I think there was a tweet saying that the press has been informed that it'll be the next DQ. It's pretty much confirmed at this point.

DQXI for PS3/4 is pretty much a lock, up to now. A Vita version is what could be still undecided (for us, of course), but anything else is a lock.
I wouldn't exactly say a PS3 version is a lock.
I hope you all get this out of your system now, because we're moving to zero tolerance for platform whining once the announcement is made.
Well, it doesn't have a DQ spinoff, true. The fact that there hasn't been a single DQ spin-off for Wii U makes it seem very, very unlikely. They've clearly been pushing the franchise towards Sony platforms ...despite the obvious money they'd have made on the 3DS.
I suppose there's a slim chance of it being on NX since it'll likely launch around the same time as the next DQ but my feeling is it'll be exclusive to Sony platforms.
If Wii U had gotten anything I'd have thought it would have been a port of Dragon Quest Builders... as creation software like that is really made for touch screens. The fact it didn't, doesn't bode well.
On this day, i will visit NeoGAF logged out, just to make sure to stay away from that thread.I hope you all get this out of your system now, because we're moving to zero tolerance for platform whining once the announcement is made.

Well I hope you guys can find good proxy or something.
DQIX taught everyone a lesson.
What about localisation discussion?

Moving away from the subject of platform(s), what might be a plausible release window for Japan? Dragon Quest games tend to be announced long before release. Might we be looking at 2017 ?
It's going to be released in 2016. They're not going to miss the series's 30th anniversary.
Sounds like alot of Dragon quest games will be releasing in a short timeframe. It's going to be released in 2016. They're not going to miss the series's 30th anniversary.

At this point, localization sounds more like a when than an if. Depending on the platforms and their number, they might not all get a localization though.DQIX taught everyone a lesson.

Manette is the word we use in France to name a controller and many of my friends used "la manette du gameboy" or "la manette de la DS" because that'S how they refer to the buttons and the pad on the device. But that's beside the point.
"The game was designed around a controller" or "The game was designed with a controller in mind" means that it's based around pad/thumbs/buttons inputs. Nothing more, nothing less. Otherwise, how would you name a game for portable consoles that's on them instead of mobiles because you want them to be played with buttons, pads and the like?

If DQ11 is announced for PS4 tomorrow... it will be an JRPG console equal to PS1/PS2.

The question is how long will it be between Japanese and western releases.
Yeah. Seems like there's a million of them coming 2016.I currently own 0 JRPGs on PS4.
Really hope they start coming out within the next year or so.

that, and it fits nice and neat in the 3-5 year development cycles for these games since dqv

I'm curious if they'll bring back custom characters from IX or go back to a pre defined cast, or maybe a mix of both by having just the silent hero being a custom character.
and more recently Persona 5 too. You could hardly step into a Persona 5 hype topic before it was announced without seeing pages of which console will it come to. And even after the PS4 port begging was tremendous.
I've learned to just stay out of these threads for the most part until the livestream is over so that relevant discussion is what I'm seeing.

When I used to lurk and before P5 was revealed, I remember seeing people who were adamant Persona 5 would/should be a 3DS game too I'm pretty sure.

Which was both funny and odd people even thought that would be possible.

Because P5 is long time hinted for PS3 by Atlus themselves. Very similar to DQXI situation here. Why's that?
Shin Megami Tensei made the jump to handhelds so I don't see why Persona couldn't have. That being said I'm very glad it didn't.
How do you figure, if it does come out on PS4 then the PS4 will still be majorly lacking in that department 1 new and 2 remake FF games plus 1 new DQ game does not make for an RPG system even rivaling the Genesis, let alone ps/ps2.If DQ11 is announced for PS4 tomorrow... it will be an JRPG console equal to PS1/PS2.
Somewhere around 35 - 45 hrs based on my own playthroughs - but I'm a slow player. It's longer than DQIV and V, but not by much, I think. It just goes back to this whole mentality that because 3DS' user base is so big, everything should be on it. It's really shortsighted.
On another note, how long is Dragon Quest VI? I started it yesterday and got about 10 hours in (loving it so far, even more so than IX, though its hard to compare to VII right now).
I'm up to the part where. I know that's probably not far, but I'm just curious to know how big the game is.King Somnus looks into the mirror and transforms into Apnea
Like DQVIII? I'd say pretty high since it'll probably be perceived as a step back if they go with a world map structure (though I didn't mind Ni No Kuni's kind). I just hope if they're going for that scale that they give us plenty exploration incentives. DQVIII didn't have enough imo. What are the chances the over world will be on a 1:1 scale in relation to the characters? Would people want that?
I hope not, DQ8's world map was padded as fuck. What are the chances the over world will be on a 1:1 scale in relation to the characters? Would people want that?

PS4 has Star Ocean, Tales of series, Kindom Hearts, Persona, plus other RPG studio's output (Gust, Falcom, Nippon Ichi, etc). Bascailly every single remaining 3rd party RPG series is on PS4, how you can compare it to the Genesis is beyond me.
