I'm emotional right now. This is like the only IP I care about in Capcom and my favorite action-rpg combat wise. So much potential. I don't trust Capcom to bring it to the West until Deep Down gets a chance to sign and no way in hell is Sony helping in bringing it over.
Abandon all hope ye who Woof here.
I know, it's such a shame he's leaving Capcom. Not Itsuno on this project can only mean one thing.............
Aren't FTP games proned to tanking? They aren't easy to do well. Its as we suspected. Capcom are even more cautious now with AAA development than ever before. So we just get less games, or this kind of thing unless they are funded and supported by Sony or MS..
DRAGON'S DOGMA
Please say he is leaving for Platinum.I know, it's such a shame he's leaving Capcom.
Please say he is leaving for Platinum.
I'm so conflicted about this :\ I'm not a fan of online-only games as I'm more of a single-player RPG guy, but I also adored my time with Dragon's Dogma and would love to see Capcom do something that moves the IP forward. Ugh... like all things, time will tell if this was a smart move or not. F2P is a really unfortunate move though, imo.
I'll play it with you and we can never talk to each other and pretend we are just really good NPCs.
Is it confirmed Sony are assisting capcom with this game?
Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono also adds that the games development is benefiting from the cooperation of Sony Computer Entertainment.
Development started with the basic desire of taking Dragon’s Dogma and making it playable in an online environment.
The game couldn’t be made in tandem with Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen and was therefore pushed back.
Capcom contemplated a monthly fee, but chose freeo-to-play in the end in an attempt to get more players to try it out.
Though paid items are present, the game will still feel like a proper Dragon’s Dogma game.
The story is completely new and there are no character connections. (Editor’s note: We take it this means no character connections to the previous game.)
The game world will initially be the size of what players have come to expect from previous games, but will expand over time to be three times larger in scope.
Parties are formed in the lobby, after which players depart for the field.
An effort has been made to emphasize the strengths and traits of individual classes, but it’s not balanced so strictly that players need to be super meticulous about party makeup.

Is that what we call "money hats" now?Is it confirmed Sony are assisting capcom with this game?
I was just thinking, what if Capcom enables "emotes" like the gestures in Dark Souls.
You can join someone's game and spam "They hate fire!"
A little surprised by such a negative reaction to this. Well, I understand the F2P bit I guess. Aside from that though, this is a new Dragon's Dogma with a new story, areas, and you now have other people playing with you, which is what I saw a lot of people saying would be good to have a while back reading the GAF threads. It's not the same thing as the original obviously (since that was an offline RPG), and more of an evolution, but I got the feeling from GAF impressions, that most people loved the combat, exploration, and monster fighting aspect of the game rather than anything else like the story.
If they deliver on that aspect, ignoring the F2P, would this really be that bad for fans?

I don't really care ththough I have both consoles, so if it's good I will be playing it anyway. But wow am I the only one witnessing some heavy case of double standards here? If this game was a WiiU or Xbox One exclusive the whole internet would be rioting.
Let's not forget that MS helped them fund Dead Rising 3 and Sony is funding the USF4 PS4 port. So, to recap on Capcom:
1.) Resident Evil Revelations 2 is a cross-gen digital episodic game with microtransactions.
2.) Their star new IP - Deep Down - is an f2p game with randomly generated dungeons.
3.) The return of Dragon's Dogma is an f2p online game that's cross-gen between PS3/PS4/PC.
4.) Street Fighter V is rumored to be a base game with a League of Legends style business model after that.
5.) Breath of Fire 6 is a phone/tablet/PC MMO type game.
This is awesome news
This is an actual sequel, and much better than a remaster or what have you.
If they had just put a 2 at the end of it I think the reactions in this thread would look a lot different

Please god don't let Capcom fuck this up the way they do
That seems fine overall to be honest. They've just become astonishingly risk averse since they notice their brands are largely going no where but down and they're unable to create any new ones.Sure, if you want to ignore Capcom's financial status and everything they've done in the last year and a half.

Day/Night cycle was incredible. Night time actually meant something.
Oh baby. Hope there is more variety in the locations now and please for the love of everything that is holy please make the Warrior class an actual warrior. Getting out damaged by an assassin -___-

I doubt it. DD already implemented online functionality as a foundation for their single-player experience - we already know a DD game is going to be "online". That's a given.
It's what putting "online" is a game's title implies nowadays. F2P, microtransactions, etc. And what did we get? People are right to be wary. That said I want this to be good. If they can limit microtransactions to cosmetic stuff I'd be fine with it. I just highly doubt that'll be the case.
Not Itsuno on this project can only mean one thing.............
Assassins almost always out-DPS warriors in every game that features both.
