I had no idea what the hell I was doing the first time I played Meteos, but now it's nothing but a huge timesink of super awesomeness.
Same here. I'm still trying to figure it out, as I just got it a week ago.

I got it 2 days ago and I feel like a tard playing it,havent got the game down at all.

Still its f-ing cool and once I get the hang of it,it will be crack.

Playing Lost Magic and Mario at the moment. Mario is excellent. Lost Magic is fun, but f**k me it gets hard quick - either that or my reflexes with the stylus are getting slower.

Quick question: When you transfer your Nintendo WFC ID and settings from the DS to a DSL, do you have to do it with EACH GAME you've ever taken online? Or will doing it once, with any game, transfer ALL of your data over?

Anything (such as friend codes) lost in the transfer?

You just have to do it once. This tranfers the hardware ID that each game cartridge (and the friend codes contained within) is tied to.

Thank you BuddyC! Wasn't looking forward to doing this 6 or so times. Brilliant. At least ONE thing about the WFC is kinda easy and convenient!

I got it a few days ago. I love it, I'm getting better, but I probably don't understand it yet. Still, awesome, addicting puzzler and awesome music!!

My DS essentials...

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
New Super Mario Bros.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Mario Kart

You can't go wrong with these games.

i am pretty new to the whole DS world (and neogaf too, hi) but here are my current obsessions with my DS Lite that i just got this past week.

Pac-Pix (awesome game where you draw pacman and he comes to life)
Mario Kart (obvious pick)
New Super Mario Bros (another obvious pick, great game)
Brain Age/Big Brain Academy (both of these games have their perks, BA being daily training and sudoku, and BBA being more quirky and mini-game-esque)
Polarium (cool puzzle game where you draw lines over b&w tiles which invert in color, making a horizontal line all the same color eliminates it ala tetris style. very addictive and challenging at times)

i still need to get my hands on Meteos, i hear good things.

Just bought my DS Lite yesterday with New SMB. Pretty impressed with the screen , the look and feel, and the weight. The old one could be used to anchor container ships at sea.

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow > all other DS games

ok so I only have new mario and castlevania so far... but castlevania is rocking my face off.

:)

We need an official DSL WiFi Game Set-Up thread. I want to get some Mario Kart/Metroid Hunters/Tetris/etc games in.

Make it happen Amirox, or Demi. I'm too lazy.

If this is done, I will be forced to go out and buy Mario Kart immediately.

I just got Sonic Rush... I'm really liking it. I've always been of fan of the really fast Sonic levels and not so much the platforming. Great shit! I still hate Tails though. :lol

Anyone interested?

Why not? But I'm too weaksauce for Metroid.

I bought Tetris DS with my DSlite yesterday and I'm itching for some matches on wifi

Don't get too good at it cuz I suck. I'm down for some Tetris and Mario Kart tonight as well.

I have an odd question. I sold my old DS and recently got a DS Lite. It's definitely awesome! I did however pick up on something that started irking me. I'm playing some GBA games on the Lite and I noticed the blurring. I'm not sure if it's due to the brighter screen that I am now noticing it, but I didn't really play GBA games on my old DS. Do the GBA games blur on the old DS also or is this something that is common with the DS Lite? I am picky...so this stuff irks me just like the Gameboy Player irked me due to the refresh rate being different which caused the games to appear to be losing a frame or two every now and then.

DS Lite was my first DS ever. Picked up:

Brain Age
NSMB
Mario Kart DS
Castlevania DoS
Meteos

Meteos is getting the most playtime, followed by Mario Kart.

I'll probably pick up Metroid, Tetris DS, and Animal Crossing next week at the TRU B2G1 free sale.

I got my First DS this mornin' (LITE) and i got NSMB and i am having a blast, i can't put the damn thing down!

I would start a new thread for this, but we already have a million DS threads.

Is there a site where I can locate DS Download Stations in the UK? The Nintendo Europe site makes no mention of them, and other than a few sections in the official Nintendo Magazine I've heard nothing about them in the UK, other than the fact they exist.

I'm super curious. I'm playing NSMB and when I scroll the map, it's super blurry. I'm almost positive this didn't happen on the old DS. Is my DS Lite defective or is this a new "feature" of the DS Lite?

