Dragon Quest 11 (JP) |OT| whynotboth.gif

Okay... for some reason I forgot where early in the game you fight
The Blue Dragon in the Underground Labyrinth where you can ride the Skull Rider for the first time
, I want to get the treasures there.

Also can you upgrade an item continuously? Say you smith a +1, can you turn that into a +2, and then a +3?

Edit: I fixed my spoiler. Ugh...

I believe it's in the region where homura village is.

It wasn't THAT rare for me. However... there is others that I have yet to find such as the Panda.

Thank you to those who have answered my questions.

That feeling when (post-game spoilers)
you go to do the 'trial' in Delcadar temple and get both enemies down to orange health and wait for zone and then realize that you reset Silivia's skillpoints and he doesn't have daimajingiri with Greig anymore

waaaaaste of tiiiime

That sucks, lol

I had to redo that fight twice because of waiting for Zone and then getting hit with criticals all over while I was waiting. =|

At least at that point you could do the
Samadhi's prince's
side quest, which rewards you with 8? items which allow you to force characters into the zone, making that a bit less annoying.

Well I actually have several of those I bought from the casino, and I did use them when I went back to do the quest. But I'm frugal.

It was better once I realized that Silvia's zone isn't used up when that renkei is used though.

I am having a TERRIBLE time with rare monsters. Trying for the
Panda
Bear and unique Snow
Homunculus

Do you have the miracle ring equipped? The 70 medal reward. It increases the chances of running into rare monsters. There's also the miracle necklace which has a similar effect, from the horse races.

Holy metal babbles, how did anyone finish this game at all? The forging mini-game is so addictive it's like crack that's addicted to crack!

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
Can someone spoil me with a simple yes or no answer? (Nothing beyond that!)

Does this game connect to the Loto/Erdrick trilogy?

If it does... is it in a cool way?

You should be a bit more specific since how are we supposed to know what kind of spoiler is hidden in there ? Well actually I am seeing what is in spoiler tag while answering but I don't have the answer...you should add something like "for those who completed the game" for exemple.

I've played zero seconds of this game and don't even know if what I posted is a spoiler, how am I supposed to know what part of the game it is/isn't revealed at is? I'm basically taking a wild shot in the dark based on the fact that I saw a screenshot of the hero wielding
Erdrick's sword, or at least what I think was that

Yeah I have it equipped on him as the first accessory (it's a Rank D item, correct?) with the
Falling Star Armlet
as the second. I tried several times to upgrade the modifier only to fail so I reset.

Had very little time to play these past two weeks, but finally managed to sink in another hour or three last night. I love how even short play sessions are really worthwhile plot-wise; so much happens in relatively little time!

Which casino is this?

Difference of opinion I guess, but when I only have a couple hours to spare I don't want to spend half of it on rails. DQXI is a very pretty game and has ample gameplay depth, but personally I wish it wasn't so plot-heavy to the point that my "exploring" is entirely weaving back and forth to scavenge ingredients while I dutifully follow the path from A to B to C.

Does this game open up at all at any point, and when it finally does, is it only so you can backtrack to areas you no longer have any reason to visit? DQXI is fun to play but I'm tired of getting turned away by guards saying the next area is too dangerous when it's blatantly obvious they just didn't want to code for a sequence break. I'm the gottdamn hero; let me be the judge of whether it's too dangerous or not, medieval Paul Blart.

I don't think Dragon Quest has ever been a game where the player judges what is good or evil? The only thing I can ever think of (and I know there is probably 1-2 Gaffers who played it maybe tops) is MysticalMUD where your class chosen was good, neutral, or evil.

Since I am so used to Diablo II, I am referring to the reincarnation monsters as uniques. I just had a Metal King run away from me but the next battle gave me a unique so it sort of made it up.

Edit: I got lucky and I killed the
Giant Pandora's Box
which begs the question... where is the
Giant Mimic
? and what does it drop? In fact what does the former monster drop? Whatever it was, it must be valuable since it retails for 200,000 Gold.

Sort of, and I thought it was cool.

It's not exactly that.

I'm slowly but steadily progressing through the second part of the game.
I'm at the point where you found
Camus in the ship's cellar
and just beaten
the red orb boss
.
Btw I like that the game doesn't force you to follow one path directly here and you can go almost anywhere you want when you have the ship and do different story parts.
For example before the part where you
go to paradise
for a moment I went back to Homura village and did the story part with
the fire lizard right
until you fight him the second time.
Haha, he annihilated me.Man that critical damage was insane
I couldn't beat him so I left and continued the main story.
Did anyone beat this boss before finding all the party members again?
Furthermore, when you collect
all the orbs again
how much more do you have until the end?

