DriveClub PS+ Edition Has Been M.I.A. For 100 Days

It was one of many demos available on the system. When I walked up to the machine, it was in the middle of playing an indie platformer that I hadn't heard of (Axiom Verge I think it was called?) and then I hit the 'home' button and scrolled through all the demos. DC was on there, so I selected it and then it gave me an option of a couple of races with a couple of cars I believe. I did a race with a ferrari on some track.

So yeah, they should at least release that. It was enough of a demo to give me a taste for the handling and whatnot.

Handling is a cross between ridge racer and need for speed.....some cars feel great while others feel like they are on a stick and the track is being moved around it....the cars do not have a weighty feel to them......when you bump into someone or hit a barrier you simply bounce off like a dodgem car...coming from a pc sim racing background if you want a console game with the best driving physics get forza....while not perfect its the best experience on a console in terms of driving.

The game is also missing some pretty basic features ..like a replay camera

I cant think of a driving sim game that did not have a replay camera in it....should of been one of the first things they put in

Its clear they are patching things into this game but at the moment its a pretty tech demo
trying to disguise itself as a driving sim.

Because who honestly gives a shit? I bought it on sale and regret nothing. I wish they had never promised it so this wouldn't even be a thing. Companies like Ubisoft and 343 are doing much worse than Sony at the moment. The more important part to me is that the people who bought the game are their priority and that seems to be the case.

DC is not a sim. Seems like the poster you quoted expected it to be one. If you're looking for GAF opinions about the game before making a purchase you should go to the OT. Seems like the overall majority like the game and consider it good.

I'm still waiting to try the Plus version before I buy it. Maybe if it gets a really good discount.

It's not that I need a sim, but what he's describing about how some cars handle throws me. I'd still give the Plus version a go if they ever decided to release it, but well...

Some of the best and most rewarding handling I've experienced in a while, driving line and approach on every track and corner is important.

Out of the umpteen posts about this game on Neogaf you choose a post that's extremely negative and obviously exaggerated. Seems like you were just looking for validation on not buying the game in the first place.

I mean, you can get bent out of shape with assumptions if you want, doesn't make you right. I've seen talk of this game run the gamut on plenty of sites. Not being able to play it myself, I don't have a clear idea. My interest has all but disappeared, since I was looking forward to trying it out quite a while ago. Forza is more my type of game control wise, but I was plenty willing to give this a shot. Still am if they'd ever give up the Plus version.

You've just reiterated my point. You've lost interest in the game and now just cherry picked a post that's borders on trolling and said it's what you "needed to hear". I don't care if you buy the game or not, but you never really gave the game a chance in the first place if you're passing on it based on that post.

Whatever, Like I said, I still want to try it. It doesn't sound like my type of racer handling wise, but we'll see.
 
Since the justification for the delay has been that they won't release it until the main game is working as it should, it's been a long wait for this version.

I have spent considerable amount of time playing this game....i love racing titles

As for the pgr vs driveclub

Pgr the cars actually feel like they slide on the track...drive club most of the cars feel like they are spinning on the axis of the car model and the effect of a car driving on a road is either really good or really shitty depending on the car

It almost feels like they spent a shitload of time tweaking the supercars to feel right but forgot about the rest....some of the earlier level cars are laughable with their handling models

I'm guessing this will just eventually be a free PS+ game...once the user base falls to a small enough level. Is that asking too much?
 
It's why I haven't bought the game and won't buy it. By the time it comes out, I'll probably be too busy with FM6 anyways.

Tis a shame :/ Loved Evolution for MS.
 
Started playing DC yesterday and it's already driven me crazy like twice. The fact that computer cars will sometimes slam into me and I get punished is just infuriating.

Also, I can't drift in this game to save my life. 1/10 drifts go the way I plan them to.

And time trials are just not my cup of tea in racing games. I will chase a lap time in Forza or GT because the realism is more rewarding to me, especially in a tuned car. Driveclub, I just spin out from something due to my unfamiliarity with the tracks, sigh, and quit. I don't feel like spending 3+ minutes per try for a single event.

I've had some fun with the game but it's definitely not doing it for me so far. I will concede that I'm a big Forza fan and would tend to align with those games. This game just feels like its somewhere between NFS and Forza and I wish it would just pick one. I was not a fan of Grid, either, for what it's worth.

