoned Goku.

He didn't do it for the sake of winning, he did it so that champa would be forced to honor his word and save the kids. What he did was dirty, but he isn't a dirty fighter, per say.

Also, how fun would it be if Piccolo just killed Frost and got eliminated ?

Savage. It could really set up U7 as the evil doers if they get sent into U6.

I can't believe how much that manga chapter spoiled me in all aspects. I need to never read that again if I want to just enjoy Super for what it is...

I avoid it by not caring about spoilers ever. Like I read this thread before the good subs come out and before I watch the episode, never impacts my enjoyment of the episode when I do watch it

I'm not referring to that, I mean it spoiled me in terms of giving the fights way better choreography/intensity and for some reason I expected the anime to be on par.

probably not
never again

Yeah, this.

Speaking of which, just finished watching. The next ep preview has me excited, should be great to see Piccolo in battle again.

It's not like he used a weapon. As far as we know it seems like either a technique or a natural part of his body. In other shounen fighting series it wouldn't even be a very odd power, the main issue is that this is Dragonball where direct attacks became the only thing used by heroes and even most villains.
