Dreamcast had the best intro of all time.

I love it, but Gamecube's is and will always be perfect.

It perfectly encapuslates the system and its philosphy, as well as what it became.

It also has tons of easter eggs, all of which reference aspects of nintendo or gaming history or philisophy. That shit ought to be in the Louvre.

Dreamcast's intro is the best, yes. It has something that every other console's intro lacks. I dare not say soul, but something very, very close to it.

I can never gush enough about the Dreamcast. I wish the Sega of that era would come back and put out a Dreamcast 2. ;__;

Anyway, yeah, the intro's fantastic. Gamecube, PSX and PS2 are close runner-ups.

The PSX startup is probably the "best" in a vacuum, but it does not connect with the actual system as the gamecube startup does.

Man, Sega really did have some amazing startup screens huh? I always thought it was cool that each region of the Sega CD and Dreamcast had a different startup. >.>;

Growing up with no consoles, I feel nothing hearing the Dreamcast sound or anything else.

Now, this or this? Every time. The best part is that I can actually make that the sound on my computers right now and relive the glory days. :D

I'm going to have to agree with the people saying PS1. The first time I ever turned it on at a friends house was one of those gaming moments that has stuck with me since. Shivers down my spine. I only owned a N64 at the time and never played a PS1. I fell in love. I remember I played the demo of some rally game. I wish I could remember what it was.

Nah GameCube is pretty clever, sounds nice and has the famicom disk easter egg (in the menu)

on a side note: 3DO screensaver/visualizer *drool*

The first time I heard the PS1 intro I didn't know what to think. I still have no idea what to think, 12 years later. It's weird, reminds me of some cheesy action mystery flick, where the setting is a pyramid in ancient Egypt. Dumb.
Nostalgia makes it ok. I guess.

GBA ftw for the most part.

Try booting your PS1 with a 5.1 surround sound, you'll hear hidden sounds.

Might not be exactly true to the point of the thread...but I'll just leave this here.

Saturn, Playstation, and DC's were all really good. Saturn's stupid little flying spaceship that flew around whe you played music was lame though.

Not really a Nintendo fan, but I really loved the GameCube's boot up. It always made me smile. =p But yeah...the Dreamcast was one of my favorites.

The DC was always relaxing. PSone was as well.

However, with GCN, NeoGeo, Sega CD, I felt like I was going to actually play a game. Both good.

3DO wasn't too bad. If you're sitting waiting around, it might as well be asteroids coming at you.

GCN>Dreamcast>Saturn>PS2>Capcom intro for PSX/Saturn>>>>>>PSX

There is nostalgia in the PSX opening, but while the sounds are great, the intro itself is terrible.
Yep, and the absolutely awful PS1 logo didn't even have an animation.

Mine:
Konami SNES intro. Then Neo Geo and GCN.

PS1 by a mile, it's so bold and powerful. It's like the console knew how awesome it was, makes the rest sound timid and unsure of themselves.

Wtf people liked the ps1 startup ? It took so fucking long and was so static. I do like the sound but thats not enough for it to win.

+1 gba .
Fast , cool sound and an evolution of original gb.

Gotta agree, i love the damn DC intro, i will say i also like the OG xbox 360 intro.
