Dumbest gaming related buys. (stupidly expensive LE / CEs allowed)

If there is anyone who doesn't find a usage for Destiny Ghost CE, I am willing to give it a new warm home.

Thise things sold out in my country and I always wanted it.

I bought a Tapwave Zodiac because I saw a bunch of screen shots for games that never came out like Neverwinter Nights. It ended up being a decent little handheld emulator but I never came close to using it enough to justify its price tag.

Street Fighter 5 steelbook. It was same price as normal.
I regret it because i just dont understand how to play a SF game. It just do not click with med.

Not really expensive mistakes, but ones I've made a few times and really should have learned by now:

A lot of gaming peripherals: a steering wheel for my PS1, a fightstick for PS3, PS3 fightpad, PS Move. Inevitably I just go back to the standard controller. I keep considering a PS4 fightstick now too...

Game novels. Reading and playing games are my two biggest hobbies. Whenever I used to see a novel of a game or series I like I'd buy it blind, only to get home and remember how garbage the writing in them almost invariably is. I haven't done this in a while, so hopefully I've learned my lesson, but I do feel an urge I have to suppress anytime I see one.

When I was young I remember I blew my savings on Dragon Ball Z Sagas for the Gamecube. I remember X-Play shat on it, but I was a big enough DBZ fan to look past it and expect to have fun anyway. But yeah, game was shit and only lasted a few hours.

Other one I remember was Transformers: Dark of the Moon. I took a gamble on a movie game since it was made by High Moon Studios and I had a lot of fun with Fall of Cybertron or whatever their first game was.

did anyone here buy this thing

One of my biggest regrets is not buying this when I had the chance.

Literally everything that required specific or oversized hardware. The european edition of Beatmania for PSX... And Kinect. Because not enough space away from the TV. I could say that every motion control thingy has been a disaster, as I only used PS Move once for Heavy Rain.

Also, limited editions that I still haven't thrown the box...

It's not that much expensive, but... It takes space, a lot. And I am too stupid to just throw away the packaging. So that's why I avoid limited editions like the plague, even the ones that are not bigger than a DVD case. Why would I want an A5 sized artbook?

Bought this around release. Barely played any user created levels, not interested in making my own levels and the amiibo hasn't been touched.

I regret paying $100 for the Bioshock 2 collectors edition on day one. I liked the game and it was a pretty nice collectors edition, but it got to the point where you could easily find it for $20.

This is mine too, for the same reasons. I liked the game (although not as much as 1), but I felt I spent too much money on that one.

Silent Hill HD was a dumb ass move especially when it was looking fishy before it actually came out.

Kid Icarus on 3DS was also a horrible purchase. Luckily I was able to get a full refund on Silent Hill HD and recoup my loss on KI and actually profit.

Last limited edition / collector's edition I've bought. Done with this shit ever since.

I'm willing to shell a little more for an artbook and/or a steelbook case. But publishers can keep their cheap, terribly built statues and figurines and shove it.

Ugh, you bought that for full price/a lot? That must have sucked.
I got it for 99 swedish kronor ($12/€10) and that's pretty much what it's worth. Used the backpack (it was ugly but comfy) and it ripped almost immediately. The statue was broken from the start and didn't light up.

The CE for Bravely Default. Paid so much then realized at the first boss that the game is good but just not for me.

Honorable mention would be the PAL CE for Castlevania LoS, didn't really like the game but that mask is actually kind of cool and well made.

Haze PS3,yep preordered and paid full retail price on release day.I still imagine burning down my local Gamestop everytime I pass by it for even allowing me to buy that pos game.

LE's most def The Order.

Bought Diablo for PS3 only to find out 2 months later they released the expansion, Reaper of Souls

the thing is, i have no idea Blizzard would charge full price for an expansion, if only i know ... i probably would wait and bought Reaper of Souls instead

I collected every amiibo. I couldn't stop, had about 60 of them.

Luckily someone on eBay wanted them all for their niece.

I also have the F3AR CE which is just terrible with the pregnant Alma statue. Vomit.

Well I've decided to just wait until Christmas and buy the GUST 20th box set for myself as a christmas present. That way I can find any other reason than "i want it" to buy it and I'll be able to grab it while its price is still somewhat sane.

What saddens me is that seemingly hundreds of people bought that damn CE and few actually played the game.

I remember when my first 360 red ringed. As soon as I started the process to send it in to get fixed I went to the store and bought a new 360. I thought the repair time would be a few months and figured it would always be prone to breaking in the future.
It ended up being like a 10 day total turn around time and never broke again. Basically wasted 299 dollars because I couldn't wait 10 days.

Also that Halo Reach LE. Thing was like 150 bucks for a "statue" that I would never actually display and an in game flaming helmet to use in the multiplayer. Turns out I didn't actually like the multiplayer in Reach.

Played it, but ended getting the chaos alignment ending (And not ever trying again, had enough with the fiends bullying me). Although I had to copy and patch it in order to play it on a pal ps2, so... still sealed.

I CANNOT believe I dove back in for Rock Band 4. Bought two BiaB bundles, 300 bucks worth of DLC songs. UGH... that one still hurts. Though my nephew has it now, so maybe it will get some use.

Every Vita game I've purchased at full price.

Between the PSN Flash sales and the much cheaper steam/mobile ports, I think you'd have to be an idiot like I was to do it.

Worst:
  • DNF CE
  • Quantum Break Digital Preorder
  • Watch Dogs + Season Pass

Best:
  • Any Blizzard CE

EDIT:
Best thing about it was D2 on a flash drive.

Wat? That CE was awesome. Skull/Flash drive was cool, art book is gorgeous, and the making of bluray was good.

Overwatch Collector's Edition. I only thought you could get the other Blizzard in game stuff by getting that and I only played the game for a week before I died of boredom.....fml.

Resident Evil 6 - Collectors Edition

Wanted to give RE another (!) chance ... but game was crap. And the 150 Euro Edition also ... was SO disappointed! Since then I reaaaaaaaaally think twice 'bout buying a "Collectors Edition" again.

The Beatles Rock Band kit with all the fixings. I don't even like having people over, much less having them touch my stuff.

Buying Persona 5 Japanese digital version when I don't know a thing about reading or understand Japanese.

Still, if this keeps me away of YouTube until February 14, it will have been worth it!

I was so hyped for this game. I was under the belief that I could really wield a lightsaber. Nope. Flick wii mote to win. I bought it Day 1. I learned my lesson.
