Katsusawa is a newcomer to Super, I can't find much on him really, but he did some Key Animation for Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans and Battle of Gods(the movie) and the preview for Episode 31 looks fucking gorgeous. Seizo is a great artist and the only episode of Super he's worked on is 4. Yashima does an episode of Super about every 6 weeks, almost like clockwork, but he also does a lot of work alone, providing relief for other teams, but even then he has done some episodes with nice art, he just needs to be provided good animators under him(which hopefully he will be). And then there is Tate, Tate can do amazing work, but he's mostly been rushed on Super and seemingly not had many good animators under him, but even then he's managed to do some cool shit, his coming episode will have also been 6 weeks since his last, which isn't terrible, especially since
the tournament doesn't start until episode 33.

TLDR: It looks like we got some good shit commin up.

Majin Pooh indeed

I think it's very obvious that Vegeta's universe will lose.
Otherwise the history won't progress and there won't be any danger.

Maybe Birisu will ask for a rematch and Vegeta will train in planet Salad or something.

Or like we've before, the tournament goes to shit and something out of left field happens.

I think we're definitely getting one of two scenarios
1. Shit goes down and the tournament is either abandoned (like in the Buu arc) or the fight becomes one for life and death but is still technically part of the tournament (like in the Piccolo Jr arc)
2. The tournament goes normally but leads directly into a new arc (Like in the Piccolo Daimao arc)

I can't imagine any shenanigans going down since Vados, Whis, Champa, and Beerus are all present to shut it down (unless one of them are responsible for it), but who knows.

Well yeah, it could be Champa's doing, or maybe something is done that makes them a nonissue for whatever happens, like they get teleported away or something.

We still don;t know for sure how the tournament works, if its like the old Baba one or like the more traditional tenkaichi.

Something something animation is never going to improve something something

I say Universe 7 will win and this will let Champa throw a tantrum and use the wish anyways. Would make for a more comedic and funny way to start the new arc of getting the SDBs back to wish Earth back to the proper Universe.

I wonder if the Dragon that will come out of the Super Dragon Balls will be tiny for comedic effect.

I could see them doing that for comedic effect, but I kinda want a situation similar to Porunga. Porguna was bigger than Shenron, because he was supposedly the "original". These Super Dragon Balls are the true originals, so I want an insanely huge dragon. Like something with the sheer size of a galaxy, or even the universe itself. Basically, give me that crazy-ass Toriko level of scale.

I've been thinking about this. I either want a stupidly large dragon or a humanoid one

Almost anything could happen.

Off the top of my head for plausible scenarios where the tournament goes to shit:

-U7 loses but Beerus realizes that the Super Dragon Balls are too valuable to lose. Beerus attacks Champa and Vados knocks out Beerus. Whis gets pissed and shit goes down.

-The other universes catch wind of such a tournament and other universes crash the tournament.

-Someone above Whis and Vados (either a parent of the head overseer of all of the universes) becomes involved in this tournament affair.

Toriyama likes drawing dragons because he thinks they're cool, I imagine he'd want to make the Super Dragon the coolest looking one.

I don't know why I haven't thought even once about Whis and Vados's parents...

I really hate the fact that Goku and Vegeta are going to spend THREE YEARS training in the chamber before the tournament starts. It really damages the momentum and excitement of the story for me. Three years is a long time to just casually decide to spend training before a tournament you can't wait to go to. Ideally a story in which the characters spend three god damn years training we should be there with them and understand what has lead to the moment of the tournament. We should be on the edge of our god damn seats as we watch the characters try not to fumble the couple of hours they spent YEARS training (during which they did nothing else and saw no one else ever) for, and if they lose it should be devastating.

This story gains nothing by having the characters train for three years straight, especially if it's mostly/entirely off-screen. Here's what it does do:

1. Ruin my suspense of disbelief. I know they're saiyans, but this is ridiculous. Vegeta at the very least seems to enjoy family life as of late! When the chamber was used during the Cell arc, Earth was at stake. This time, it's just some competition. The chamber was also previously used to fast-track character development, which I doubt we will see in Super.

2. As stated earlier, kill the momentum of the story. We'll lose the energy of how excited Goku is to participate in the tournament that's right around the corner because he will have aged three years.

