EA has no titles in development for Wii U

This is a disaster.

It certainly isn't a new disaster.

We know that EA and Nintendo's relationship is terrible now. It should go without saying EA has no games in development for the Wii U.
 
One way or another (even if it's not for hardcore games and franchises), they'll regret that decision. When they finally decide to develop some stuff for it, it'll arrive too late.
 
holy shit. I honestly didn't think third party support could get substantially worse for a major console than it was for Wii, but here we are :P

This is a disaster of biblical proportions for Nintendo at this point. Even if they DID start making first party games that draw in a slightly bigger crowd, the system will now never have the possibility of expanding beyond that core demographic which right now is not exactly roarin' for Nintendo.

And that's before we consider one of the best games for Wii was Boom Blox, which was from EA :(
 
No Battlefield.
No FIFA.
No Madden.
No NCAA Football.
No Need for Speed.
No NHL.
No Plants vs. Zombies 2.
No Tiger Woods PGA Tour.
No Sims 4.
No Star Wars games.

Mario Kart U better be damn good.

Why isn't the gaming media grilling Nintendo and EA about what wrong with that "unprecedented partnership"? If we got the details of what was supposed to happen and why it hasn't it would be fascinating.

Nintendo really, really need to do some work to sell consoles now that the biggest third party isn't even releasing games on the platform. If Wii U is to even reach GameCube levels it is going to need the best first party output in the company's history.
 
I thought EA was contractually obligated to make FIFA for all consoles each year?


If Wii U isn't getting FIFA this year, that means FIFA does not see Wii U as a viable console. That's the biggest news out of this.

Well, of course it did, it came out crazy late. That's why I thought EA would double down on that one. I forgot it wasn't Criterion's year though, so I guess the next one is Frostbite, which is probably part of the issue.
 
0 titles in development from one of the world's largest video game publishers, just think about that for a second.

The fact that EA holds an unofficial monopoly on most every sports game makes this all the worse for Nintendo. I never really understood the hate for EA, but I am really beginning to see why somebody would.
 
Wow forget the Lets Play thread. Bad news for Nintendo but personally not a big deal because most EA games recently have been garbage and shrinking down to publish only Madden, Fifa, and Battlefield is not making me miss them.

Eh, I think the real blame for this lies closer to the top. I would imagine that whoever handles third-party relations at Nintendo simply doesn't have enough say to impact the NCL decisions (specs, online functionality, first-party lineup) that have made it such a clearly unappealing platform for third parties.

This is great now the other 3rd party publishers will have a bigger piece of the Wii U pie!!

Yeah it sucks, but we all saw it coming a mile away.
 
Shameful. Nintendo really squandered a golden opportunity with the Wii U.

Despite it not always being the best effort, EA did provide some much needed content for the Wii. The Wii U could be in real trouble, although I guess the 3DS is doing fine without EA support.

If the system gains momentum and sales, EA will come back at that decision and start developing games for it, but that'll take time and then it's probably too late for them to get some attention on it.
 
I'm so glad the gaming "press" spends all their time tweeting "I HAVE A SECRET BUT I CAN'T TELL!" rather than investigating just what the hell is going on with situations like this.
 
What a damn mess the Wii U has become. They absolutely squandered the year lead that they had. I really wanna know what happened between EA and Nintendo. I don't buy that bullshit story that everyone keeps passing around. I wonder how many other publishers also have 0 games in development for the Wii U.

Aside from EA not developing any games for the Wii U, I do wonder did Nintendo talk to any 3rd party publishers at all (except Ubisoft & Warner) because how the hell did Nintendo not see this coming? They had to have known that 3rd party devs had no intention of developing for the Wii U even before the sales of the console cratered.

They have a job a really tough task on their hands right now. They're going to have to work some miracle to get themselves out of this shit situation.

where is the proof this bombed though? They never should have expected huge sales for a late port anyways, but i got the impression from the NFS Wii U thread that a decent amount of people picked it up since it was only $30.00 online

Activision is the biggest third party. I think Take Two and Ubisoft are bigger than EA, too.

This is still bad though.