This game just feels like Grid with less cities and more nature.

Yea. The game really isnt good aside from the graphics.
 
I don't get people who are upset to those who are upset about the absence of the PS+ version.

It is something that they marketed, they advertised, they promised, and yet when they failed to deliver it somehow people are upset to those that are upset by that failure?

What kind of logic is that? Sure, you may like the game and thus feels it seems like a duty for you to defend it for any perceived slight against it, but the situation is really simple and straightforward.

The challenge model with invites tied to the club system ?

I mean i get it , you can be disapointed in a game , point something that annoy you , on the driving model or the AI ..nothing is perfect heck it's tweaked according to the community feedback ...but to claim that above ..it just show how low some of the posts i've read in this thread have gotten. Are most of you even Aware of what you're talking about ?

And for god sake , instead of answering like this , tell him the truth, there are penalities when you hit stuff ... from the edges of the track to other racers , to trying to cut corners... just waht was the point of your post again ?

I bought the game and I regret it. I was expecting it to be really arcadey but it's a bit too far in that direction for my liking. I'll probably have to buy an Xbone and get Forza to scratch my racing itch. I only wish I bought a physical copy now so I could sell it.

But never earned a single trophy while playing it? There are some very easy trophies you should have earned just by playing it for a few minutes, and many more if you "spent a considerable amount playing."

Your PSN is SEMPERFID, and there is nothing Driveclub at all... Even if you have never earned a trophy, it still shows the game in your trophy list... For Example, Secret Ponchos in my trophies...

And yet, in a thread specifically directed to air grievances about the lack of PS+ edition, like this one, people that are upset by it are categorized as whiny and droves of people are so quick to point out that the game is so marvelous that all of those whiny people should just buy the game anyways, which is really irrelevant to the matter.

The braking physics are too arcadey for me. All cars have extreme ABS.

Throttle control? It's pretty unnecessary in this game. You can floor it straight out of a corner because the cars are incredibly grippy. If you do manage to lose grip going around a corner cars behave weirdly though.

The AI is quite simple too and not up to par with what I'm used to. I could go on.

Not sure how this is funny since this tread has devolved in a driveclub bitching thread , instead of bitching about the lack of the ps+ edition.

Not that it matters much since at least the OT is safe from this...
 
Man I really love how Driveclub was even from the start, but there's no doubt the changes have made it one of the better races I've played. Still, it's really inexcusable at this point they don't have the PS+ edition. This isn't 1999. If you need to literally wait six months past release date to release something you promised before the console even released for a game that was ALREADY delayed a whole year, something is terribly, dramatically wrong. I don't know what their excuse is frankly. It suggests sheer incompetence with regard to their approach to net infrastructure and design.

Well it's weird because Forza Horizon 2 is indisputably far more arcadey than Driveclub, and Forza Motorspot is a sim racer. So if you don't like simcade games like Driveclub, or games with a non-realistic (read: arcade) approach to vehicle physics and mechanics, one would question why you thought Forza Horizon 2 was a suitable replacement for it or why you got DC at all if you were looking for a sim like Motorsport (instead, Project Cars or Gran Turismo would go in that slot for PlayStation 4).

I don't think it's a troll post, but it was hard to follow how you arrived at your internal logic considering.

Driveclub has phenomenal mechanics for the simcade genre, some of the best I've ever experienced in the sub-category of simcade racing genre, and its superlative track design and visuals really make it one of the better racers in the past decade. But if you're not into these types of racing games, it's just odd how you stated your conclusion :P

I'm also not sure what you mean by "The AI is quite simple", because I can't imagine how one would describe that about Driveclub. Could you expand on that point?

I was assuming, since he said he put a significant amount of time into DriveClub, he probably owned it . His "impressions" didn't seem like he really played it at all, so I was trying to see how much significant progress he made into the game. However, I cannot disagree with you. I assume he will just say he put a significant amount of time into the game on someone else's system. ;)
 
Any dates yet? They probably gave up on getting more servers and waiting until the community dies out before the ps+ version.

On principal I wont touch this game until the ps+ version comes out.

Yeah, we know something is/was terribly, dramatically wrong. The netcode. We know they know that's what's wrong. That's why they're holding off, because of the load it would cause on the servers. Don't think they've ever been shy about why the PS+ version hasn't been released yet.
