There's currently a bug in the game related to how the input boxes for character and pawn names handles default keybindings.
When editing your character or pawn, you will be forced to visit another screen to enter the name of that character or pawn. It will receive input from your keyboard, but the backspace button is tied to both "delete last letter entered into input field" and "go back to the previous screen". So if you enter in a letter you don't want in your name, hitting backspace will both delete that letter, and back you out of the character naming screen. This would be fine if not for the fact that the game will also assume your character is done and named, so if you accidentally back out of the screen leaving the field blank, it will default your character name to one of the preset names.
Basically, if you're going to mess up the name on either your character or your pawn, don't mess up the first letter, because if you do, you'll have to start the game over again
