If I purchase Early Access will I get access to the full game at launch?
Yes! If you purchase Early Access, you will not need to pay again when Dreams launches in full.

Europe: https://beta.software.eu.playstation.com/en-gb/dreams

At Mm, we love to give players a way to be a part of the games we make. With Dreams, our ambition from the start was to put all the tools needed to make games in one accessible package – and to allow players to make their creative mark on the world from their living room. We want the community to be able to create in a way that is fun, fast and expressive and see where they take it next.

During our Beta we saw players create such an incredible range of things. Clever puzzle platformers, moody first-person adventures, gorgeous interactive paintings, super charming movies and so many other amazing things. Even though it’s what we’d hoped for – we had no idea how ingenious and wonderful the results would be (and our eyes may have watered a little).

So, first off we just want to say thank you to everyone who participated in the Beta and for all the wonderful creations you made.

As you may know, our small team has been working on Dreams for a long time. Beta was a very important step for us – it confirmed our tool set is ready for the community – but we still have more work to be done in other areas. Every game developer wants their game to be perfect – and we are no different. We have so many ambitions for Dreams and the beta reminded us that Dreams only truly comes to life in the hands of you all – the community.

So we scratched our chins and tried to figure out the best way to put the game in the hands of our most enthusiastic dreamers and allow us to continue crafting and polishing it for everyone.

And… we have decided to go live and release Dreams into Early Access on PlayStation 4 this spring! OMG, IT’S HAPPENING!

What is Creator Early Access?

Early Access won’t have everything that the full version of Dreams will, but you’ll get 100% of the same Dreams tools that we have used every day at MM to make our content. As well as fun, deep interactive tutorials catering for all skill sets and levels and Mm-crafted arcade games ready to play and remix. If you joined us during the beta period and published your assets, you’ll also have your beta creations to return to. Along the way, we’ll be adding more features, tutorials, arcade levels and assets during the Early Access period as we build towards the full slate of launch content.

Just like with LittleBigPlanet, we have always planned to evolve Dreams with the community and this is just the start. We’ll use Early Access to help us prioritize all the awesome stuff we’re already working on and get feedback as player needs develop and evolve. With refinements, bug fixes and brand new features on the way, we are kicking off the live service side of Dreams so the community can get their first look at how we’ll continue to support the game.

In Early Access, you can stream, entertain, teach, collaborate and share to your heart’s content.

Who is Early Access for?

Early Access is for creators who want to be part of the Dreams experience from the beginning. People who will create, play others creations, get involved in the social features of Dreams and give us feedback. If you are a creator, this is definitely for you. The Dreamiverse needs curators, tastemakers, and testers – this is a great opportunity to carve out your niche. The most important thing is to know that the Dreamiverse is going to form around you, so if that gets you excited, Early Access is for you. If you participated in the beta and felt like Dreams wasn’t fully featured enough for you yet, or you wanted more Media Molecule game content, then Early Access might not be for you. We’re working on all those things during this period so that you have everything you need on your first day in the Dreamiverse.
Dreams Early Access is a strictly limited release to ensure that we have a chance to listen to all of you, so be sure to snag your copy as soon as you can!
Dreams Early Access will be available digitally through the PlayStation Store this spring, priced at $29.99 MSRP (+ applicable tax) in the US and $39.99 MSRP (+ applicable tax) in Canada.

We are very excited about going live this spring and updating you on all the magic happening in Mm Towers.

If you want to be the first to get notified on the Early Access live date, sign up here for updates.

Thank you in advance to everyone who will be coming on this journey with us.

I think this is fair. The reason they're selling early access at such a high cost (presumably half the cost of the game at release), is because they really only want this for the enthusiasts as it appears they're looking to form some type of dialogue with MM and the Dreams creators. If you sold it for 5 or 10 bucks everyone would buy it and not realize exactly what was going on or see the potential, and assume the final product will be like so. This ensures pretty much the hardcore crowd jumps in or at the lease casuals who feel strongly enough to spend $30. It also ensures no one who really wants in is locked out by not having a MM account or other things that can lock you out of a closed beta.

But when is the actual release? This is pretty disappointing, so if I want this I buy it but if I want the full game, then what?; I can get it digitally for a reduced price or will I still have to pay full price? But then I'd rather go for physical so I guess no matter the options there, if I want in on this I'll have to double dip to some extent whatever the case. Sucks.

