Episode was a little too slow, but still had some great stuff.

Vegeta's totally just going to be an ass to push Cabba.
Love these NEP shots.
Get hype. So glad I don't have to hear anymore of people saying they think Blue is gone.

omg this is making me cry

also isn't champa gonna punish them if they lose?

fuck vegeta forever

this is the worst

It's a DB Tournament. There's almost no way it gets to the end without some ulterior stuff popping up and rendering the outcome of the tournament effectively nothing.

Hit grabbing the shard of the barrier with his fingers right in front of his face without opening his eyes was cool.
As much as I am excited for next week's episode I can't wait to see Hit get into the ring!

that was pretty dope, hit seems cool. i hope they make a sh figuarts figure of him.

can we put magazine scans for action figures? they aren't show spoilers. just new dbz figures.

i just dont like SSB they should have keep it as red

I love Blue, but it woulda been kinda cool if for SSGSS Goku's design was the same as it is now (maybe with a different outfit or coloring) but his Super Saiyan hair was red and Vegeta got blue.

No scans, period. That's a GAF rule, it has nothing to do with spoilers.

I want a Master Stars Piece Hit really bad. I'm surprised we haven't had any figures for the new characters yet.

yeah, something to differentiate them would have been nice! after i watched the movie i thought it would just simply be cooler if Goku was blue and Vegeta red (or both red) instead of just pulling that "transformation" out of nowhere.

Has this show made any references to the Android/Cell saga? Seems like this show is building it's backstory with the Freeza saga and bits of the Buu saga.
I have a feeling it's coming. Future Trunks' timeline is going to be discussed with all the multiverse talk going on, OR Android 17 is going to show up again, OR timeskip happens and Trunks
hopefully gets a sword and
becomes like a cockier, less serious but more capable version of his original timeline self.

Holy shiit, this episode was so good. They acknowledged why Goku and Vegeta aren't going all out which was my main problem with this tournament so far. Next episode with Cabba is going to be hype.

Super happy to see Goku making some tactical observations and not being written like a complete dufus for once. The guy knows his fighting, okay?

I love the choice to make this fight take place within a more strict enclosure. It meant that they could add a HEAP of tension without spending too much money on intensive fight choreography (although the general art quality does tend to look a bit more consistent lately). It's awesome to see them spending their budget more wisely and coming up with creative ways to work around the show's limitations. Watching Vegeta trying desperately to stop his momentum before he crashed into the boundary was great. On an unrelated note, the Final Flash lightning ricoheting across the ring while he was charging it looked freaking awesome.

Overall I concur with the sentiment that this episode was a bit too slow but I really feel like this show is finally getting good - and it only took like 50 million episodes to get there. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm pretty optimistic about future episodes of Dragon Ball Super.

Poor Magetta... :'(

I felt bad for Magetta. I was really digging this fight with his abilities. Hope we see more of him since he's the most original Dragonball character we've seen since...........idk, OG Dragonball?

I guess I'mma need to watch the new episode

Wha? The Blu-Ray sets look nothing like the Orange Brick releases.

*owns both*

Pretty sure they're both cropped right? I own some Blu-Rays and used to have the orange bricks. The Blu-Rays do look a hell of a lot better though.

I can't wait till we get a high res version of this Hit art, I might use it as an avatar.

The Orange Bricks were cropped by just cutting off the same amount of the top and bottom, the Blu-Rays were selectively cropped scene by scene to make sure nothing important was cut out, though sometimes it still does simply because of some frames not being able to be fit into a 16:9 frame, for instance there are some shots of the Ginyu force with Burter's head cut off.

It is implied that Champa will not give them anything.
Hit wants the cube and it is implied Cabba needs the money. No doubt Cabba is going to go all in.
Edit: Also Magetta could not fly, he was too heavy. That is why the ring broke around him. Vegeta called him a "piece of junk" which made him cry according to Reddit.

Ah ok, yeah the cropping did seem to be less severe, but I noticed some scenes with shit cut-off like you mentioned. Still never seen DBZ look so good, in terms of picture quality.

Hit is a bad motherfucker. I have a hard time believing anyone in this tournament is stronger than him. Monaka is the wild card though, dude's gonna snap, and show everyone the way of the nipple.

SSB has really grown on me over time. Vegeta looks fucking awesome in the state, I think he pulls it off better than Goku. It would have been cool if Goku was red, and Vegeta was blue. Could have had a Red Oni, Blue Oni thing going on.

They're cropped much better. As in, they actually focus on what's important within the frame. The Orange Brick releases are just a straight crop with no care for what's within frame. Gonna be legit and say it doesn't feel like a non-widescreen show at all.

The instances where the cropping doesn't work is so rare.

Also, the colour is way better. The Orange releases were very washed out.

Lol, already heard a theory that Cabba is another Gohan, and has a monstrous hidden power. I can totally see Vegeta pushing this kid too far, unleashing the beast.

Super keeps getting better, awesome episode. Great to see vegeta's signature moves return to action. Vegeta vs. Cabba is gonna be good. Hope Vegeta gets some solid fighting time in.

So vegeta beats Cabba. Hit beats vegeta, Goku, and Monaka?

For some reason, I don't see this tourney going three matches with Hit.

I suspect we won't see Goku fight again this tourney

so... the more I watch super, the more I kind of wish we would have just continued from the end of GT. i love what super is becoming but the power creep is real. would have loved to see Goku and Vegeta Jr go on their own adventures with their own friends, eventually hitting stuff like SSB on their own as a brand new transformation... that's just me, though. perfectly happy with super as is.

maybe one day as manga, game story, or anime. maybe.

Considering this is Toriyama's continuation, a sequel to GT was probably never on the table to begin with.

Why? We know he's back in, so unless Vegeta beats Hit Goku is going to fight.

It is implied that Champa will not give them anything.

I thought in 35 during the part where frost is trying to steal the gold, they show champa talking to the U6 group and says if you win you can take whatever you want, but if you lose "...well, that goes without saying" in a very threatening manner.

Edit: Also Magetta could not fly, he was too heavy. That is why the ring broke around him. Vegeta called him a "piece of junk" which made him cry according to Reddit.

that motherfucker

I thought it was hinted that Vegeta loses to Cabba.
Goku will probably beat Cabba and lose to Hit.
Monaka vs Hit no doubt it will go down.

Wonder why champa and beerus are fighting again, perhaps because vegeta went god mode?

Probably because Vegeta isn't taking the fight against Cabba super seriously. Vegeta probably toys around to see if he can get Cabba to go Super Cabba.

This probably makes Champa mad because Vegeta isn't taking it seriously.

seriously though. this show has some real hype going on with it

- seeing what causes Cabba to transform
- waiting to see what hit's powers are like
- waiting to see what Monaka's powers are like
- waiting to see what the fuck happened on Earth that they left a Gohan who had been training behind on
- where the final super dragon ball is
- what the wish they'll be used for if Beerus wins

i was really discouraged after we got to the ROF arc and Gotenks jobbed to Ginyu, but the show has taken a complete 180 since the recaps. animation quality aside the show feels like it kicked off right after the Buu saga rather than being made ~20 years after
