That does appear to be rather blurry, I can't read shit!
Biggest launch backfire ever? Why do I have the feeling we have a class action incoming. My lawyer sense is tingling!

I'm still loving the browser (and photo mode...)

No lawsuit from me!

You're just mad you got whooped by your son. zing! I kid. Thanks for the impressions I *may* pick one up and sneak it past the wife.

My son is five and he actually does hand my ass to me with MarioKart :lol

I got no blurring or yellowing of the screens. I would at least try they system and then send it back if its faulty.

:lol I messed up. That picture was supposed to be a reply to the guy saying DS games would be stretched/out of proportion because of the larger screens, not the "blur problem".

What Kintaro is talking about is a slight blur when you move in the game. Its really really slight though and happens on the lite too. Its not really ghosting either.

EDIT: My sarcasm meter is busted.

Seriously, this thing is total junk. Check out this picture I took with the camera, you can't even make out what it is, the whole thing looks covered in vasoline.

I can't tell who's actually serious about this screen nonsense. :lol

Mine looks amazing, by the way.

No one really. The screens look amazing, no stretching, clear and vibrant. The whole Chrono Trigger thing was a very faint blur effect when moving around (not ghosting). That picture wasn't supposed representative of it or any sort of screen issue.

Quick question.
It about time I got a DS but I really don't think I need the DSi. Has the original gone through a price drop already or is there talk of them lowering it?

I'm in love with this thing. Don't know why I held out so long on buying a DS. Chrono Trigger, GTA, and Bleach: Dark Souls are going to keep me busy for a long ass time. After that I still have an endless amount of games I need to play.

As someone said earlier in the thread Chrono Trigger looks fine on the DSi. No ghosting for me. Man its great to be playing this again.

It is much more noticeable in NSMB. Just run across a level with lush colors, like 1-1. If you are looking to the ?-blocks, its like they merge with the hills in the background for a short moment (difficult to describe).

That's just the thing, this time around Nintendo didn't even lower the DSL price and the DSL never really showed the decrease in sales it did in JPN. Seems like they already decided to sell the DSL through the 2009 holiday season both in the UK and US at least. Then if they do drop the price shouldn't they also drop the DSi prices to keep the price difference the same? Won't they be missing the $130 sweet spot if they don't? Lots of different factors to consider here like DSL sales, price difference, multiple SKUs on the market, DSi retail games, avoiding buyer regret, and of course time(maybe at the beginning of the 2009 holiday season?).

Were any of the pictures from the Nintendo DSi midnight launch at Universal CityWalk in LA posted here and if so has this picture been 'shopped yet? :lol

As far as we know the DS lite is going to stay at the price its at now. If you have the money to spare I would get the DSi. It's going to be worth it in the long run.

I'm assuming by original you mean DS lite.

I wasn't sure of the wording, just what it looked like. I didn't mean to cause any fuss, but I didn't hear of this when the game came out. Was just weird.

So there isn't really much of a screen problem? I was going to hold off on buying one if there was.

Well, like I said before, Bleach: Dark Souls looks great. So, perhaps it's a game by game basis thing and inherent in the games themselves. I honestly don't know.

I bought the thing yesterday and I'm kind of regretting the purchase... Up in Canada it's 200$ plus tax making it a 225$ price... If I get to sell my DS Lite at 125 (which is still a dream....) It would be a 100$ premium...for what?

- Cameras (that I won't use much)
- Music player (same)
- Internet browser (...maybe, but I don't think so....)
- DSiWare (that's the big thing)
- Larger screens (bleh not that big of a deal)

Even with DSiWare though, I'm not impressed... Wario Ware is REALLY short, and Aquia is not amazing from my point of view (and I LOVE puzzle games).

