Who said you're losing party control 100% with a system similar to X?

I suppose the worry would be that the party control would be the same as DQ10. Whereby you pick tactics from a list. As some others have suggested it's likely that if they do incorporate a direct movement component like DQ10 you could switch player characters on the fly and issue commands like that.

It's not Nintendo's responsibility to localize it and it shouldn't be.
Well, i don't disagree with that sentence ... but if SQEX skips a possible localization, Nintendo taking care of it would be more than welcome.

After all, it is a pretty high quality title, and although the Remakes did not sell that well, DQ 9 did, so there should be enough reasons ... for both Nintendo and SQEX.

Let's hope for the best ... and for Horii to randomly drop some news again where SQEX can't backpaddle anymore!

They said in the stream "As you can see the battle is command style and we're thinking of using the same for PS4 version" I guess it doesn't really say if it's completely turn-based or active but one would assume that command style means that you at least have control over all party members?

No, command style means menu-driven. That covers the gamut from classic DQ all the way up to FF12.

Makes sense, DQX does look "command style" too and you only control yourself.
Personally I don't have preference in this, I liked Persona 3 just as much as Persona 4 and DQX looks okay. I just hope it won't be recruitable members but static party with real characters and backgrounds etc. I guess shouldn't be too worried about that.

If they use a similar, yet different, system with both positioning and party control then I'm happy. If they use the exact same system, which is what I was saying, then I have a problem.
However, I don't really believe in the later as it's an offline game this time. I'm sure they know what they're doing.
I'm actually more worried about the customization/job system. I'd like something different from IX/X.

Both versions of the game look top shelf. Surely Sony will bring the PS4 version to the west. If so, hopefully that will put pressure on both SE & Nintendo to localize the 3DS game. Would look foolish to have only one version available in NA.

If they are considering the NX, I think that is the best best for localization, this won't be sniffing the west till late 2017 if we even get it, that is not going to happen on the 3DS

I'm expecting something along the lines of FFXII. Gambits but you can switch characters on the fly.

If DQXI PS4 uses the battle system of X then the 3DS version becomes the best by default.
Positioning is nice but the loss of party control is just terrible.

I thought it was said in the last Famitsu or Dengeki Playstation ( I don't remember frankly), that DQ XI on PS4 would be a traditional turn-based RPG... no?

Dragon Quest XI to have a casino, Spell of Restoration

Dragon Quest series creator Yuji Horii shared new details on Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time during a CEDEC 2016 presentation today.

As far as development progress goes, Dragon Quest XI‘s scenario has been completed in its entirety, and right now they’re implementing maps and scenarios and such into the game, which are said to be at the stage where you can get an impression of them, though the details are still being filled out.

Both Horii and Square Enix’s Yosuke Saito had a five-to-six-hour business meeting yesterday, and while the check of an episode took three hours, various other ideas came into discussion.

These checks involved the response speed, which they carried out in the 3DS version’s 3D mode, and once the specifications are solidified, the same will be applied to the 3DS version’s 2D mode and the PlayStation 4 version. It also seems like they did battle checks for the PlayStation 4 version.

As a final bonus, Horii confirmed that Dragon Quest XI will have a casino, as well as implement the “Spell of Restoration.” The Spell of Restoration was only ever used in the NES and MSX versions of Dragon Quest I and II as a password save system. As said by Horii, including it is very much a “30th anniversary-ish thing.” Unfortunately, he didn’t share details as to how it will be used.

Dragon Quest XI is in development for 3DS, PlayStation 4, and was most recently confirmed for NX.

Thanks, Game Watch.
