Well no, it was to show the new controller, according to Eurogamer Ubisoft have 2 exclusive games in development so not everything was shown, especially as Nintendo didn't announce anything except NSMB Mii.

They didn't even announce that. That's one of their tech demos.
The only games announced are from third parties and Smash Bros.

Nothing from E3 is up yet.

I think that's for the main press site, but not the E3-specific one I linked to.

EDIT: E32011 needs to be capitalized, then it works. Tons of assets up there.

I'm no Nintendo fanboi or anything, but the Nintendo controller is a lot more interesting to me than the fucking kinect. At least having an inventory screen is useful.

1) The controller.
2) No lag streaming.

Those are things that are going to appeal to the average consumer. Take off the GAF glasses for a minute.
What about the games? Take off the Nintendo tinted glasses boy. I love them guys but damn, this is not winning me over on the 3rd party support. AND we've seen nothing, NOTHING to say this is win even from a 1st party perspective.

My ratings are:

Nintendo: B
Sony: B
Microsoft D

I'd have to agree.

Might even be willing to give MSFT an F. That was one of the worst conferences I've seen, and their lack of first party software is devastating. I bought a 360 this gen, next time, it will be Sony or Nintendo unless they step it up and get some exclusive support.

What about all the stuff they showed? What bout the inevitable flood of PS360 ports?

Someone explain to me how the PS4/Xbox 720 don't bury this thing when they're announced.

Nintendo better pray Sony and Microsoft are too caught up in their own peculiar bullshit (hacks, Move, Kinect) to take the next logical step a year from now.

pretty much, the core will stick to buying the multiplatform games on the 360 or ps3, and then migrate to the new ps or xbox and the wii u will be in the same position as the wii is in now but with a system not as easy to show off on the ellen degeneres show

I am going to have to watch this conference much later on, the reactions here are very confusing as I am sure the actual conference was... people were seriously expecting the 2nd coming in Nintendo form and anything less was dissapointing... you guys were fools to rev up your hype as much as you guys did

Is the press site availalbe? Last year it was right after the conf... I need to see the bird mounts from Zelda skyward sword ;;

I wish Nintendo would just add another half hour or hour to their conferences. They always are in a huge rush, and a ton of titles get announced via the web an hour later cause they couldn't fit into the one hour block.

I love that BUT

ALL THOSE GAMES I WILL BUY ON PS3, 360, OR PC. Sorry. Nothing 3rd party to even account for yet. That LEGO game will be awesome though.

The controllers are going to cost more than the console.

I'm not going to spend $400-$500 on extra controllers just in case someone comes over and decides to play Wii-U with me.

This is exactly like the DS reveal in 2004...proof of existence, proof of concept, tangible...but no immediate concrete ideas. Just confusion, curiosity...and hope.

i just need to know that it's not just a Nintendo 360/PS3...it needs to be able to do it's own shit, graphically and featurewise.

People complaining about the lack of game announcements are missing the boat completely. The delivery was just pitch-perfect. Iwata and Reggie have never been better. John Riccietello committing Electronic Arts to the future success of the platform is a major coupe. !

EA said the same last about the Wii, and Nintendo trotted out a lineup of third party developers at the wii launch as well. And we all know how that ended up.

I don't see any reason why the wiiu will end up any differently. The next generation of sony/MS platforms will be unveiled next year, and with it the next generation of unreal engine and other engines that will leave the wiiu in the dust.

so the wiiu won't be the lead developmental sku, and the wiiu version will end up looking like shit, with some secondary screen function tacked on, i.e. a map and inventory.

The Wiiu will end up like the wii: a great place to play Nitnendo made games, but shit for everything else.

I could live without either.

Not seen a reason for me to buy this in 8 months or so time, why would spend my cash to play pretty much the same game months after i can on my other HD consoles? I wanted to see something that blew the PS3/360 graphically out of this gen, havent seen that at all as yet. Conference remind me quite a bit of last years one, talk about new hardware, show loads of third party devs saying how awesome it is, show "footage" of all these cool third party games. This years E3 has only been classic in how bad certain parts have been im hoping MS and Sony have held stuff back for GC and TGS.

Good thing they can bring their own :P

1.WiiU released
2.nintendo only fans start enjoying hardcore
4.Sony/Microsoft announces next gen console
5.it shits all over WiiU's hardware
6.all major devs abandon WiiU
7.Wii all over again

This post nails it.

The whole thing gave just enough info to be titillating and left everyone watching it wanting more. Many of the games announced will be out earlier on other platforms, but that is not the point. The point is that announcing them showed the face of the new Nintendo - a company that seeks to appeal to everyone. It was an awesome show and they really couldn't have done any better.

Bravo, Nintendo! Another easy E3 win!

I just got the strangest case of deja vu reading your post. it's as if read this exact same thing before.... weird. well, If they can do a metroid and port some silent hill games I may just mosey back to the big N.

Yeah, but you can just not buy Kinect and use the 360 default gamepad.

The system is still a year away or so from launch and just like with the 3DS they wanted to focus on 3rd party content.

Why are people asking if it's a new console? Why are they asking if it has triggers? WTF did you just come into the thread and now watch a fucking thing?

How about now?

Just busting your balls
Too many buttons.

I know no tech was announced. But I'm a bit surprised at all the people that think it's not a powerful system. I'm sure the games shown have not had a ton of time to be developed for the WiiU.

I thought the bird demo looked pretty good too.

I was pretty excited about the annoucement until I saw it, they should have let this bake until next year for a real announcement. The controller is in fact uncomfortable (to me) if your trying to play a traditional type game. The demos they have on floor are interesting proofs of concept but I didn't see anyone getting particularly won over.

These are just initial impressions, ymmv.

What does everyone expect from Ps4/Xbox720?

other than it being magically "better"

It's not magic, sony just packed super power into a fucking portable for 250 bucks, their next console will smoke the ps3, where as this one so far doesn't look any better than ps3 tech wise. We need some specs.

For anyone out there still confused for some reason...Reggie just stated on G4 that it is in fact a brand new console.

Edit : "New GPU, new CPU, and everything else"

"It is 1080P"

Shit just go real.
