• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Dudes, Kirby: Canvas Curse is out today. Official thread and all that.

I have a question. To unlock the Jump Game,
do you need to beat Drawcia with every different ball or beat the entire game witih every different ball?

I've unlocked 65 metals so far, I'm on level 5. This game gets more and more fun as time goes by! Some of these metals are really tricky to find, but thats the fun. :) Oh yeah, that Penny Arcade describes exactly how I feel when playing the game!

I need a longer stylus. damn thing is about an inch to short to play for more then a little while before hurting my hand.

do they sell longer ones and if so any suggestions ??

this is the 1st game in a long time where i actually wantto go back and try again and again to get the medals.

I for one would like to see a picture of this.

Only about half of 'em have arrived so far. Once they're all here I'll arrange 'em and snap a pic.

I've been on the fence regarding the Kirby series since the first one hit the GBA, but I've always held off. The DS version finally swayed me. So, that same night, I hunted all of the classics through eBay, Half.com, and the Amazon marketplace, and the following day I headed off to the Nintendo World store in NY to pick up the 2 GBA games, Kirby Air Ride, and Kirby Canvas Curse. (Noticed that Yoshi Topsy Turvy had come out, and picked that up as well.) As of Saturday's noon mail drop off, Kirby's Avalanche (SNES), Kirby's Dream Course (SNES), Kirby's Star Stackers (GB), and Kirby's Block Ball have arrived.

I'm still awaiting Kirby's Dream Land 1-3 (GB, SNES), Kirby's Adventure (NES), Kirby Super Star (SNES), Kirby - The Crystal Shards (N64), and Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble (GBC), and Kirby Pinball Land, the last of which I've honestly yet to find complete, so that one will be missing until it turns up!

Turns out that I had Kirby Slide-e in my E-Reader collection, so I didn't have to hunt that one down.

You got Yoshi Topsy Turvy? If you haven't opened it, for the love of god, RETURN IT.

It goes with the rest of the Yoshi games (good and bad) in my collection. ;p

Opened, but haven't played it yet.

I don't think you can do the former without doing the latter anyway ;)

All I have to say is I am loving this game. The controls (Long live the touch screen.), graphical style, and everything else is just great. Also, I picked up Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble on Ebay a day before getting this so I'm enjoying that too. More games should have gyro control (Just ordered Warioware Twisted! too.). Kirby love all around.

Looks cheap and easy to break. What is it, a stylus that fits on the DS holder, but can be extended once removed? Cool idea, but as I said, looks like it can easily be snapped.

I think sp0rks snagged that from the bag of assorted goodies we got from Hori at E3, I'd pester him and see how it's holding up.

that looks like the xtra i am needing but gotta agree looks like a weak point.

i might just see about picking up one for a PDA or something.
It looks weak, but actually it isn't THAT fragile. You can't put PDA's stylus in the back of NDS.

Fuck, the Stone Level B is kicking my ass. I can't get the 3rd time trial medal. And I haven't tried the ink trial yet.

This game made me buy the other 16 or 17 Kirby games (including KAR). I win, you lose. :)

I will most likely buy the 2 GBA games.

The other games, mainly SNES, i'll get them on my Revolution.

kirby is fucking awesome.

anyone who claims that nintendo just whores out the same games over and over are idiots.

I can't believe how much depth this game has.

Canvas Curse is great! But I've always had a thing for Kirby.

(I do have Star Stacker, btw, but I just can't find it at the moment. Sorry if I stole your thunder a little there, Mej.)

The Kirby Series is quite innovative and underrated.

They have the first tilt sensor game and they almost had the first GBA/GC game (cancelled) which made sense.

I think most of us already knew kirby likes the penis

Yer a bastard for trying to trump me, but as you mentioned, yer missing a GB game... AND, apparently, Kirby Slide-E? Once I get my collection together, I'll be back.

Oh yes, I will be back. :)

I will admit, however, that some of your stuff is definitely in better condition that some of the stuff I've got in so far.

Holy sweet merciful Christ, have some Kirby why dontcha? :lol

So I scoured this whole thread, and I didn't find an answer to my quandry, so 'ere goes:

In this one part of Level 1 -- the area with all the tubes -- I can see the medal in the second area; It's sitting on the opposite side of a block with a red switch on it. Where is this switch? I've searched every square inch of that area and came up empty handed.

(and sorry for posting two in-a-row!)

Hit the red switch in 3-1 using the Crush ability to destroy the blocks surrounding it and the medal (the black bomb looking enemy).

As far as unlockables go... mainly replacment rainbow paths...

what all have you found?

i find myself using the zebra more then the rest.

i was hoping for a lime green with a glow (think lightsaber) but no luck yet.

everything else is sorta fruity rainbow colored.

Man, I guess I own just about every Kirby game too. The only ones I don't have are Air Ride (rented it, didn't hold my interest) and Canvas Curse (getting it soon).

The red switch that opens all red blockades is in 3-1, towards the end. There's an area where you have to progress vertically through some spinning blades, and eventually flame shooting dudes. Get the stone powerup, and go through a hidden door that you can see on your map.

just got the game. WOW

it's so much fun, initially hard but I'm getting the hang of it. STOP MOVING KIRBY

for unlockables I'm starting at the top and unlocking in order. I have 4 line types and zebra is the best easily.

Stone B is insanely difficult. Does this have multiple paths? I can't even get close to the first medal for time trial. Although it was very late last night when I tried. I have the top 4 unlockable levels and stone and wheel b so far. the wheel levels are the most fun I think. Don't like the stone powerup :(

Got this yesterday and have played for 2 hours 20 minutes done 23% It's insanely fun. I did cheat a little and read the help the Justin posted about that switch though. I probably would have missed it otherwise. now I check the map like crazy.

Some hints for Stone B:

#1: Vertical line paths, especially in the water section, are great for you to pick up time on. Especially in the water where you have to dodge the spikes

#2: Don't bother carefully dodging the bombs; just go right through them. You'll only end up being hit by only one of them most likely, anyway, if you really rush

Before I discovered these two strategies, I could barely get below the 2 minute mark on a perfect run. After discovering these strategies and continuing to try over and over again, I was finally able to get the 3rd time trial medal with a 1:18:00 run.

It was the same way for me, too. I could barely

Well, everyone here seemed to love it, so I went and picked it up and man, what a blast. New way to play a game!

Is this game going to get hard as hell on me? From what I've played thus far, I can only imagine what B.S. thing Ninty is going to throw at me.

Good call guys. Great game thus far.

My mind's made up. When I travel abroad next month, if I run across one of those Japanese DSes with a slick color, I'm buying one :). Kirby just looks too good.
