There is but it hasn't been announced for western release yet. It's called Dragon Quest XI

And Level-5 developed DQVIII and DQIX, they didn't publish them.

I played the demo at bestbuy and the only thing I didn't like was how close the camera was to your character. Maybe there was a zoom out option, but I didn't look around in the demo.

I've never actually played a musou or musou-like game before, but DQ is my favorite game franchise ever, so I'll definitely be picking it up. Super excited to bash some DQ baddies in real time again, after Swords.

Also, I love that the alliteration was full on in the trailer. I'm so glad the punny and alliterative nature of DQ finally transferred to the west, especially starting with DQIX.

100%, she looks like a great lead. DQXI's just feels under-designed compared to other protagonists. I read Toriyama once said he loves designing video game heroes since he can put more effort into the little details of their concept art but it doesn't seem like he's doing that to take advantage of today's graphical fidelity.

Nope.

Most people here don't know what musou is. It's more than just having hundreds of enemies on screen. Musou as a genre means you and your army trying to capture enemy territories and beating the enemy commander. This game has none of that. The developers have explained this too. It's not a musou, but in terms of combat it's very, very similar for sure.

The trailer talks about putting together a party of 4 before each fight that plays into the strategy.

I'm playing through now, a few hours in. It's pretty repetitive, I think the combat is OK but it's not as deep as what I played in Hyrule Warriors (the moveset seems very limited), the tower defence stages are really annoying, and ironically I probably would have liked Musou-like stages more than anything I've seen so far.

It's alright, but I don't think it's going to set the world on fire. It might review better than traditional omega-force games at least.
