E3 is over. What are your lowlights?

I went into this E3 more hyped than I've been in years, but now that it's over, find myself fairly disappointed. For me, it was both games and, to a larger extent, hardware that were the most disappointing for me. Here's my list of biggest lowlights (in no particular order)...

Nintendo
• The Wii U controller - It's big, it's ugly and it has a resistive touchscreen? Total fail.
• Lack of Wii U online details despite being promised (several times) by Reggie during the Keighley interview

Sony
• The Last Guardian was MIA
• Lack of PSVita 3rd party games

Microsoft
• Kinect
• Kinect
• Kinect

Why can't it be like this...?

All 3 conferences.

STILL no uncut DmC gameplay. Ninja Gaiden 3 gameplay videos killed it for me, sad week for action games.

Sony:
- lack of vita release date
- lack of 3rd party games for vita

Microsoft:
- not many hardcore games that i care about

Nintendo:
- lack of real Wii U info since it's so far off still
- wii u itself seems boring to me

Another Kinect bashing thread? Aren't there enough of these already?

Edit: Covert Kinect bashing; sorry.

It's worth noting that hes bashing Wii U too. This is very much a bashing thread.

The games and the hardware (other than the NGP, but the new name does suck.)

I feel like there's not a whole lot to look forward to in the industry right now, and that the big 3 are more utterly incompetent now than they've ever been.

-Very little new or exciting out of E3 in general
-Wii U reveal seemed half-baked, Nintendo needed to explain and show it more clearly

MS: Kinect. Motion controls need to die in a chemical fire. The complete lack of any interesting first/second party ip.

Nintendo: everything. So sad to see such great IP being shoehorned into shitty gimmicks in order to be able to sell underpowered hardware at absurdly high prices. Greedy bastards.

Sony: Move. (See Kinect). Pushing 3D. The Vita is awesome though, so they lose less than the others and win by default.

The entire show was a lowlight. Seriously, the most "exciting" thing about E3 was the Vita's price. That's really pathetic.

Calling the Wii U controller a "lowlight" seems like a stretch to me. There's a whole thread of Gaffers brainstorming all of its possibilities. If that seems boring to you, I don't know what you want.

Wii U was, by far, the low point for me, mainly because expectations were so high. I think had they presented it in a similar light to DSi -- more of a step up from Wii than their next-generation console -- it would have been better received. But they really couldn't, not if their goal is to change perception of where home gaming is headed.

Nintendo- the Wii-U, the whole thing. I was really hoping for a new console or something entirely new. I know all signs pointed to a Wii HD but I dunno, I expected something more I guess. Too many old IP's. I didn't get excited over the Zelda demo as I might have 10 years ago.

Sony- The Last Guardian not being there.

Microsoft- Too much Kinect stuff that doesn't personally appeal to me, a mid 20's Kinect owner. Pretty much confirms MS doesn't have a lot of core support for later on (which is fine really, I do all my multiplatforming on the system anyways).

The conference stuff was mostly what I watched, that and a few demos on G4. Pretty much all the demos I saw I liked so I didn't have any moments outside the big 3 that were lowlights.

Microsoft for trying so hard to push the kinect. Nintendo for the complete lack of anything remotely new or interesting, and the first half of Sony's conference because there was nothing new aside from Sly 4 which looks cool.

But then again I don't watch E3 for the megatons. I just want to see lots of gameplay footage of games I am looking forward to. And I got just that.. except for Torchlight 2.

Uh... it is a new console.

A damn controller that works and is comfortable, not a bulky monstrosity with more gimmicks.

My biggest lowlight would be the way GAF acted in general in regard to the WiiU. I've never seen so much blind hate, uneducated comments and overall trolling in my time here on GAF.

One of the most dull E3s in recent memory. And that's saying something. Outside of Skyrim, the Wii U controller (which Nintendo even butchered in its conference reveal), and the PS Vita's price... it was just... uninspired all around.

Don't blame us, blame Kinect. If we weren't vehemently bashing it, I would be concerned.

Anyways: The horrible Kinect showing, especially the paid actors and their phony banter. Just awful, awful stuff.

Name of this E3 might as well been, more of the same. Nothing looked terrible, but very little looked exciting either.

Month old+ leaks also killed any surprises that might of been had.

Bethasda! WTF was up with not having your games playable by everyone?!
Ninja Gaiden 3 - Did not like what I saw, esp the 360 version.
Kinnect
No last guardian :/

Overall this e3 was a letdown. No games for Nintendo's new hotness, too much focus on the casual by MS, and not enough games from the japanese :(

Thank god for the 3ds, Battlefield 3 and Zelda!

Without the gimmicks Nintendo would have to actually produce competitive hardware and wouldn't be able to continue gouging their customers.

Good lord, what an ignorant comment.
