Alright, my bad. It was 5 days later. Either way, it was a good port and it still sold like shit.
Anyone that is a big COD fan would have already bought it for 360 or PS3, not to mention the install base difference.

Did you expect Activision to delay BO2 for the Wii U launch? Get real.
I'd have expected at least Fifa 2014 for the Wii U. I mean, if even the Vita can get it ...

It was day and date with the console launch, a measily week after the game came out on PS360PC. I doubt that week had that much impact on sales, if any at all.
No one said that. However one can't claim it was day and date or that it being late (because it came out before the system launched) didn't play a role. Activision is known for being late and not acknowledging the existance of Wii versions of Call of Duty. Year after year that's been the case. The lack of confirmation regarding a Wii U version of the game until the New York event and then the denial of a Wii version could have easily made many people simply not bother to wait and picked the game up on other systems. Many Wii players of the series were feed up before that with the hacking in the Wii versions of the games and the lack of support overall. Early adopters would naturally be the type of buyer to have more then one system. No confirmation about DLC also would make the decision to not buy the Wii U version at launch and afterward easy for a LOT of people. There a number of reasons why the Wii U version of the game didn't do well and continues to not do well. There is no DLC for the Wii U version but to this day Activision will not say "No" when asked if the Wii U version of Black Ops 2 will get DLC. Guess what, people get tired of that BS and it's something carried over from the Wii versions.
You never answered my question. It was day and date with the console launch, a measily week after the game came out on PS360PC. I doubt that week had that much impact on sales, if any at all.
Hey man, if COD9 comes out on 720 at launch a week after it came out on 360, it'll bomb and no one will buy it. I mean come on.
Wow, not even the GameCube got this kind of treatment.
You never answered my question.
Could Nintendo scrap the Wii U, brush it aside... and introduce a machine that is comparable to what the PS4 and Durango are gonna be doing?... say in one or two years?... or are they going to ride out this upcoming generation on the back of the Wii U?.

I assume that would be financially disastrous for them; even compared to only eking out 20 million Wii U's sold.

Eh, Sega only got in trouble for doing it multiple times within a condensed time frame. This would be the first time Nintendo's abandoned hardware since the Virtual Boy. I don't think it would be disastrous. Considering the adoption rate even the core Nintendo audience is holding off on investing in a WiiU, so not as many of their fans would be burned as you'd think. And that massive warchest they earned with the DS and Wii would be better put to use building a console with a future than keep one on life support.
Pull the plug, Nintendo.
lolWell, you guys finally got your Dreamcast 2 I guess!
So no Madden 20xx Family Fun Mode Crapathon? lol bummer
Right...So will Nintendo give everyone that bought a Wii U a free new system?
Yeah, EA is a company known for their brilliant management. Which is why there are rumors they are letting go as much as ten percent of their workers.
I repeat the same question that has been asked: isn't EA obligated by the NFL to release Madden on every system? Or has even the NFL given up on the Wii U?
No, and they don't deserve one. Nowhere in or outside of the WiiU packaging is there a guaranteed shelf life specified. Did Sega have to buy every Dreamcast owner a PS2/Xbox/GCN? How long do you honestly expect the WiiU to last? 4 years? 8?

I think its because the tech head at dice stated it couldnt even handle Frostbite 2 that well. Why does anyone think this is because of Wii U's power? It's perfictly powerful enough to handle Frostbite, the reason EA has no games? In development for Wii U is because of Nintendo and EA's current relationship.
I think its because the tech head at dice stated it couldnt even handle Frostbite 2 that well.
I could be wrong but doesnt EA have more games out for the system then nintendo developed games? Seem EA is just movingdevelopment to next gen console engines
I was thinking more that scrapping their investment in Wii U would be disastrous, not so much the perception among consumers. (Although that would be pretty bad also). We're talking hundreds of millions of dollars of R&D, software development, supplier & manufacturing costs, distributors, retailers, marketing, etc etc.
They have a lot of money tied up in Wii U. Way too much to pull the plug after only 8 months. Even historically awful 8 months.
Madden did get roster updates. But otherwise right on.Did Nintendo also force EA to announce ME trilogy for other systems right before ME3 for Wii U came out, then force them to price it at $60?
Did Nintendo force EA not to do roster updates?
A company made bad games and bad business decisions and somehow the only party not responsible is that company.
Maybe Miyamoto also snuck into EA's offices and redid all the Fuse assets?
I see what you did.
GCN got REmake, RE4 and BG&E so it's already ten times better.
You lost me....
Here we go with the self fulfilling prophecy again. Why release DLC for a game that sold terribly? It's not worth the ROI for Activision and I can't blame them. These companies aren't out to get Nintendo. They're out to make $$$ first and formost and the Wii U doesn't present them with the type of opportunity to do that.
You said EA moved on to next gen systems inferring that the Wii U isn't a next gen system.
Here we go with the self fulfilling prophecy again.
Treat us like second class citizens and we won't buy your games.
Guys, guys... get your Nintendo bashing back on the same page. this circle jerk is starting to get out of sync. Can't have that.I said a next gen console engine. IE frostbite 3 and whatever the sport games are using.
5 days late (much more in the EU), no preorder bonuses, no DLC, delayed/missing patches, no double XP weekends the first couple times, the list goes on.Second class citizens? Please. BLOPS Wii U was 5 days late on the Wii U. Had equal if not better graphical quality, good online, gamepad capability and it sold like shit. Nintendo fans for the most part don't buy non Nintendo games on Nintend home consoles. Atleast with the Wii (outside of party games) and Wii U so far.
Nintendo can ride it out for a few years before releasing a new console. It's not like sales won't pick up once games start hitting. Even if they lose money this gen, which they won't, they will be fine. They have cash to ride this out, but they can't afford to make mistakes with the next console.
If sony's and microsoft's new boxes are set to have a 7+ years life span... do you think the Wii U will cut it for that long?... and if they put out a box 4 or 5 years down the line then it's going to be nearly the same thing, putting out a console that puts them on equal footing ( for 1 or 2 years)... but by then the new twins could potentially be around the corner.
What a conundrum Nintendo got themselves in... i still think they should pull the plug and bring out a new box ASAP.
Did you plan to buy the Wii U for EA support? I mean yeah, Nintendo and EA might not be friends right now but that doesn't mean Nintendo won't get support from other companies, especially since Nintendo is much more into (confirmed by them) publishing and calibrations, the Wii U might not have the same level as multiplat support like PS4/720 but it might have more exclusives.
So your saying, we don't deserve anything for buying a new console for $300-350 that Nintendo just gave up on not even a year after release?
And I expect the Wii U to last 5 years, at least till 2017, like every other Nintendo home console.
This is my concern as well.
It's better for Nintendo to strike the iron while it's hot. Create a console while people are still being blown away by PS4/720 now rather than wait when PS4 graphics will be considered a thing of the past.
IMO the Nintendo's biggest mistake is that they were too optimistic regarding economic situation (for this industry and globally).
If EA didn't have to be tight on their wallets then I'm sure they could have supported WiiU longer, to the point where it gains install base slowly.
