Lol, I still really like the Ocean Dub, up until Goku powers up for Ginyu, when the Funimation cast takes over. I like Shuki Levi's music, and love Brian Drummond's Vegeta. Really fits the character earlier on.

Watching that kid saiyan ('Beat' apparently) go SSJ due to Broly beating the shit out of Goku or Future Trunks going SSJ3 due to Majin Buu eating loads of people candy was more compelling to me in 10 second blips than hours of absolute shit that lead up to "oh we did some blue hair bollocks offscreen, don't worry about it".
We're stuck with the "we're only doing this so theres a weekly excuse for merch ads" format, but I'd much prefer the seasonal excellence of Attack on Titan and One Punch Man to inspire anime adaptions going forward.

Those two animes aren't seasonal, they just run out of shit to adapt and have to wait years for more material.

We got plenty of their training on screen, it would have been nice see them go Blue for the first time, but ultimately all we really need to know is that their training under Whis allowed them to tap into God Ki with their Super Saiyan forms. That's literally all Blue is, them tapping into God Ki by going Super Saiyan.
Dragon Ball won't go for a season format because it is and always will be targeted at children.

Super definitely has that "target for kids" atmosphere going for it compared to Z, which I feel is targeted to all ages. The OST was much more tense in Z as were the fights. Hopefully the new material brings back a bit of the missing violence

According to Toriyama, Yamcha and the Ox king are the two best cooking in the Dragon Ball universe. So if cooking, yes, otherwise no.

Wrong, it was targeted specifically at kids. Dragon Ball has ALWAYS been targeted at kids.
Super still has shit like Goku being stabbed by Beerus and Gohan being tortured by Freeza. The only thing it's really missing is blood.
The music is pretty bad most of the time though.
Yamcha hasn't really done anything in ages so you can't really call him a jobber anymore.

I'm kinda surprised that Cell is so low on that list. It's no wonder he's rarely ever mentiond compared to Frieza & Buu.

Cell getting beat by Korin is just wrong.
They really need to do a new one to see where everyone is at now in popularity.
Too bad there aren't any earthlings in the other universe. There might have been one.

After extensive research on YouTube, I can confirm that the Ocean Dub is complete trash.
The only decent voice was Vegeta, but he is nothing compared to Sabat.
I will admit that the original Funimation Dub is really rough, even with nostalgia glasses on max, but modern Funi is fantastic.

I know I'm late but damn I did not expect to see this guy pop up again. Whoever did this rendition is good but his design still doesn't do it for me.
Know who one of the best unsung characters is?
The announcer from the martial arts contest. No, not the narrator but the announcer guy at the competitions. Goku and co show up and he's happy to see them, not only that but he is probably the only normal person who realizes they were the ones to have defeated Cell instead of Satan. The only other person who might know is the animal president guy. Always enjoyed the announcer dude, he's one of those staples of the show over time that helps to add to things

Well, later on though, right? Ocean originally dubbed the first three movies and Funi re-dubbed them.
The Funi dub is really rough during the Frieza saga, but improves a lot in the Android and especially Cell saga, and then is great for the Buu arc.
He's the Rey Mysterio of Dragonball Z. Flashy moves but over time became a jobber.

You're right.I went on a crazy 2 hour YouTube binge last night comparing Ocean and Funimation, and Funi did get noticeably better as they went along.
I've never seen the dub past the epsiodes where Gohan goes to high school \o/.
Recently I heard the dub version of Buu and it's honestly... not good. I don't think I'll be visiting the dub any time soon.
I do like the original Funimation dub for most of Z before that though, even if they did change the original script quite a bit.

Sometimes when I read the Super manga, I hear the TFS voices and not Funimation.

Vegeta's TFS voice is that perfect balance between exaggerated parody and "Why can't I imagine this character sounding any other way now?" He's so good.
I'm glad FUNi is apparently OK with TFS and that they've even gotten old Ocean dub voices to cameo on their videos. I wouldn't have stayed so engaged with DBZ if it weren't for the Abridged series over the past few years.
