It was said by Capcom to be for compatibility between the Japanese and non-Japanese pc versions. This would include files for textures, language translation, audio, and possible other files that differ between the regions.
That said, when I logged into the game a little bit ago, I immediately noticed improved textures and 3-dimensionality (depth of field? is that the correct term?) just in Cassardis alone.
Inflection now works correctly on PC, XBOne and PS4. Only 360 and PS3 have the bugged version.

We’re checking with the dev team on the change list. The team had to make some last minute changes to the PC patch.
Fixes/updates include Traditional Chinese text localization support and bug fix for the Inflection ability. Equipping Inflection normally halves the severity of wounds you sustain whilst intoning spells, but it appears a bug was introduced in the Xbox 360/PS3 where it doubled the damage instead.
In any case, we’ll post a patch note once we have all he details. Stay tuned Arisens!

Purely from a mentality point of view. Not comparing the areas. Later game perhaps.

Which is how you'll spend 80% of your time with DD :)
But the areas are intrinsically tied into that. When a game offers you a unique mechanics set you have to take some time to get used to, and then immediately demands apt usage of them it forces you as the player to adapt to these new mechanics quickly or not progress the game. Even if the mechanics are quirky and esoteric, the immediacy at which the game demands you to pick them up makes the learning curve substantially lower in real time.

I'm sure if fromsoft wanted to make the game drag out a 4 hour slow start using the mechanics set they have they easily could have, but they didn't and the game is better for it.

I couldn't get into this game either. Still have it on my Steam account. Perhaps one of these days when I'm bored, I'll pick it up again.

You know you're living in 2017 when you see a 1gb patch and think "Gee that's tiny, must be just a few bug fixes".

I wish I could 'get' this game.
Everyone loves it but I played a couple of hours and it didn't seem fun at all.
Everything seemed a bit janky and the graphics were nothing to write home about .

My personnal tips for trying to get into any new game is,never ever had any short of 'expectation'...just go blindly and dont think much about it

It will feel different if you expecting it will be something else
Things will end up everything 'looks different' to you...the perspective will be different

Also, better give it atleast past first escort mission..if you cant play due to graphics, remember original skyrim was worse..also even if you have capable pc,there graphics mod available and you can downsample the game

I love this game, but if I had stopped at 2 hours in and not continued on I would have disliked it.

You really need to get to the main city before you even get a glimpse of the real game. Opening up the advanced classes (sorcerer, mystic knight, and magic archer are AMAZING!), diving into the pawn system, actually getting to see the open world and do some quests...

But by far the best is the post-game stuff and the expansion BBI. They really turn the game from enjoyable into must-play!

I hope (but doubt) they fixed that texture pop-in bug whilst switching between armor/outfit previews. Not a huge issue, but it was quite jarring when during Fashion's Dogma.

Does this break any mods?

Apparently it broke Duckroll. :D

Also,2 hours!?
That's how long I spent in the most amazing character creator ever made, then I had to restart the game since I didn't like how my main looked in the 8n game cinema.

Rinse and repeat with my pawn.

Freaking love DDDA.

When I first played the demo on PS3 (which was the intro level with the pre-made character you go through in the main game), I didn't think much of it. I played it a few more times when the Dark Arisen version was released, then it clicked. I played the hell out it, finishing the end game content. I also did it all again when the excellent PC port was released, with no regrets for my 300+ hours (total).

Despite what others seem to be saying, for me it's the combat that does it. I like exploring areas and whatnot, but make no mistake it's the combat (both with large and small enemies) that kept me playing so long. Maybe you need to experiment with classes to find what's best for you. There's 9 to choose from when you hit the main city, you should be able to find something

Side note: I never felt that the game was janky. Strange.
