DS Lite Game Recommendations

Meteos practically sold me on a DS when I was at first sceptical. It was some videos on youtube of some awesome player and it just looked so awesome, fresh and fun.

Mario Kart might look similar, but it doesnt feel it. I got tired of the formula with the N64 one, ddnt even touch the GC one, but the DS one is like wow - back it its best and more. The SNES feel combined with 3D tracks and a lot less stupid super speed cheating.

Trauma Center is awesome, I'm on about chapter 3 already and it hasn't been that hard :P But I think watching videos of it on youtube gave me some "cheats" to make it easier, like spamming the green jelly to improve vitality. Great game though.

Is it too late to get Mario Kart DS? I heard it takes ages to find someone to challenge over Wifi Connection and that it's fill with snakers which isn't fun. Also with Diddy Kong Racing coming out, should I just wait for that?

Yes! Man, I used to play it everyday but I let it go for a few days, then weeks and then MONTHS. Now I'm afraid to go back to my town without setting the date back for a bit and replaying to catch up and avoid weeds and people moving out. Weaksauce, I know but I had my town in such pristine condition.

QFT. I was like a month behind, and then decided "**** it, let's ff back to present time". And get this - no one moved out! :D

You can easily find someone to play through Wifi. About the snakers it is truth, but if you know people online who have the game you can race them exchanging the friend codes, so it'll make the things better. Mario Kart DS is one of the best Mario Karts ever. Lots of Cups to play through, classic tracks, from the Snes,GBA , N64 & GC versions plus lots of new ones.

Got my DS lite two days ago and have just ordered Astro Boy of Play.com for £9.99...

...I owned a GBA but never played it much but now is the time to play all it greatest hits :D

GBA and DS is pretty much all you need for your portable needs. There's always something to play on either.

Tired of playing New Super Mario Bros? Fire up Tales of Phantasia (or final fantasy)!

I pretty much agree with you but stuff like LocoRoco (bought it friday with my DSlite) and Exit on PSP are entertaining as well

If anyone's still having a hard time hunting down Castlevania DS, give Toys R Us a shot.

There were at least 10 copies at my store. (nobody else even had a single copy)

I got my DS lite today :D I got it from Best Buy. It has been sold out for the past 4 or five days in my area. So, I am relieved that I found one.

I got Tetris DS, Brain Age, and NSMB.

I can't find Phoenix Wright!!! Do you guys know if stores like Toys r us might have them???
I also got a crappy DS lite case. It is very crappy and I am going to return it. It has that cheap plastic thing that lets you play your DS lite when it is in the case.

Trying to beat the Dawn of Sorrow for the first time on Julius Mode on the DSlite. It's pretty tough, no potions to get you through the boss fights.

The single most praised PSP game is also the one that would be most at home on the DS.

Just putting it out there...

I gave up in Julius Mode. I got stuck in
The Abyss, fighting the locust conducter boss. Death was such a bitch

Yeah totally, both those guys took me forever to take down. I hate level grinding so I just keep dying until I beat them. :lol

Oh shit, I didn't think it was a sequel because it said "4 new cases" and some other added features... So the sequel will only have like 4 stages/levels? How many did the original have?

Five, well, kinda. The original GBA title had four cases, and a fifth was added on to the DS version.

Oh I see... Is the original really worth hunting even if I'm not sure I'll even like the game, of shall I just skip it and wait for the sequel?

Well, I'm a huge fan of the original, but it seems to be a very "love it or hate it" kind of game. Given your situation after the DS Lite and customs, I'd say that if you happen to run across the original for a good price, go ahead and give it a try. Otherwise, just wait out until the sequel, and if you dig it, then go back and hunt down the first. Ideally, Capcom will keep reprinting the game, but you never know -- I still haven't seen it in stores except for the day I bought it.

Tony Hawk American Sk8land is only $20 bucks at every store I've been to and feels a lot like classic Hawk (I never got into THUG, or whatever it's called now). Why doesn't this game get more love?

No one has any excuses not to get Dawn of Sorrow if they have a DS lite. I just beat Julius Mode and it's like a completely different and even more awesome game. AWESOME!

I was looking forward to Julius Mode, but my brother is INSISTING I let him borrow the game. Oh well, Julius will have to wait while I finish Trauma Center and Phoenix Wright!

Okay, first off, buy Phoenix Wright people.

Second, I have a reason for bumping this thread. With my new DS Lite, my old DS has gone to my mother. As of now, she is playing only Brain Age, since I did something quite stupid in the acquiring of my DS Lite. In order to justify the purchase, I traded in some Games. 4 DS Games, to be exact, all but one purchased for $15 CDN. These included:

Nintendogs
Zoo Keeper
Wario Ware: Touched!

Idiocy, clearly, when these are three games that my mother could have tried out. And I sold them. And got a pittance for Zoo Keeper, especially. It's frustrating. However, outside of picking up a used copy of Zoo Keeper (I'll test her on the flash version), does anyone have any game suggestions?

I showed her Big Brain Academy, but she felt it looks too young for her. Is this the case? I tried to sell her on Polarium, since I saw it in a $20 Bargain Bin, but she felt it looked too boring. She definitely doesn't want something fast-paced, so Meteos is out of the field. I have never played Magnetica (Puzzloop), but I assume it is not exactly slow-paced. She vetoed Tetris since my father used to like it and she is apparently harbouring resentment, and I'm really at a loss. I want to get her a game, so the system doesn't wear out once she runs out of patience with Brain Age (She's already unlocked everything, and has hit her Sudoku threshold), but she's making it difficult.

Oh, also, with Tony Hawk so cheap, is it worth it? It's only $25 Canadian, got good reviews, and I like a good Tony Hawk title.

I need help GAF!!

Should I buy Mario and Luigi PIT??? Do I have to play the first game to understand the humor in the second game?? Is the Combat boring and slow??

How is Lost in Blue???

And should I buy the japanese version of the first Phoenix Wright?? Or should I wait for Capcom to release a new shipment?? Do you guys know a trusted place to buy the US release of PW??

So, sorry to perform thread necromancy, but I haven't bought any DS games since NSMB (I have Meteos, Dawn of Sorrow, MP:H, and Mario Kart DS in addition to that). I have some money at my disposal, and I'm thinking about getting ~3 games. Phoenix Wright is one, if I can find it, but recommend me some others... Oh, slightly OT, but if anyone would think about trading for Castlevania (I know it's hard to find), PM me or something; we'll talk.

PW
Ouendan (import it)
Advance Wars DS
Rocket Slime
Trauma Center

My top 5 right now excluding Castlevania.

Well, I'm off to my local Gamestop to see what they have (the only store with DS games within a sane distance). Be back soon.

I just returned with a copy of Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime and Sonic Rush. Ouendan should be coming soon. It's a great time to be a DS gamer.