I'm a little ways into the second part (Act?) of the game. 35 hours or so in.

Exploring the
prison
with
Greg
. This section of the game is eerie. Monsters are looking a lot creepier.

Side note: Where can I find a recipe for making Falcon Swords?

I like to think dual wielding was put in the game for this very moment (post-game spoilers): http://imgur.com/a/fEQeE

Weird from a story perspective (I like that Camus thought it was kinda odd too lol), but that's been overridden by the Rule of Cool.

Post game is ok so far, though a lot of the quests I accepted seem a little tedious relative to the rewards you get, so I haven't gotten around to doing many of them yet. I'll also admit I have a particularly high tolerance for asset recycling. :p

I've spent quite a lot of hours in the post-game not accomplishing very much. But I don't mind it in the least. I mean, I tried the
first trial
around level 52 and it took me double the turns the game wanted, so I just started going around picking up quests and solving problems like always. It's a totally different kind of pace, and I like it.

I'm actually curious how soon after starting people managed to get into the
first trial
and finish. I don't grind metals and have no intention of doing so.

It's a bit of a shame that dq11 doesn't have something like dq 8 that gives you a place to reasonably farm seeds for fun to get even more op.

How much do the monster games actually sell like how bad are the chances for a console dq monsters? The mon animation are just so hella charming I already said it but man I want that badly. Also looking at the release dates for dqs I guess the chances for another title this gen are insanely slim.

I beat them all on my first try, though I have mentioned just how overpowered my strategies were.

Last time we heard Monster series is dead.

Most monster models come from the Heroes games anyway, so they've been resued in a way.

I did see your post earlier in the thread about how you were doing 4000+ damage per turn, but I can't imagine how. Fully debuffing enemies and buffing up my characters will get me over 1000, but it's nothing like 4000+.

Even on level 99 I was doing only 1500 with
Camus using ぶんしん+バイキルト+crit hit skill.
And I think I had one of the best weapons on him.

Combine skills that do multiple hits with other skills that do multiple hits its a way to do it, there wasn't one attack that did much damage.

I didn't try debuffing the bosses, but typically on other games bosses have high immunity to sap at this point of the game so I didn't even bother, just bikill or oomph on whoever is attacking.

Heh. Figures I'd do the quest that would be best done first in the post-game almost last.

The Mermaid Queen quest gives you 女王の愛(I see what you did there) which tells you all the remaining side quests you have left in the post game when you use it. Of course I only had 2 left when I got it!

Today's post-game progress:

Finished restoring Ishi village, went back and whipped the first trial's butt in 15 turns, re-made the hero's sword, got Erwin's armor, powered up Lowe and Greig via their respective quests, and defended Kinai and Romia from mermen, saved Humphrey's butt again in Grotta... I think that's it.

A few more quests to do and a few more sub-scenarios to do, lots of crafting... but the main thing standing in my way right now is the 連武討魔行, which has a lot of good rewards and difficult requirements.

Those trials are pretty fun and can be a little tough but yeah, the rewards are great.

My questions will be few and far between now.

Crafting question:

How do I improve upon S rank items? Example I want to turn a Falling Star Armlet into a +2? What helps the most?

Unless I'm missing something, I think that some postgame items can't be upgraded to +1/2/3.
You can upgrade some of them to different items if you have the materials, which include the weaker version of the weapon. That changes them into a different item though.

Whats a good place to grind out levels for someone in their 40s?
Looking on guides I see metal slimes as a good way for getting XP, but I never actually seem to encounter them in the areas that people say they are.

The Eastern island on the outside sea. Fight King Slimes, get Liquid Slimes from time to time. 10k xp per kill.

I've become too used to some of the conveniences in the PS4 version that aren't in the 3DS one, especially teleporting to camps. Not being able to do that is such a pain, man.

Surprised to find my first costume in a shop so early. At least for where I am the defense is good.

Also quite the monster power bump entering this area. Being on the receiving end of a renkei sucks.

Here is the deck that I created with the vocabulary of the game that I created so far fir the prople that requested it.Of course it's not everything but if someone knows most of these, he/she will have no problem undestanding most of the game.
Btw can maybe someone answer a spoiler question that I had above?