They should have just had a free open beta till release. All this is going to do is dilute the player base by confusing the hell out of your average Joe players who'll have a hard time understanding why the game is out in the spring but out again later with more content and seemingly yet another price tag for that. This isn't what Early Access is meant to mean.

So will the early access release update to the full release later or do we need to purchase at full price once the game releases? Thanks and I know it's a noob question :)

Hmmm. Not sure how to feel.
There is no real date. This could be the 20st of June, still spring...

And you're still not guaranteed to get in ... You just have to grab it immediately when it launches, but when? I don't like that either. If I don't get in then my channel dies while others who managed to get in can reap the benefits for their channels. Not happy with that situation at all.

Hope I get in this time.. but yea it sucks a little if it’s not early access for everyone who want to get in..

As a playstation enthusiast, I find this to be sketchy. I don't like early access and never will. Either keep the beta exclusively free for creators or wait til the full game is polished and ready to be released.

This is yet another P.R. fiasco.
There's no real date.
We don't know if we'll get the full game with this price.
We don't know if this will be a timed early access.
And the icing on the cake :

So basically this will be worst than the beta, but you'll have to pay.

I wish it would be a bit cheaper, but it's a clever move. Generate content AND word of mouth before the official single player campaign is even out.

Why don't they open up Early Access to those who were in the beta?

Just allow us to log in again.

Thinks mods influence posters politics. Promoted to QAnon Editor.
Good idea, let creators create and have content for players.

This is a quote from another site claiming MM said on Discord you do indeed get the full game. I can't confirm this right now though...

"Media Molecule answered on Discord and said anyone who buys the early access version for $30 will get the full game."

I mean, seriously, come on now:

How do I get access?

Keep your eyes peeled for a release date onto the PSN Store. You will be able to purchase it if you get in on time.

Wait, so if i buy into early access when it's available for $30, I won't have to pay ANYTHING for the game when it's fully released? Or am I understanding you wrong

This is what I hate about this.
Hopefully they let us know by mail well ahead of time, so I can already put money in my Store wallet, so I can buy it immediately once it goes live.

Have you signed up for info on the Early Access? Links are in the OP for US and Europe.

Well slap my ass and call me Sally.

That should probably be in the OP. If it is already in there, I'd bold it.

Yes, even sign up a second time using your EU link, just to be safe.

I really want to work on my projects again. The beta ended the moment I started to get the hang of it...

Very well then. If I can get it, I guess I'll go physical for the inevitable PS5 version.

Ok, so if you win the lottery after signing up, your prize is paying them $30 to continue using the beta tools? I guess they want to avoid a lot of people getting the game for half off who might not use the creator? Makes sense, but this is still so strange.

Wait, you will not need to pay again? So the full retail game is thirty dollars? That's crazy.

pretty much all i needed to hear, to buy into the early access. still its pretty absurd that they are paywalling beta 2.0. but i think they did it to filter out non hardcore interested creators. as people who are willing to invest and fiend for the early access have a much higher chance of putting out quality content and developing a community.

wonder if youll get access to it on ps5 as well or need to rebuy.

I'm guessing the full retail game will be more than 30$, just this base creator mode wont be included if you already have purchased it.

The "you will not need to pay again" seems quite definitive to me. Could really blow up in their face later if that's not actually the case.

I guess this is their way of getting the most serious creators to build a ton of quality content so that when the full game releases, causal players will have professional levels done by MediaMolecule and the best of the top creators all ready at once.

Considering that Sony & ND sort of had to take the hit with the UC4 season pass including The Lost Legacy before they decided that it would be pretty much a games worth of content and wanted to ship it alone, forcing them to honor the season pass to people who got it in time I'd assume they won't back out on this. Especially when you see how careful they're being with how many people they let in.

yeah, its definitely limited to be a damage control tactic.

let millions in with not enough content for the majority to play and have those millions all struggling to learn the controls and boom you have a bomba on your hands

The only problem here is it being limited access. This is absolutely the perfect way of doing Dreams.
This reads oddly. The problem is limited access, but its the perfect way to do this.

Sarcasm i suppose, but this is not an immediate case atleast for me :p

What I mean is, this is the best option for them to curate content, appease the creators early on while at the same time gathering well made content to help sell the full game at launch. The limited part is a little annoying though ...

I LOVE the idea of Early Access and I'm happy Sony is finally allowing the Playstation brand get to be apart of that action. MS been reaping benefits for allowing early access.