3. Create even more continuity errors regarding the End of Z due to character ages.

4. Maintain the power gap between the Z Fighters to an insane degree. How is Gohan meant to keep up? He's only been training for a few days. There's no way he can match up to Goku and Vegeta when they have a head start in power and three years doing nothing but intensive sparring. If Gohan can't get close to Goku and Vegeta then he will remain a completely irrelevant fighter because A: If Goku and Vegeta can't defeat an enemy, Gohan with his inferior tactics and strength won't help at all and B: If Goku and Vegeta can defeat an enemy then what's the point of even bringing Gohan?

I know at least a few of my complaints can also be applied to the original series but after the unorthodox Battle of Gods movie in which we got more in-depth development of the characters and the nixing of some sacred series traditions, I thought we might be in store for a proper evolution of Dragon Ball rather than just... more of it. (Resurrection F felt like a self-aware parody of DBZ so I didn't mind it) I dunno, just a thought.

THREE GOD DAMN YEARS?!!

Gohan has been training for more than three days. Probably since the end of Freeza so about 8 months. As the audience we know there's been a decent amount of time that's passed because he says "I really want to see the results of my training..." and that wouldn't make sense if he had only trained for a few days.

I don't think the 3 years is going to make much difference in their overall strength. I don't think Vegeta spouted that line about diminishing returns, and them approaching their maximum for nothing. I think they'll be more polished, efficient, and a course a bit more powerful, but I honestly think we'll have to see another transformation or something of the like for them to really ascend further. While some people probably hate the idea of even more forms, I totally think there's going to be several more forms before Super is through. I think Caba is going to show some next level shit, and blow Goku and Vegeta out of the water.

They're gonna be even bigger bffs by the time they get out.

That would actually be far more interesting than the minimal gains they'll probably make. Lol Vegeta seeing Goku as a true genuine friend, and actually acting like it on the surface, would be a true evolution to the next level.

Yeah plus remember all the other times in the series where a character trained for years off screen and it didn't amount to huge gains...

If Goku and Vegeta aren't going to benefit heavily from the training, why even include it in the story? Or at least why wasn't it written to spend like a month max in the chamber? It's just a ridiculous thing to plonk into a story if it's not going to have an effect on anything.

Manga spoilers:
Especially considering Goku almost screws up his first fight right off the bat due to overeating. I don't think this is out of character but it certainly doesn't imply he's been training solely for this moment over three years.

In the manga it honestly felt almost like a side-note to me. After the brief attention that was given to it, and Vegeta even hinting at them reaching their maximum in the anime, I think their efforts are not going to end up meaning much. It could easily end with them busting out a new form as the fruits of their training for 3 years, or something else significant, but I just don't see that happening. I see them losing the tournament, and later seeking new ways to exceed their limitations. I just see it so clearly, Cabba goes SSB2. Vegeta gets fucking pissed lol, and Goku gets excited at the prospect of attaining new levels of strength.

So far, the new content of Super feels mostly comedic in nature, and there isn't much of a point to the
tournament
. It's a
petty rivalry between Beerus and Champa. There isn't an imminent danger to Earth, or to the universe at large. Maybe things will develop seriously later on.
I mean, this series is supposed to go on for 100 episodes or more.

I don't know why I haven't thought even once about Whis and Vados's parents...

To be fair, no other god in the series has parents. I mean, sure, Kami and Dende had parents, but to them being gods is a job. The born gods that we know of that aren't Ogres (i. e. the Shinjin) are "born" from fruit.

It's not unreasonable to assume they don't have parents.

To be fair, Tien could be as strong as Android Saga Vegeta for all we know and it wouldn't matter since everyone else has completely and utterly surpassed that level of strength

True.

I'd like to think Piccolo is as strong as Perfect Cell at this point but who knows.

East Kaioshin is such a goob for the kind of being that he is

It isn't.
True, but there's nothing saying it won't.

It's interesting that the manga ain't fully accurate tho.

In the anime, Gohan wanted to go fight but then remembers his conference. Goku is very understanding. In the manga
Goku asks Videl and then Goku goes "that little shit".

Just caught up to the latest episode

I have this weird feeling that this unnamed planet is the last missing Dragon ball coated with a layer of earth.

It is almost the same size as the other balls, and there's no name to it.
