PC ver for Japan only doesn't make much sense, maybe they want to get it out in Asia too? that makes more sense.

still not holding my breath for localization but chances are better now.

You know... lost exclusive and stuff.

Except PC gaming isn't near as big in Japan, and they still have a console exclusive on it.

Seriously, PC port was called before the game was even released. This isn't a shock. Wake me when say, DQXI turns out to be an iOS / Android game.

I wasn't really expecting this.

ahahahaha oh Nintendo.

Well that was unexpected

That's.. unexpected.

I thought they might release it on more consoles

Megaton. It will be coming to the US. Calling it.

Can't tell if you guys are being sarcastic or not, but this really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. They'll have to broaden the potential userbase for this game and PC is a natural choice for an MMO. It helped FFXI, especially in western markets.

I posted this in the other thread, but that got locked. Assuming a localization is coming, who will do it? Would Nintendo localize a game that's available on another platform? Is SE going to cease its abdication of its publishing duties and actually release a DQ game in the west?

Called it, I was surprised when it was first announced on Wii without a PC version. Similar to FF XIV

They demo the cell version with Android, and Tablet version with Windows Surface.

Way to be a rebel.

I assume it'll be done in-house like FFXI/XIV were but I could be wrong.

Well a PC version is very different than one on competitor's systems. Nintendo could pay for localisation and publish on Wii U whilst allowing SE to publish on PC. The fact that they share servers means they could even help each other.

The nintendo brand is finally over. Maybe next decade!

It's over, period. nintendo lost their last ace, and that's the end of their wii u hopes and dreams.

It's not hyperbole, it's not fanboy drivel. It is LITERALLY it for wii u. nintendo has nothing left, nothing they have can fix the hole now created. There is no reason left for anyone, hardcore or casual, to substantially invest in a wii u. Except if they want to play bayonetta 2. Which will also come to xbox one at some point.

Microsoft took the last reason away that anyone would NEED to own a wii u over an xbox one (except TVII LOL GAMING), and the cavalcade of tiny titles that will be nice but won't stir up any sales is not going to salvage the bloated, overdesigned behemoth that was wii u.

There may be some hardcore gamers that stick around. Some did it for ps3 too. But the last bell tolled. Maybe next decade.

The age of nintendo is done.
This post was the best hyperbole last generation, by the king of hyperboles.

I don't think they were people wanting to buy a Wii U just for DQ X. And that's why there is a PC version.
This game is not loved for being a MMO too.

Surprisingly, there actually was a lot of people that picked up a Wii for DQX.

Now, No one picked up a Wii U for DQX, or at least, didn't pick up the WiiU version of DQX -- because the Wii version works on the Wii U, and the difference isn't THAT big.

Release date: September 26th, $100, and you can get a slime themed Square Enix Authenticator.

Not being sarcastic at all. I'm not denying this game, as any MMO, is a natural fit for PC, but I never got the impression they even considered to port the Dragon Quest franchise outside of consoles.

Surprising, but makes a lot of sense. With the second SKU failing to achieve meaningful momentum or traction, SE really needed an extra stream of revenue, asap. Then again, this move proves that the company isn't handling this as a mainline DQ, but exactly like XI, as they should. And the latter was released on many platforms to the point where it was once considered for Vita.

If Nintendo does localize it, then chances are that they'll be the publisher and thus control which platforms this game releases on.

Personally, I don't see Square-Enix localizing the game themselves.

Yes, you're right.
They didn't think that the Wii U version would be worth it to upgrade.
Then again DQ is not that big outside of Japan too :/

It's still one reason less to buy a nintendo console.

People with a PC still bought Ps360 this gen, it's not that big of a deal. But yes, I'm sure millions of people are waiting for DQX to buy a Wii U and are now rejoicing all over the world sayiing "yes fuck you mario brand!" if that makes you happy.
