Gohan VS Super Buu

Gohan is really good in this role, if they had kept things going he could have easily fully grown into the role and Goku could have stayed a dead character. Knowing what I do feels like it ruins everything as it's clear Gohan is suppose to be the victor and Trunks and Goten become major characters as well.

It's part of the reason I don't like rewatching the Buu saga. A lot of great moments/lead ups that just get tossed away. Now we have Trunks/Goten serving as bland side characters who do nothing to further the plot and Gohan was nerfed down to oblivion only so they could seemingly build him back up again in Super.

Shit i might as well have watched this in japanese and translated it myself.

Goku's trolling of Vegeta continues, flat out mentions Bulma's boobs sagging right in front of him, he should've made his McDonald arch eyes to drive it home.

Actually, I think if Gohan becomes a formidable force again, his temporary dip in ability will be a nice touch to his character. It fits his peaceful nature well and gives him a real reason to step into the hero role and stay there. Only if he returns to form, though.

The build-up is definitely there. It'll be up to the writers to do good on it - and I have faith they will after episode 30 - but it's still kind of disappointing they had to retread something from Z to make his character relevant again I guess.

That said, I am happy with the current path of the character.

One scene really made me wonder how Piccolo's regeneration works, it's the one where he gets turned into stone and later broken into many pieces by Trunks by accident. When he turns back Trunks takes a look and it's not a pretty sight. Yet a minute after he's all fine and dandy again, seemed so odd considering he's taken less and been at deaths door. His whole excuse of being able to regenerate as long as his head is intact didn't make much sense either.

So many characters keep saying Videl and Gohan are boyfriend and girlfriend, yet they never even been on a date. Not that you wouldn't know it if you watched late, even Videl acts like the broken hearted girlfriend when told he's dead and refuses to believe it.

He can regenerate as long as his brain is intact.

If Frizea can go from being a joke as an actual threat to power levels that rivals Gods any character should be able to do the same.
A joke? He was the most powerful "normal" being in the known universe, and his battle potential was hinted as being enormous since it was obvious he never trained.

They should've made a thing with Frieza that he had no technique since he's never trained and just relies on his overwhelming power.

How is it a guy who has never trained in his life have the same grasp of fighting fundamentals as Goku who trained most of his life. Frieza should barely know how to throw a correct punch.

Mutant or not.

I still think that Piccolo will have a big power up by the time his match in the tournament comes.

There's no way
Frost
(Universe 6 fighter - episode summary spoilers) will just be so conveniently weaker than everyone else in order to have a fair match against Piccolo, especially with (episode summary spoilers)
Goku taking the initial battle
. It's just not how Dragonball works and not how they'd hype a new character. An episode title hints that Piccolo
has a chance of winning with the Makkankosappo - which suggests that although Piccolo will be weaker than him they won't be in completely different dimensions or anything
.

If you look at the way frieza fights way back in his original arc, he's not really a fancy fighter. He basically tanks everything and then hits back really hard. When he goes 100% there are some punch flurrys but most of his attacks were always big overwhelming power.

Frost may just fight Piccolo in his first form. Frieza's first form was significantly stronger than weak SSJ Gohan but I imagine after all that training that Piccolo would at least be capable of taking on Frieza's first form. When Piccolo eventually loses, Frost might transform up to match Vegeta.

I still don't know why they chose Piccolo over 18.

Won't the most powerful normal be Kid Buu? That's why I'm excited for Uub. Imagine if he trains. He has the potential to be one of the most powerful. Bonus points is that he should have the ability to copy moves just by seeing it once.

Maybe Frost is only Planet Namek Freeza level?

Piccolo is stronger then Planet Namek Freeza after fusing with Kami

One thing I am seriously hoping for is for the fights to stop being so boring for all the complaints one may have about animes like Naruto the fights are generally more interesting than the ones in DBZ (yes even after they became ninja jesus) I am hoping some inspiration is taken from Hunter x Hunter or hell even early DB because as of now every fight feels the exact same to me.

Hell it has gotten so bad that the only shounen I can think of with more boring battles is Bleach

I highly doubt it. He's supposed to be the emperor of universe 6. And we know that their team has characters as strong as Goku/Vegeta. No way is he an emperor if he's at planet namek frieza power level. I'm also looking forward to "Platinum Frost"!

I think he did a few times in the DBZ anime but it didn't really have a special meaning (it was likely errors by the anime writing team).
Sometimes I do wonder if the writing team just simply forgets things and no one notices due to the things forgotten just being individual character quirks

I don't understand why Krillin is always drawn to be extremely short and child-like. My understanding is that he isn't THAT short but he always looks like 4'0 next to everyone, even Vegeta.

Vegeta got tired of being an inch shorter than Bulma and absorbed some of Krillin's height making Vegeta taller and Krillin even shorter.

Toriyama's new design for Kuririn made him smaller than he was in his late Cell Saga/Buu Saga designs.

He once said that one of the reasons he didn't set stories at the End of Z was because Kuririn and Bulma looked too old there. So, I think even if we get to that period again, they'll still continue to be fairly youthful looking this time.

I was talking to a friend about the upcoming fights, and I speculated this to end up being the turn out:

Round 1: Goku vs. Botamo. Both get eliminated due to stupdity, lol
Round 2: Piccolo vs. Frost. Picccolo jobs to Frost hard w/o Frost transforming.
Round 3: Vegeta vs. Frost. Gruelling battle between the two, the first "real fight" and will showcase Frost's ultimate form. Vegeta wins this one.
Round 4: Vegeta vs. Magetta. Magetta jobs to him.
Round 5: Vegeta vs. Cabba. Cabba beats Vegeta w/o ever becoming SSJ, crushing Vegeta's pride.
Round 6: Monaka vs. Cabba. Cabba loses interest in fighting and concedes the battle, giving Monaka a free win.
Round 7: Monaka vs. Hit. First showcase of Monaka's powers, but Hit manages to win the entire thing.

Either that or it gets interrupted ala Boo saga but I don't see Toriyama doing the same thing twice, especially with the amount of emphasis each fight seems to be getting.

These subs were so bad, I understood more from just listening with my basic Japanese skills. I will rewatch this episode when the good subs come out.

Dang, I'm feelin' pumped for the next episode now. Wasn't too impressed with the Frieza episodes compared to the movie, but I'm excited to see how the tournament goes. Hopefully Piccolo does work.

Holy fuck, the subs for this latest episode were just... Dexter Fox, whoever the hell you are, why even bother?

Don't know if I liked this episode or not because it was more dialogue than action heavy, and these subs were just dreadful.

Preview looks really cool
