EA: Battlefield's rocky launch did not "damage" the franchise

Whatever helps them sleep at night I guess. They talk about it as if the world knew the problems with the game before it shipped this year.

We will see when they launch the next installment. I know I won't be there day 1 this time, I will have to see how it performs before dumping my money again.

It was damaged for me. Was going to get BF4 for PS4 but when I read reports and saw it crash live multiple times it sat on the back burner for me and eventually I stopped caring. Not getting BF5 day one that's for sure.

These questions should not stop being asked. If the press doesn't question the game and server stability for every upcoming internal EA developed game when given the chance to interview they are not doing their jobs. This has happened to multiple games on multiple platforms for EA.

I was one of the folks who was ready to trade my BF4 in, but my son wouldn't let me. I'm really glad I didn't. Conquest alone will tide me over till Destiny.

After BF4 I won't buy their next BF day one and rather wait for impressions. In fact the last great BF game to me was Battlefield Bad Company 2.

umm yeah it did. I have preordered almost every single Battlefield game ever. I will not be buying BF5... So yep it sure did with me.

yes it didn't damage the franchise....it's not like it has been 4+ months since this game came out and last night I kept getting stuck in a queue without being able to enter a server even though there were 15 spots open....

I'll agree on that. I was never going to buy it. EA is a damaged brand to me.

This.
I got burned three times within the same year with EA games.
DS3, SC, and BF4.
Will never preorder anything worth over $60 from EA anymore after the whole situation with BF.
I am not going to say that I won't buy anymore products from EA, but I will now wait for price cut or just buy used instead.

Millions of gamers have been experiencing bugs and glitches for 4 months now, and that won't damage the franchise? We will see when the next BF arrives. If Destiny/the division are any good they may be in for a surprise.

Damaged for me, in the sense that I won't buy BF5 when it launches, because I know it'll be a mess. And I don't think I want to get in late on an online FPS either again...
I bought BF3 when the full Premium disk was released. I had fun, but got the feeling the game was "played out", most people seemed to be veterans at the game, knowing all the angles/paths/corners etc.
BF4 with these new consoles didn't have much competition, but BF5 will when it releases.

Dammit. Now one of my most favorite franchises is in the hands of these guys: Star Wars Battlefront. If they "Battlefield" that game (bugs & issues galore, connection problems, difficulty joining friends online, CoDify it...) I'm going to be pissy at EA/DICE.

At one time, DICE was tops in my book, with Rallisport Challenge. Now I see them as a dev that puts out unfinished products.

They'll release footage of BF5 with really impressive graphics from the SP campaign and most of the those swearing off the series will be back on

And those boycotting this game will also buy EA published Titanfall instead, either way, EA gets it's money

Oh its damaged to me alright. The game is like poison to me now. Everytime i try to play it again i just start to get angry. That's is that exact opposite reaction to a game . I would prefer happiness

Loved the BF series...played the hell outta the older BF games along with BC2 and BF3...I rarely play BF4..It really just leaves a sour taste in my mouth...really sad for the franchise...

The obvious solution to get gamers back on their side is to bring back Bad Company

It was such a breath of fresh air compared to other war games. Too bad DICE is apparently convinced that the humor is why it didn't sell as well as the main games. :/

Thanks but no thanks. Bad Company is everything Battlefield shouldn't be. From BF2 to BC, Battlefield was ruined. Lack of commander, less players, smaller squads, no squad leader, no only spawn at squad leader, etc. BC isn't Battlefield.

See, it's funny, cause this is precisely what happened with Bethesda, Paradox and Obsidian. All three companies, whether fully deserved or no, have garnered a reputation for shipping broken, buggy games and they've been fighting an uphill battle to reverse that perception ever since.

With BF4, DICE has absolutely joined the club. They can deny it all the like, but it's pretty much conventional wisdom at this point that DICE's QA department is run/staffed by a particularly retarded shrewdness of apes.

I bought BF4 on black friday for $25 and the price was revealed a week/days before the game came out so now i will be even more cautious with BF5

It did for me. I never bought this game because of all the continuing horror stories. Even if its is fixed at this point what is the point of starting to play this now? Wont even consider the next one unless I hear good things post release. As far as everyone else is concerned they are probably right. EA has nothing to worry about. People will still sheepishly pre-order BF5 cause hype!!!

Never again will I buy a game in the series.I spent alot on this game and it was a busted pile of garbage. What a cocky attitude to have EA but keep telling yourself that I certainly won't buy another in the franchise.

Bullshit. I have learned my lesson the hard way with the last installment. Bought the BF4 premium edition and have regretted it since day one. Months of rubberbanding, no Conquest matches working, lag up one side and down the other, game boots just before matches end, ad nasuem.

I stopped playing a month ago and my friend talked me into playing a match two days ago and after the FIRST MATCH I got booted and lost all points for the round.

I'm so sick of EA and DICEs crap. I usually just vent and still go back to products I love in time but I am literally sticking to my guns on this one. There is no way I will buy another Battlefield game, period. There are too many developers out there who make great quality games that I would rather support than the DICE/EA combo.

To be quite honest, I don't really care about the multiplayer in the mainline games or spinoffs. I like Bad Company because they have solid single player campaigns. The original BC is actually more Battlefield in terms of design than the actual mainline single player campaigns, which are ultra linear.

EA: Battlefield's rocky launch did not "damage" the franchise

Yet another Al-Sahaf like statement from EA on Battlefield 4 sales. Fact is BF3 almost sold twice as much on three platforms than BF4 did on five platforms.

I put more hours into BC: Vietnam than any other mainline Battlefield game. Just because some multiplayer features are removed, that doesn't make it any less of a game from the series.

A game that hasn't suffered damage doesn't offer a "Player Appreciation Month" in a desperate attempt to get back the audience.

Sure it hasn't...I gave BF4 the benefit of the doubt (BF 3 launch wasn't THAT terrible) but there's no way I'm buying BF5 day 1 that's for sure

Ah, well, if you're talking about single player I can understand it. It was a fun campaign even though it unfortunately left me with a bad taste when I jumped into multiplayer and saw all the changes it had made to the franchise I had been playing since 2002.

Sure, just don't call it Battlefield. Those are not "some multiplayer features", those are features that made Battlefield. Squadplay was never the same since the absurd changes they made in BC.

Translation: We sold a shit nugget, people still bought it. Why should we care about quality for futur installments.

You mean like this series?

Medal of Honor was THE Military FPS game at one time.. And after years of shoddy games, and little QA to protect the brand, Warfighter killed the series. Its why we are getting annualized Battlefield despite nobody asking for it. EA is going to do the same thing to Battlefield because they can't help themselves.
