What's with Japan and effeminate tall guys? First P5, now DQ11...is it trendy or something? Sylvia is awesome BTW : sissy as hell but also strong and confident. I love him already (his victory pose is the best)
I'm so torn on 3DS vs PS4. My PS4 backlog is huge and my 3DS one isn't so big (just need to finish DQVIII), and it's nice to have a handheld JRPG for bedtime and when my wife has the lone TV in the house.
But damn that PS4 version looks amazing.
Is it literally just graphics I'd be missing out on? No gameplay differences, features?
One thing I liked about IX was upgrading my player's outfits and stuff and seeing them on the screen. Lame I know.Is that still a thing on the 3DS version?
FWIW, the official hashtag is #DQ11 so it would seem SQEX agrees with you!As my goal is always to communicate clearly, I don't use Roman numerals. As mentioned above, people tend to get them confused. I see no reason to use them at all if it's going to lead to confusion when someone can read an Arabic numeral and not get confused.
Something that seemed to come up a lot in prerelease interviews was that the story was supposed to have an "on the run" kind of feel. Has that been borne out in everyone's experiences so far?

Well, being that it is not my job to market the game, I don't put much stuck in official titles.
That's been the focus as far as I've played. I was actually going to comment that this makes the game feel pretty unique as far as Dragon Quest stories go. There's a much firmer focus on the hero and his story than any sort of vignettes thus far. But I'm not super far in at this point, so it remains to be seen how long this will go on for. It's very interesting, regardless.
Right, 2018.THis is not 2017 fos NA right?

In general, DQ11 has no sense of resource management at all. Character inventories are enormous, they brought over the smaller MP restoratives from DQ10, and you still have the ability to restore MP by melee attacking with staves as in DQ9/DQ10. That plus the abundance of camps and full healing on level up means that MP should rarely if ever be an issue.
It's a bit of a bummer as a long-time fan, because the series started out with a keen focus on resource management. But I suppose people just don't enjoy that, so now it's not really a thing anymore.

Essentially upgrading the weapons.
Stop hyping me up!I probably mentioned it in the thread before but the PS4 version's presentation is just out of this world. They really paid a ton of attention to what they wanted to convey and put a lot of effort into the animation to do so, particularly facial animations.
Is it? I just unlocked the feature last night, but I believe it's possible to get a worse result than the one you うちなおした. Isn't it just a "re-roll" that consumes a different generic resource than the specific resources required to craft an entirely new one?

Is there a good way to use something to translate the text while I play? Never imported a new game before.
Get the Google translate app for your phone and then just hold it up to the screen. =)

I think I've decided to go ahead and dedicate to one version at a time now. Going with 3DS 3D first!
... I reserve the right to change my mind, though.

I hope this is sarcasm.

Kinda. It isn't entirely accurate but it does give you a general idea of what is going on with the story. It's quite helpful for navigating the menus though. So if you import the game and don't know any Japanese I would at least use the app for this. It does the translation in real-time using your phone's camera so you don't have to first take a screenshot and then use the app to translate it.
YesA few questions for the lucky ones:
-howms the exploration? Does the level design make you want to explore every nook and cranny?
I haven't done many so not much that I can comment, they're a lot better than IX's at least.-how are the quests?
In looks character customization is limited in the way VIII was, 30 hours in I've found 5 costumes, not even for the whole cast, there are the skills though, but it doesn't change how the characters look.-how's the weapon variety (in types) and character customization?
Cool, yes, challenging, no.-how are the boss fights? Cool? Challenging?
