Dragon Quest Builders 2 announced for PS4/Switch, has multiplayer

maybe the sequel will actually have co op and free building areas and have you build up a megatown instead of 'transport to new island / start over completely'

Day 1

The first one was a fantastic surprise for me and Switch seems like the perfect platform for the sequel. Graphics closer to the PS4 version with the portability of the Vita version, all in one package.

It has other things that make it great, that Minecraft doesn't have.
It's not a Minecraft clone.

Yeah I honestly couldn't get into Minecraft that much. DQ Builders on the other hand was fantastic. Having a story mode with bosses and quests was so much fun.

Looking forward to playing on the Switch 9+ months after it launches on PS4.

I skipped this on PS4, but always wanted to play it. I'll definitely be grabbing this for Switch. Pretty excited and surprised to know that it's coming!

I never could get into Minecraft but loved Dragon Quest Builders. Hmm, gonna have to decide if I want to get it on PS4 or Switch...

I wonder if this is still being developed using the PhyreEngine.

It's not a Minecraft clone.

At first glance people will think it's a Minecraft clone. What differs is that it has set objectives, focused areas, and a third person view. Making the experience different than a Minecraft clone.

Is the demo for the first game a good indicator if you'll like the game? I'd hate to play the demo for it to do unnecessary harm.

I hope they bring the rocket car back too. That was kinda fun once you find a good area without too many obstacles.

They also need to keep the boss fights as involved as they were in the first title. Less random waves of enemies though please.

I didn't think BOTW would have a influence on games this early, then again even AC seems to be using the slowmo arrow shot

I heard the first game got repetitive, which kept me away. Can anyone elaborate? I would really like to pick this up

The game's Story Mode has you run into an abandoned town. You then meet various NPCs and build up a town while completing quests. Usually involves getting a certain material, making a building, crafting a new tool ect. Every so often you'll face off against hordes of enemies who will attack your town culminating in a Boss Battle that ends the arc.

Once you're done you leave the town and head into the next chapter. From there it's basically a clean slate with you starting in a new area with a new town and new set of characters to help. Some can find it repetitive to start from nothing all over again for each chapter but I think it handled it fine. They limit the material types you can use in each chapter so you end up working with different stuff each time.