Don't get me wrong, I want to have it when DQ9 comes out with DSi enhanced performances :P I will get it eventually, but I just don't think it's worth it right now...
Should I bother returning it? Wait till a price drop? Do you think there will be a price drop on the thing? (Ok, I guess I know the answer is no :\ )

Just keep it and find someone or somewhere to sell the DSlite. Its still a better put together system (and imo you should've saved those points)

Honestly DSiWare is a bust. It won't be worth a damn for months, if ever judging by the Japanese version.

The music player and photo thing are great fun though.

i noticed a bit of blur in Phantom Hourglass, but that's the only game of the 7 or 8 i've tried.

Were those other games you've played 2D? I don't notice it in Kirby SSU or Henry Hatsworth, but it was apparent in NSMB and Mario Kart. It's very minor stuff and not nearly as bad as the PSP-1000 or 2000.

there was a thread a while back about some puzzle game on DSi was was supposed to be good, so that might be worth it.

and the music player is better than I expected. The 8-bit mode really works with some songs.

Bird and Beans is so much better than I expected, and I was expecting quite a lot. Among the best games I've ever played. If these are the kinds of games DSiWare will be getting, who needs a console between the glorious DS library and the glorious DSiWare? That is a lot of fun right there.

I just tried the blue one, which I thought was ugly based on pictures online, and now it might be the one I buy. :lol

It actually looks really great in person.

On another note, I was surprised at how great the games look on the bigger screen. Not stretched out or anything like that.

I know what I'll be doing with my next paycheck.

You've seriously never played Pyoro before? Regardless, Paper Airplane über alles though I know it won't be to everyone's liking.

I know... Damn you Nintendo for making me spend all that money!

I need a job...

And for the games, I kind of needed the WarioWare game to justify my purchase to friends :P and I thought I'd love Aquia....

I decided to mash different combinations of buttons(I have a habit of this) and discovered the in-game brightness adjustment. I know Im late as hell, but its still pretty cool. Ill never use it though.

I never played the original WarioWare.

These are my kind of games, simple one-off concepts that are replayable forever and ever.

Whoa, the game is cute, fun and very pick up and play, but come on! This is the type of game I want to keep seeing on DSiWare, well-priced bite-sized portions of fun to play in between real games. At 200 points it is a no brainer to buy this, and I would buy many more at 200. 800 and sometimes 500 is kind of asking a lot for such a small title though. I bought Aquia and I enjoy it, but I would have felt a lot better paying 200 for it.

I'll try messing with the brightness, but it's only at 4. Bleach: Dark Souls played fine, but CT looks smeared when in motion. =/
I don't have that issue with mine either. I think something is wrong with yours.

Someone posted a few pages back about backlight leakage. I just played for the first time in the dark and I can see the backlight in the top-left corner of the touchscreen if I hold the DSi at a certain angle. It's barely noticable but I wanted the guy who posted to know he wasn't alone.

Finally got these lame ass screen protectors on without any dust problems. God, I hate screen protectors!
I find that I never really get the most out of my portable devices until I start treating them like shit, like they deserve to be treated. Taking that stupid-ass skin off my iPod was a revelation.

Don't have it on the touch screen, but I do have it slightly on the top screen, upper left. Very, very small.

I was indeed referencing the DS lite thanks man Ill try and scrounge up some more funds for the DSi.

Ugh the damn thing is launching tomorrow in my country. Gaf please tell me is the screens are not screwed or do some gaffers were just unlucky or is this another PSP 3000 shit LCD screen issue.

It doesn't help it that the DSi cost MORE then a xbox 360 core here.

P.S the yellow tinge on the DS Lite is fine to me no issues on that bit.

Has anyone seen this steaming turd yet?

http://gear.ign.com/articles/970/970172p1.html

On paper, the DSi boasts a significant processing speed boost over its predecessor, jumping from 67 MHz in the DS Lite to 133 MHz in the DSi, but during our evaluations actual speed variations between the two were negligible.

Like we experienced with the DSi's CPU speed enhancements, the benefits of the expanded RAM are hardly noticeable despite being four times that of the DS Lite.

:lol :lol
