Dragon Quest Heroes - Overview Trailer.

This game a lot of the stages are closer to tower defense to give people an idea of how some of the stuff will play out. Which basically means you will need to keep the monsters away from a specific point on the map and if it gets destroyed its game over. While its not all of the maps, it will be a repeated theme for the map objective though.

Thankfully the use of the monster coins is what keeps things interesting. But for some it might not be enough to keep happy.

With that being said though still really did have a good time with the title and so did a lot of other members who spent time with the import copy of the game.

Guys which one is the best musou game?

This or the One Piece?

I like the OP IP more, but DQ Heroes seems to be the better game...

I don't know which one to buy...

The One Piece games are great so it really depends on which series you prefer more. DQH is a much more polished game with a higher production value than One Piece but both games share some similarities.

I say buy them all lol but if I had to pick one of say DQH for now and wait for the One Piece games to go on sale the first two have been out for awhile now so they will eventually go on sale before DQH.

I can't wait for this game. I love Dragon Quest series and I am excited it's back on console.

I love the voice acting in this game. It's so cheesy it's amazing. Some voice work at 6.20 in the video.

It you like the Japanese one more you can change it as any time.

The voice work really is on point. I wonder why the english voice work is always so much better in DQ games than Final Fantasy games?

Hows the character skill progression? Is there meaningful things in the trees that change the way things look? Or just meaninigful things?

I dont think there are many DQ GameS that have voice acting, but iirc the same studio that did the voicework for Xenoblade is what's voicing this game (thank goodness they got the orignal yangus)

Its just larger effects for stuff mainly along with the stats upgrades and other abilities that said character may have.

Works well enough though as gives you something to progress towards and a reason to keep grinding out stage after stage after stage in the usual "Musou" design fashion lol

Yeah, I guess Dragon Quest VIII was really the only other DQ game with voice work. Still, it was leagues better then any of the voice work I've ever heard in a Final Fantasy game.

I really hope that voice studio gets more work with game dubs.

Yeah, I think this is only the third DQ game released in the West, to have voice acting

DQVIII
DQ Swords
DQ Heroes

All done by SIDE based in the UK.

Dragon Quest sword have voice acting too.

I'd bet that they'll perform the voice work for DQ11.. unless SE decides to fuck up and hire the voice director of Type-0... because lord was that probably the worst thing i've heard this gen and most of last (barring Arc Rise fantasia because damn that was terrible)

Thanks for the advice man. I guess that's what I'll do!

Omg thats amazing. I love all their voices.

especially Kiryls and Alena
"Please it is too much perilous"

"Now inward to combat!"

The voices are perfect.

I can only imagine how great DQ11 with dub would be.

Think of it this way, a ps4 so you'll be able to play Dragon quest 11 when its out (unless you like the 3ds version's aesthetic which is fine as well)

Yup, Dragon Quest is the main reason to get a PS4 (at least for me), so Dragon Quest Heroes and Dragon Quest 11 will be a must have... :D

(The 3DS version looks cool, but I prefer the PS4 version)

The fighting reminds me of Trinity Souls of Zill o ll. Had fun with the game, but of course it wasn`t perfect.

This will be my october game.

No Z targeting but the game has many bosses. Many of the boss fights re pretty challenging.

Is the game in general challenging? I found the lack of any challenge the majority of the time in HW to make it a bit less exciting than it could be.

It has a good challenge to it.Some of the bosses take some strategy and It's definitely more challenging than the normal DW type game but I think they find a good balance.

Thinking about skipping Uncharted Collection and getting this game. I only played DQ8 (well, only get to
Dark Ruin and stop there because boss was a dick
) but i fall in love with character design and world building. Is this game repetitive like musou? Are post game contents good for me to return? Any clone character? (I need to know this because i love playing with different characters with different movesets)

Is anyone kind of annoyed with the pre-order bonuses for this game?

It seems like most outlets are stocked with the Day One edition, which includes the set of slime weapons. That's fine, no pre-order necessary for that, really, since I'm sure they'll be on shelves for months afterward.