2 games I haven't really seen mentioned so far and are must buys:

Magnetica

Metroid Pinball

Both are addicting as HELL and, look gorgeous on the Lite and offer fantastic single card multiplay, especially Metroid Pinball...Its brilliant.

I'm new to the DS scene and what are some of the must get games coming out later this year. So far I have

Yoshi's Island 2
Elite Beat Agents
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
FFIII
LOZ: Phantom Hourglass

holy cow! are you for real? why 2 versions of pokemon, i'm sure you can trade with us.

For real. And I own every single US released Pokemon RPG to date (and most of the spinoffs):
Pokemons:
Blue
Red
Yellow
Gold
Silver
Crystal
Ruby
Sapphire
FireRed
LeafGreen
Emerald
Stadium
Stadium 2
Colosseum (+ Bonus Disc)
Colosseum XS
Box Ruby & Sapphire
Snap
Puzzle League
Puzzle Challenge
Trozei
Pinball
Pinball Ruby & Sapphire
Trading Card Game

I think the only ones I don't own are Dash, Channel, and Hey You Pikachu.

You'll be damn sure that once I get Diamond and Pearl I'll be trading over WiFi, should it have such a mechanic.

It's a new "feature." I noticed it immediately when I started playing NSMB on my Lite. I guess it's the price you pay for the better colors and brighter screens... I suppose this is the same problem that the GBA Micro and the GBA SP2 screens suffer from as well, which had something to do with the screens having a crappier refresh rate.

Spread the word!

Well, gonna try to get the Lite replaced this week since there are none in stock in any of the Best Buys around me. I compared it to my friend's DS Lite and his doesn't blur. Could be a defect on some of the DS Lites, but who knows.

No, that's not just you - I'm STILL playing LM from when it first game out, and not because I overtly enjoy it - simply beacuse I find it unbelievably difficult. I haven't beaten a fight on the first try since the initial battles. I mean, this game is unforgiving! You have to micromanage so much, if you don't do everything precisely right from the beginning - including painstakingly create each path for your monsters - you are just screwed.

I'm on the
Leonard
fight right now. He's tough because you only have 5 minutes. Anyone know how far I am in the game and how much longer I have to go? I mean, I find the game fun - but man, the sequal needs some control fixes.

LostMagic... how I wanted to love that game. Make the actual battles more difficult (from a strategic standpoint AND base difficulty standpoint) and remove the timer, and you've have an AMAZING real-time SRPG.

As it stands, it's a failure, IMHO. What a shame.

Hell, I could understand having certain, major-event missions timed, but this game just ground me into defeat.

Did you end up beating it?
Is it worth all this frustration? I feel compelled to go on out of stubborness more than anything. But I actually do enjoy it for the most part.

And how is online? I haven't tried it yet because I said to myself I wanted to beat it first, but I'll go a round or two with you once I get my Lite.

No, not at all. The game defeated me. I expected to have to "waste" some time playing through the missions for recognaissance purposes, in order to formulate a strategy to win. But it got to the point where I was wasting multiple attempts 'refining' technique.

And it was not satisfying in a puzzley sense, at all. Just a chore trying to figure out tricks and exploits to shave off a second here, a second there. Finally, I said "eff it" and picked a more fun set of games, namely NSMB, MPH, PWAA, and Ouendan.

As for online, I only briefly fiddled with it. The "free duel" mode is rather pointless, since it uses stock characters and armies. The real duel, which loads your character and army from one of your save files, is more the real deal, and you even get exp and rewards for winning. But when, for my first match, my level 14 character was matched against a LEVEL 40 character... I pretty much gave up on that mode too. None of my friends own the game, or intend on owning it, and LM didn't really take off here to the degree where I stood a chance at playing with people my level.

I don't see myself going back to it. I'm not that portable-RPG-starved, and the DS is slated to get some AMAZING RPG and hybrid-RPG content starting in August and continuing rather steadily through the end of the year (and beyond!)

It's going to be my DS game of the year by a landslide unless the Mana curse is vanquished or something (though I did like Legend of Mana more than most).
