Dualshock 4 running on PS3 playing Battlefield 3!

Odd... Why Shu confirm that DS4 will not work on PS3 when it clearly does?

huh?
You sure that wasn't the opposite?

Otherwise he might've meant it wouldn't work officially. Maybe it is recognised as a generic device.

Not that they can't easily patch it in.

likely just a generic USB device, so no sixaxis, rumble, bluetooth, etc. just the face buttons, dpad, shoulders, and analog sticks.

i wonder if ps3 controllers will work on ps4 ?

You can plug in any generic HID USB controller and it will most likely work on PS3. PS4 controller is a generic HID device, so it makes sense it works.

I finally get a cheap DS3 controller after all these years since I wasn't willing to spend over $20 for one, and now I hear DS4 are compatible with the PS3. Makes my Red DS3 even more worthless and I haven't even had it for 6 months.

Guaranteed my brother and me will probably be using our DS4s at ever opportunity over the DS3 if they work on PS3 with no issues.

Am I imagining things or did the Home button not seem to work? Not a big deal, mind you, just something I noticed. If the DS4 ends up working just fine with the PS3 (at least while plugged in) then hell yes I'm going to pick one up.

Not sure if this was posted anywhere, but here's another video of DS4 working on PS3:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSZk18sVnq4

Here's what he said in the comments:

Option Works as Start, Select not on the PS4 Controller (share is there) but no Button on the PS4 Controller works as select
Clenio Lima wrote in a comment that we could try paring the ps4 controller in the menu for wireless. We havent done that yesterday and will try it today.

I will keep you guys updated

He also said this about the DS4:
Sticks are smaller, the space between the buttons (triangle, Square, circle, ect.) is also smaller.

But my Hands are still freakishly huge!

Why does this look fake to me? I mean, there's no reason for it to be fake, DS4's are in the wild and they work with the PS3, but the guy seems to be hitting those buttons awkwardly. I can't really explain it, it just looks off.

Notice the blue light is not on either.

Very nice. Glad that he is holding it with his full hands and it fits well, as opposed to having to cradle it in only half your hands like the DS2 and DS3 with the small handles they had.

yup like the prior video a few days ago.... acts like a 3rd party controller and has to be plugged in....

hope the make it official through a firmware

so it was not sony who made it work? it just happened to work? Also ps4 controllers can be bought right now?

Some retailers have broken the street date. Or apparently, there wasn't a street date sent to some of them to begin with. Since retailers are recieving shipments I guess some are selling them? I don't know the full details as I have yet to see any at my local retail stores.

Not the first time thats happened. The collection releases of infamous, god of war, and ratchet and clank were released early at my local best buy and the release dates were all messed up last year.

i wouldn't toss those DS3's yet. pressure sensitive buttons will never be supported and you might never get full functionality if Sony doesn't get behind this with a firmware update.

It is micro, same connector used by most smartphones made after 2009 or so.