S-E Store:
PRE-ORDER NOW to get the Square Enix Online Store exclusive DRAGON QUEST III hero costumes for Luceus and Aurora!
GameStop:
Pre-order Dragon Quest Heroes at Gamestop to receive the Exclusive Dragon Quest Heroes Fabric Banner!
PSN:
Pre-order and receive a bonus after checking out:
- Dragon Quest Heroes Static Theme

PRE-ORDER NOW to get the PlayStation®Store exclusive in-game item, the Goolden Axe, which can be equipped on Yangus to give him a gooreat head start!
Amazon:
Best Buy:

Without knowing which things would be downloadable or even at what price point on the PSN, it's hard to gauge which outlet would be "best" to purchase from.

It's also worth noting that by everything I've been able to see online, the DQ3 outfits and the slime weaponry (like Yangus's axe) are legitimately exclusive and not downloadable.

How long is this game? 30 hours?

It's about 25-30 hours long to finish the campaign longer if you do all the side quests. It took my about 74 hours to platinum the JP version but that's because of the language barrier, I'd say 50 hours is a safe guess to platinum the game,

With DLC or not ? i heard some of the endgame content is very very difficult...

I'm hesitant on this game. I liked Hyrule Warriors and One Piece Pirate Warriors 3, but I haven't played a dragon quest game since VIII. I know this is a musou, but a ton of the excitement from those games came from the fact that I knew all/most of the characters and liked following their stories. I don't even remember anything from VIII other than Yangus being the GOAT sidekick.

I really don't know if I can wait until the 13th. Might download the Japanese version and pick up the physical later. How hard is it to understand?

That's just for the campaign in my experience. You will need to do a bit of grinding to level up so it takes abit of time. Now the thing is they've changed a few things from the JP version though.

The stuff they're offering with the pre-order and day one edition of the game like the slime sword and the two items maps are already items that are in the game they aren't anything new they've added but they make leveling and gathering medals very easy.It looks like they realized this as they've clearly changed this so I'd have to factor that in to the time. If those items aren't made till later on then it could add more time to the game.

The DLC is pretty challenging I'd say each one added was roughly 1-3 hours of content so I'd say expect 30 hours with the DLC and another 20 if you go for platinum.

How is RPG elements? Does it play big role here or just button mashing?

There is a good amount of strategy and some button mashing but the game also feature a "skill tree" of sorts that you can level and customize as you playthrough the game. Here is what it looks like and each character has one.

The JP version takes sometime to get use to if you don't know Japanese. I wrote a pretty big guide for this over at playstation trophies that should break the trophies down. I'd say wait for the english version since it's so close now unless you're looking to get the platinum for the JP version.

Damn, was going to preorder this on PSN, but I guess I can't use a 10% discount code on preorder games. I'll have to wait for the actual release day. No preloading for me.

I tweeted the official DQ account (which is currently dressed up for DQH) about post-launch DLC and if it will include preorder retailer DLC, but they haven't answered me. :(

Chances are there won't be any post launch DLC because all the post launch DLC the JP version had is already included in the western release.

Except for the DQ3 costumes which was their pre-order DLC.

Edit: Basically, I want those costumes but I don't want to order it from the S-E store because then I'd have to pay for shipping.

So the DQIII costumes were never put on PSN in Japan? I really want them but I don't want to preorder on the crappy SE store.

Edit: ^what he said lol

With protag wearing Erdrick's outfit,
Sword of Kings and Shield of Heroes
he really looks like Erdrick himself (because of his hair style).

You're not making this easier!

Also according to the S-E store, orders placed after 9/28 are definitely not getting it on release day, so that's an additional bummer.

Quick, everyone bombard their twitter account and make their spokesperson say something he can't take back!

So, I was at Gamestop today and while I was looking around I heard our familiar Dragon Quest tune. Noticed they had a playable demo of Dragon Quest Heroes on their demo unit so I check it out.

Holy shit, the game is awesome. Didn't look too much into this title, but after playing for about 15 minutes I was totally sold. Game looks fantastic too. I immediately went and pre-ordered it, don't want to risk getting a gutted copy. :P
